One of the most fun things was accidentally discovering that you can damage the booyah bomb it charges. I pointed out that it looked kinda like the steelhead and shot an egg at it, once we saw that it took damage the team knew exactly what to do >:)
Wanna know one of the things I love in Big run? There are safe zones!!! Even Glowflies can’t get you. In midtide, there’s a safe spot near the basket and the normal respawn area. In Glowflies, It’s a good place to kill Salmonids and Goldie’s and collect the eggs at a safe distance.
I love that Horrorboros actually has a defeat gimmick and it isn’t just “shoot at the body” again, I hope every king salmonid has a unique thing that defeats them, Cohozuna being the normal “just shoot it” one.
If you go up one layer even higher, bait the grillers up the ramp and the jump across they will get completely stuck on the bottom of the ramp, absolutely busted
This map is awesome, I'd really love to have something like this - layered, with "sentry tower" blocks in normal rotation. Had some runs on it, some wins, some losses - pretty easy to get overcrowded if bosses aren't taken care of fast enough. Steel Eels are really nasty on these small sqares - add in a fish stick and some rain to hinder mobility, and half a team goes splat, and the survivors are scrambling up without eggs. I was constantly on the edge of my seat.
This map feels really stifling and difficulty, but honestly it's SUPER fun at the same time. It's gonna be hard to get a high record of golden eggs, but I'm not giving up yet!
Wanted to say thanks to you, I rarely drop below eggsecutive. Started watching you a few months ago to get better with salmon run and it’s insane the difference it makes. Hit 450 vp for the first time with the previous rotation on sockeye before it switched. Love the content and happy big running everyone!!! Good luck!!!
You know what my biggest opponent is? Disconnection... seriously, I don't even know how many times my team was reduced to 2 people and me being incapacitated due to "unstable connection"
Same except instead of less players I would disconnect which is not-so-arguably worse because if I disconnect too many times I have to wait a full 10 minutes to play anything again
Have you ever found a dream team? That's where you find a team of randoms and do well in almost every game. Well, I found 1 and we earned 40+ eggs every round and managed to beat Horrorboros on our first encounter.
Hey I had a similar experience. First team I started with did exceptional. Got me a good record of 128. Haven’t had a team since that was so coordinated since.
Eight consecutive losses to start, including dropping from EVP to P+3, for me. Then the wins started coming, including defeating the new King. Unfortunately, as soon as I ranked up the EVP the losses returned. They changed the map enough that it’s confusing to players who are used to the turf war version of the map. I’m not a fan of what Nintendo has been doing lately (e.g. the recent map changes on existing maps after six months getting used to them). Except for tossing eggs in Salmon Run, and the ability to change the main ability on a piece of gear, I think Splatoon 2 was just fine and have been playing it more than Splatoon 3 lately. In fact I think I’m going to pass on the Splatoon 3 DLC.
I keep getting glowfly waves. Like, 6 matches in a row started with one. I have yet to fail one, but the stress is gonna make my hair go grey before the big run is over if it keeps up like this
i neat trick i found is on high tide there is a set of little blue boxes in the corner behind the basket that works really well in glowfly it drops eggs next to the basket so its the best if found
Loving this stage so far. Lots of safe spots too. Can get frame droppy tho... Horrorboros is also pretty cool and a bit tricky to aim for its mouth all the time. Aw, I definitely hate it when SR is scheduled during bad hours. Fortunately this one is on my good schedule. This Big Run has been a lot funner this time around since I made some SR friends recently. I got to EVP 500 and a high score of 141 after five-ish hours of grind.
I’ve had team mates who manage to get up to the walls on night tide and are invulnerable there 😂 I don’t know how they do it but it’s good for glowflies.
This happened to me at about 12-1am here in the UK. My first encounter with Horice was with an unstable connection due to someone' internet deciding it was MC Donald's. Could have been mine as it's not fibre nor landline but some kind of radio broadband (average of 32 ping) but I kinda doubt it.
Didn't know you could shoot the booyah bomb, I wish I could've known this sooner that I could've completed 4 horroboros wave, that I lost to, Its actually difficult to defeat.
so in short, best way to deal with horrorboros, make it commit cannibalism, my research implies it has more health then cohozuna, but the whole burst the bomb deals bonus damage, could be mistaken, would be happy to be corrected
You made that king kill look so smooth! My freelance teams haven't gotten the gimmick yet it seems 😅 That, and it has some interesting weapon choices sometimes...
For high tide glowflies, there’s a plastic box in the corner behind the basket where you are completely same from all of the salmonids. You do have to stand all the way in the corner, so there’s only enough room for one person Also horrorboros sounds like a ufo combined with Tom nook
I don't know why, maybe the narrowness, but this map is fun and thrilling! I agree it would be cool to see it again later. Thanks for the tip about the new king! I got wiped at the beginning of the fight because a flyfish protected 2 steelheads lol And idk the safe spots make the grillers harder to predict, especially when you're on the small boxes Edit: way less fun when flyfishes and co. spawn behind the gushers on the other side of the map
I beat Horrorborks first try because I got good teamates. This made me think he was easy. I haven’t had good teamates since and it’s only been down hill. (I’ve lost the last 2 encounters)
I really hope horrorboros becomes part of the salmon run and not just a big run only creature, it'd make king salmonid encounters in salmon run more unique
I gotta say, I already got my horrorboros badge, and he is EAAASY!! Fought it 10 times, beat it 10 times. Half of the time I had like 40 seconds to spare!
I want more bosses with gimmicks now and I already have some Idea: Killer Whale A big whale that releases salmonids from his mouth and shoots killer whails Hammeram: A big hammerhead shark that swims on the ground sprinting around like reefslider Terrortacles: A huge flying octopus that slams his big tentacles on the ground and shoots ink strikes
That little alcove near the normal basket is rly good during Glowflies, and you can spam bombs to mass kill the built up salmnonids Those stone blocks in the middle of the map also work for Grillers
I love this rotation! It’s not too spacious unlike Wahoo World, and you can get to the basket easier! And after encountering Horro Borros, I finally beat him on my, er, second attempt? Third? I forgot, but it was fun!
The rises between base and mid are powerful, but aren't the only safe spot. What annoys me on any map is people still focus on trying to kill the grillers/glowflies to the detriment that those eggs still need to be collected. For grillers it should be easy. Stand on the back part and kill the griller in base, then next targeted player(s) stand on the front part to lure the griller into the pit so the other two can clear small fry and collect eggs, then targeted players go back to the back to kill the next grillers in base. Other two players have other high vantage points they can stand to target the grillers as well, don't all have to be on those narrow rises. For glowflies, there's that narrow ledge by an added ramp in base that a lot of people tend to forget about in turf war (usually has a grate outcropping that's been removed for big run) that two people can stand while the other two stand in a position that lures the glowflies to base. When glowflies switch targets to the other safe spot, gives the two players at the first a chance to gather eggs. As long as at least one player is on a safe spot (preferably high value clearing weapons (I think?)) shouldn't have too much issue avoiding a wipe. All theoretical, at least. Maybe easier if I had a headset and could communicate verbally, but I'm usually flying "deaf".
I don’t know if anyone has said this But if you get Horrorboros on hightide and your a weapons that deals great damage against the bomb and boss. In the corner of spawn theres a way to get on top of the glass roofs that are on the side. The bomb and Horrorboros will be really close to you for you to shoot and also no lesser can get you.
It's going to be a bloodbath in the profreshional rank and bellow where mostly people don't really know what they're doing to strategize... You could quickly be overwhelmed in this map. It's easy if you have good team mates, if not, well you can kiss that trophy good bye.
@@Cobalt-M1st oooh you don't want to demote yourself in this one... You want to be surrounded by people who knows what they're doing, if you miss a beat, this map will punish you! This Salmon Run is like a mini glow flies shift, it can and will overwhelm you if you and your team is not up to par.
my first impression of horrorboros was high tide, two e-liters and one splatling, and my controller or the game breaking in such a way that i couldn’t charge my shots??? 😭 (i was fumbling to press the screen capture button on my off brand pro controller, and messing with that while also trying to charge my shot must have done something pretty weird)
Defeated the first horrorboros I encountered easily thanks to three fish sticks in the middle and a grizzco brella. I think we had something like 30 seconds left when it died. This map is really fun, but just like last Big Run I wish the grizzco weapon was slightly more common.
of course the night of Big Run 2 electric Horrorborluu, and I get communication errors killing my net with EXTREME egg lag, killing two VICTORIES and one before I even started a match then it said, "if this keeps happening you won't be able to play online for a bit" so I have to now WAIT till my moron sister gets off so our net isn't dead. TWO damn victories man, BOTH Extra Waves
I've gotten 3 communication errors during big run so far and it's only been on Xtra waves. I'm starting to feel like Horrorboros might be buggy in that sense but I'm not sure, it was only me who got disconnected last time as far as I know.
Not sure if I’m the only one experiencing this, but my king salmonid bar is full, yet I haven’t encountered Horroborrus once! I’m not sure if there’s something I’m missing, or if it’s completely random, but if that’s the case I have bad luck :(
It is a somewhat random chance, but it's based on how full all of the team's bars are together, so you might just be getting some unfortunate matchups mixed with a lot of bad luck 😅 I've been there before trying to grind scales on Cohozuna, it's a bit frustrating sometimes! I hope you've found it by now!
During this big run, I fell from eggsecutive VP all the way to overachiever only because it kept disconnecting me (my internet is 100% fine, I even checked it several times)
Been playing for a couple of hours with my friends at P3/EVP and we decided to demote a rank bc we were getting overwhelmed easily 😢 especially by the flyfish (Was this our RNG or smth else??). This map is so cramped and you really need to be aware of every side of your character to survive-
i’m not the best, or at least it feels like it, i keep losing all the rounds and the teammates i get paired up with have no idea what to do. 😔 i had JUST been promoted to profreshional and now i’m all the way back down to go-getter and i feel like everything i’ve been working towards has been completely thrown away. everyone in your discord is evp or just much higher levels than i am and it makes me extremely discouraged to try and team up with anyone. i don’t want to be dead weaight on an otherwise great team and i don’t know what to do to get better. 😮💨
Idk if I’ve been getting bad weapon rotations, bad teammates, or I’m just bad but my win/loss ratio has been horrible, and I really want to like this big run but I just keep losing😭 maybe I need to demote myself
ive got a great highscore and already a horrorboros kill under my belt but man i just cant rank up im so hardstuck in +2 and i dont feel like its my fault
