Guys I am really not trying to sound like an asshole but you need to leave the machine work to professionals, when it comes to mechanical you guys are the best no doubt about it, put all that machine work looked horrible I personally wouldn't have put it on video for everybody to see

The machine work in this video was very professional. You however, could use a bit of advice. It is better to be thought of as a fool than to open your mouth (keyboard) and remove all doubt. RU-vid has an endless variety of videos, if you don’t like this one, just go away. Or are you just here in a pathetic attempt to be noticed?

Retired utility electrical engineer here. You said running two welders at same time affected weld quality, while one at a time does fine. They are on the same 60 amp circuit off a 600 amp service. It’s likely both welders running is reducing the voltage at the 220 outlets they are plugged in to. The short circuit current of both welders lines up at times resulting in a large voltage drop across the 60 amp circuit wire, especially if it’s a long wire run from the main service panel. A solution may be to run another separate 60 amp circuit from the main panel and split the welders. Another may be to increase the wire size for the existing circuit. I say all this assuming ( you know what that means ) the utility 600 amp service provides rock solid voltage. You might want to ask the utility to confirm your service voltage with a good amount of load running. Also they can confirm the power quality in the building. Wouldn’t be the first time that a rural customer didn’t have rock solid voltage. There are many possible causes. This is simply a place to start. Really like your channel. Great for those of us that love all things mechanical. Keep up the good work.

Excellent advice, I wonder if part of it is dirty sine wave when both elders are running. Some of these new switch mode power supplies do nasty things to the 60Hz sine wave.

Where I worked we manufactured, assembled and tested Greenlee power pumps. The pumps had to put out so many gallons of oil in a given time. Units were failing inspection on 2nd shift. I noticed that it seemed the power supply was dropping late in the afternoon. Maintenance called the utility and they came out and there was an issue with the transformer on the pole outside the building. New transformer fixed us up.
@user-tv3hg8mq2j
@user-tv3hg8mq2j 2 месяца назад
@@ronneidertAgree. The harmonics generated by these switch-mode power supplies are significant. A power quality check by the utility with the welders and other loads running would reveal any harmonic distortion in the AC waveform. Variable speed drives, LED lighting, modern welders, battery chargers, etc. all contribute to harmonics and power quality challenges.

Clint, just watched Kirtis at Cutting Edge Engineering Australia and he just got done doing on a 70-tonne excavator what you were doing on the 350G with his new WS2 plus line boring system, the video before this was him unboxing the unit with all the accessories that he had ordered with it, thought maybe you would like to see it, Kurtis was pleased with his new purchase.

Hopefully, he suffers no broken bones, dailing the monster truck, because it is long way up to get in the cab, and as vertically challenged as he is. NO, Clint, those switch-mode power supplies will run off 50 or 60 Hz, they don't care. The voltage is rectified to DC then charges big capacitors for the rest of the power supply to use. The motors are servo motors that run on DC voltage and would not be affected by a 50Hz input frequency. It's gotta be the idle current setting of the motors on the circuit board, there may be adjustments or it is designed in. Great video BTW.

Exactly. Only want to add that they are stepper motors. They are cheap to replace if they burn ! You can check the amp setting on the dip switches on the stepper drive and compare it with the motor. Sometimes they have a separate dip switch for half the current selection.

That square top motor is a stepper motor. The bottom definitely looks like an AC brushless Servo motor. HZ won't matter for the reasons you stated. Steppers run hot but shouldn't be too hot to touch. There are dip switches on that stepper motor controller in the electrical box. Lower the amps on the next step down according to the chart printed on it. You'll notice a difference.

While many may sit and criticize the work , they themselves have accomplished nothing. If you know so much i guess we all should be millionaires. Clint does an excellent job on repairs and works meticulously on getting things fixed. He deserves my respect. He works within his means to achieve alot but also gives the customers peace of mind. Line boring is a cost effective solution to loose bushings. On the pins, we used EL50 Chrome plate ( it has a chrome plating flashed on and ground to about a.0015 thickness per side, you can purchase it bar stock or cut to length, thing is, it can wear the bushings faster than the pin, we opted to soften the pin ( 1050 CRR 4140 HT-- HT IS HEAT TREATED and then annealed at factory) and let it take the wear and save the bushings as much as possible, much faster and cost effective to change pins) if you have to machine any material with an EL designation you need to anneal the areas you machine, heat the areas to be machined red hot and let naturally cool to room temp. Any rate that’s what we had success with, just some thoughts and experiences I have gained over 30 years of job shop machining and fabricating. Nice job gentlemen, enjoyed watching, brings back a lot of memories to me.

This. Also, peak current on the welders will be much higher - likely hundreds of amps. It's also possible you have a high resistance somewhere - a breaker going bad, a bad joint, etc. If this is the case, a thermal imaging camera can help identify the offending item.
