what's worse is the sound they dubbed for Bigfoot. I mean they had a truck with a supercharged 640c.i. all aluminum Ford hemi to record sound from, and that weak ass stuff is the best they could do?
This is awesome man!! I love when all four wheels are wide open throwing mud everywhere!!!! The birth of monster trucks right before your eyes!!!!! Thank you Bob Chandler....
SuperDutyScaler yes, here it is, expensive though, $40 on Amazon Take This Job and Shove It www.amazon.com/dp/B00015HVME/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_6lMQybTWZXTF2
@truedeadman No, there was no selfcentering in those days, I dont know if its true or not, but the self center setup is attributed to Mark Brandt circa late 86,. he worked for Jeff Dane.
A guy that works at the casino I work at that used to work my same shift I’m guessing was a stuntman in this movie and he drove Bigfoot!! He told me that! His name is Gerry Fossum!! Apparently some of the movie was filmed in Dubuque, Iowa!!! My birth home and my recent home! Gotta love that!! He said there was some Capesius’s and Theisens there too!!
You can count on beer every day of every year. You can tell all your troubles to those bright golden bubbles. What a childhood lol. Dad even had a blue 76 on 40 gumbos back then
Wow. I was involved in off-roading in the 70's and 80's. I would love to know the brand and model of tire he used back then. People are just now getting around to putting 40"s on their trucks. I'd like to know where he got 40"s back in 76. :)
@@eriklarson9137 trucks were all big back then. It was around the early 80s when they started harassing them. Bumper height laws came out not long after. Gumbo mudders and ground hawgs. Made by same company where everywhere. Hawgs sucked because they were directional so they got you there. But wouldnt back out. Swampers have probably been around about as long.
Seen this movie as a kid. I'd love to see the hole movie. Were can I find it at?? My little sister and I use to watch this every time it come on and whn mom rented it. Alot of great memories.
I got to see this truck at a truck pull before this movie was even filmed. This Awesome truck made two full pulls just for show and wasn't even competing.
@jklmj I'm not sure if the trucks had automatic return to center in those days. I remember hearing Jim Kramer talking about having to check if the truck was straight before hitting cars in racing, so i think they had to manually straighten it. Plus the wheels are the other direction after he comes around the yellow Ford and crosses the finish line.
i remember the o.g. Bigfoot crush a couple of cars right in front of me (less than 70ft away) at Montreal's Custom car show in the early 1980s it was Awsome. in 96 i bought a 1977 F-150 short box with 40" swampers & a 429 Thunderjet to satisfy my love of that original Bigfoot...it cost me 2000$ & she was turn-key!
Ever notice that after the race starts, the mud truck between Big Foot and Paladin disappears? I wonder what happened to the other trucks in the race. The gray one with the white wheels, I once read went on to become USA-1 and that Bob Chandler was driving it in the movie so, if that's true then, who was driving Big Foot?
It was a good movie back then... i had to watch it to for my desert from my date... How can you have a screeching tires in a dirt road is beyond me.....lol
0:21, 0:24, 0:41 and others look like they're not even driving the same damn truck! 0:41 interior shot shows a 1980s Ford bullnose dash, when the truck the guy is supposed to be driving is a square body chevy..and every time they show the guys supposedly riding in bigfoot it looks like a damn Chevy..
What size tires were those? He'll if anyone is in the know what are the specs of the original Bigfoot? Year, model, engine, wheel and tire size, four-wheel steer?
*Bigfoot :1st *Palladin :tried to prevent bigfoot from crossing the finish line but when bigfoot won he didn't come and cross the line *Silver bullet :dnf *Red daddy :dnf *Thunder '&' lightning :dns (broke when the race started)
+stephan com I can't find the movie in stores. I used to say that line to my son when he would win something. I would really appreciate you posting it.
+Casey Kellogg Do you remember roughly how far it is in the movie? So I don't have to hunt as much. And who says that line? Contact me directly if you want my VHS copy of the movie, unopened in the shrink wrap.
+stephan com it was toward the start after he looses his job and moves to the small town. They go to the festival and one of his friends says it. It's the first scene that Bigfoot is in. I wish I knew more.
+VegasTech702 Yes it's four wheel steering. Bob Chandler had a toggle switch built into the drivers door so the driver could alternate between front and rear wheel steering with the flip of a switch.
Anybody notice how the bed on the yellow Ford step side changes to a Chevy step side bed right before Bigfoot slams into it, but the rest of the truck is still a Ford.
