Had the pleasure of meetin Catfish Dave today. We’re big fishermen from Illinois, and we’re tryna catch whatever would bite I’m the tailwaters of a dam. Dave was there catchin Skipjack like a pro, and he told us some different ways to catch ‘em and how they act depending on the flow. After he left we caught about ten, which was super fun for us as we don’t got skipjack in Illinois. We gave em all to another guy who was fishin for cats later. Wanted to get one for Dave, but he left before we got the hang of it. Catfish Dave’s a standup guy. Never knew of Catfish Dave but I’m a subscriber now. Thanks for teachin us Illinois boys how to catch Tennessee tarpon sir!
Easy hack for a hook sharpener use two chain saw files taped together and sharpen the hook both sides at once .just drag hook between both files and it is easy to hold given plenty of room to drag your hook on .hope this helps.spray with WD 40 to keep from rusting and place in a pieace of PVC with end caps for storage in the boat !
I caught one flathead on a trotline once and he was so different than a blue I chunked him back in. Then I heard a flat head is some of the best fish you can eat next to a sauger or Jack salmon. Been there done that on the birds nest backlashes. Just get out the “sidecutters” as my dad used to say and start cutting
Ah the many joys of fishing a little river! " I'll just use that one in the tree to help keep the boat straight, lets throw out a couple more" 😂Love the content Dave! Been there done that! Way to roll with the punches. Sometimes we gotta make chicken salad, out of chicken sh... Keep it coming my brother!
Dave I'm glad to see that somebody else has problems like that with trees. Well not exactly glad...... Good idea to anchor that boat through the tree.!!! No anger that I can tell turn it into a positive.. Another awesome video sir
Once again thanks for the video Dave. I really like the sound quality of your videos lately. Where you wear that Mic seems to pickup your voice well and muffle the surrounding sound. You caught some nice fish and we got to see it. Thanks again for the video I enjoyed it much!
I've used a tree sticking out of the water as a poor mans spot lock on my little jon boat before, works great in light current. I just pulled up to it and sank a big treble hook in the tree let out line till I was where I wanted and tightened down my line and drag stayed put all evening.
With all that shallow water around at least you did not have to worry about being knocked out of the boat. And you got on some good ones.. Great Vedio.
Too cold yet up here in Michigan. Waiting to get out trolling for Northern Pike, and Muskie. And the occasional Smallmouth Bass. Biggest Muskie so far was 51.5 inches and just over 50lbs so far. Lots of fun avoiding the sharp teeth getting the hooks out.
Hey you guys...i am in WI near Madison. No blues. Some flatheads, but Lake Mendata has some big channel cats. Can you talk, while fishing at home, how ypu would rig and fish for lake channel cats.
