@DimT4729 2 года назад
@@rubenguerrero9030 no, the crash in Australia was in 2016 he missed the Bahrain GP after, being replaced by Vandoorne for the race. Came back afterwards. Alonso missed the Monaco gp in 2017 being part of the Indy 500 in 2017 the 28th of May. Was replaced by Button for the race/(weekend I think)

@@DimT4729 Except Fernando didn’t race in the 500 in 2016. It was actually the 2017 Monaco GP that Jenson replaced Alonso. Edit: Not to mention that Jenson raced alongside Fernando in 2016 before retiring from F1 at the end of that year. Vandoorne replaced Jenson for 2017 (my point being that if Alonso participated at Indy in 2016 Vandoorne would’ve been his replacement at Monaco), but Jenson obviously came back for a one off race at Monaco. Also, both the Monaco GP and Indy 500 are traditionally held on the same day, so if Fernando participated in the 500 in 2018 he would’ve had to miss Monaco. Luckily, when he and McLaren had a comical failure to compete in the 500 in 2019 he wasn’t racing in F1, so it didn’t affect his schedule. I apologize if I came off as rude in my comment since it’s not my intention. I just want the facts to be correct for those reading this comment thread.

About the constant radio: because it's a road course, the drivers often don't get a good feeling of who's on which part of the track and how the race is progressing. The engineers keep track of that and update when necessary. Also, the cars have a thousand sensors on them or something - meaning the engineers can tell when something is off or what settings to change on the car to fit changing conditions. There is a point to the chatter. It's actually much less talk than in NASCAR. re: commitment cone - you can't cross the solid line separating pit entry. Hamilton was totally illegal there.

Most of the time the drivers only hear from one guy, their lead engineer. He is responsible for giving information (lap times, driver positions, pit stop strat etc.) directly to the driver. It's amazing the level of detail and quickness these guys can process information

i really love this video and i want to answer some questions: 1. the spotters and crew chiefs are actually called engineers in f1, they tell you the status of the car and the status of the people the drivers are racing. 2. f1 doesn't need spotters, they have mirrors and stuff 3. the commitment cone for f1 is the pit limiter line, these guys have a button to limit the car's pit speed, and the pit limiter line is where they turn it on, the limiter line is mostly after the turn that transitions into the pits.

Point 3 is kind of wrong. It’s the the line that leads up to the pit lane you aren’t meant to cross it and re-enter yuki got a few penalties for crossing the line and not pitting. Hamilton didn’t get a penalty their because fia is just inconsistent

Yes we have a commitment cone for the pits. Quite often in changing weather conditions we get mix ups like this that you usually get a penalty for. Usually time added at the end of the race, or added to a pit stop; so if there is another pitstop you pull in and nothing can be done for that penalty time, usually 5 seconds.

12:40 what happened there was a misunderstanding between the driver and the engineer, the driver was asking if the switch of the drink was turned on, not if he will have the drink (that was the engineer's understanding)

A 5 second penalty is a lot especially if you haven’t pitted yet since you have to sit stationary for 5 seconds before the pit crew are allowed to service your car

The best description I can come up with for F1 cars is that they're fighter jets glued to the ground. F1 teams are massive operations with budgets typically around $200-250 million per year and hundreds of employees.

The best corner in F1 is Eau Rouge. Watching them corner through there at speed warps your sense of how gravity works. The reason I love F1 of all other sports is that the teams get a book of rules and they have to build the entire car to those. They can purchase engines, brakes, etc. but the cars are (typically....ahem...Haas) engineered and built by the team. They can interpret many more parts of the rules anyway they want.

F1's youtube channel does best radio clip videos on every race and has done for a few years. Also do practice, qualifying and race highlight videos as well as post race driver interview vids. They also do highlight vids on the lower formulas, formula 2 and 3. F3 being the slowest of course, but it's more "entry level"

in F1 the radio channels are open to anyone so other teams and the fans have full access to listen to other teams strategy and all, so they try to use secret code and stuff to confuse others so they dont give away anything and sometimes that makes them mess up pitstops and stuff

11:35. There is a commitment cone in F1. You can't turn in too late or leave too late from the pit, or you will get a time penalty for the race and penalty points added to your license. There is also a solid white line, you have to stay in the boundaries of when you enter the pit and especially when you exit the pit.

A lot of the info being fed to the drivers is often also being fed from the factory. So it’s not just the pit wall involved with giving information to the race engineer to pass on the driver.

With your commitment cone, it depends on the track but sometimes if you make it clear you WANT to come it but then don't you will get a penalty (lando, Russia 2021). If you don't want to come in but cross the pit line you could get a penalty like (kimi in baku 2016 i think) or sometimes not (perez, turkey, 2021). It's mainly track specific

The guy in the headphones is called race engineer. He is supposed to give the driver information about positions on track, lap times, the condition of their car, race strategy and such. Kimi is just golden. Blast from the past, he was the driver who was born 30 years too late. You should check his highlights. Younger he was kind of a party boy, did kind of what he wanted and was painful for media. :D

5 seconds can actually be a lot on street circuits too, depends what stage of the race it is and some other things. For example in qualifying the first few cars are like half a second together. So on that constant pace it would be ten laps and then overtake.

, The driver talking to fernando and the " ill pee in your car" line was Jenson Button who had retired the year before but was still an ambassador for the McLaren team and a holder of a valid super license ( required to drive f1) { btw this psych did, and still does run triathlons FOR FUN} f1 drivers are units when it comes to athleticism this was during the Monaco GP which is the same day as the Indy 500. Alonso was trying to win the triple crown... hes won at Monaco, he just won a few years ago in the top level of 24 hours of le mans, and the Indy 500 is the only thing left. So Button stepped in For Alonso so that he could be in America, do all the quail and practice and give the 500 a real shot. The teams are required to field two cars, and button is a world champion. Its Fernando calling from America that you here in the clip. The FIA broadcast truck must have taken the call patched it into the digital radio system and that's how its working. (GP2 ENGINE comment explained) - the feeder series are now labeled F3, F2 - then the pinnacle of F!.... at the time of that clip though it was GP3, GP2 then F1 - The gp3 engines would be around 600 hp where and f1 power plant at that time should have been closer to 900hp) he was talking mad shit about how bad the engine felt.
