@@scripulance.1901 yeah true but back then they did what they could with what they had... now days the monster trucks are awesome but that ford is old school and was the foundation for monster trucks today
I remember bigfoot as a kid in the 80's. Made me the Ford man I am today. It helped my dad was a Ford guy too. 73 to 79 Ford's look awesome. I got a 79 Bronco Ranger XLT, plan on passing it on to my kids. Keep the Ford tradition alive.
As a die hard ford fan with old ford blue flowing in my veins and owing a pair of 4x4’s a 77 and 79 this brings a tear of nothing but pride and respect long live the king Bigfoot hell yea
I freely admit I WAS hardcore Chevy, however since the big 3 bailout happened I’ve been for Ford. Ford didn’t take anything from the bailout. Ford restructured and even cut pay I’m the executive level. Ford prevailed and came back stronger without the bailout. Ford did their part to spare my tax paying dollars and quite well. I respect them for that and because of that Ford is it for me.
An the same stuff I just got done griping about, it's awfully dumb these days! It's like a Pontiac Fiero into a Ferrari, the Ferrari is the Ferrari just as Bigfoot is the truck.
I think everyone did and some new ones to this day. His younger employees consider it a huge honor to work for Bob Chandler and all employees say he’s a very down to earth employer and welcomes ideas and tries their ideas out. I would love to drive his hauler around.
Gosh what a beautiful monster. When I was a kid in the 90s a family member gave me a beta tape of Battle of the Monster Trucks recorded on it. Bigfoot will always be my favorite truck.
It really is amazing that the first few bigfoots were real trucks just with modified suspension and engine, in a clip on RU-vid somewhere you can see that it still had the bench seat in it!
@@theshapeexists nah brother Bigfoot 1 had a 640 cid big block based on the 429...was originally built for boats just watched power nation videos about it incredible tech for the day check them out...mind blown
I wonder if he is a Ford man or its just a bussiness thing, adversiting and all. Or maybe both. Some people just love trucks in general and aren't partial to any brand.
They tried it with Bigfoot #9 which is essentially a modern Monster truck and it walked over the hill like nothing. Here's the footage. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hqE6huU9Bbk.html
That's about 9,000 to 10,000 lbs of heavily modified pickup truck... And he's ramming the pedal through the floorboard!!! You know that was one heck of a ride, steel body, solid military axles, and heavy terra tires... Old school!!!
I Remember watching all these vintage Monster Trucks their the Real Thing compared to the The Monster Trucks of today. Thanks BigFoot for leading the way for Such a Cool Sport for the Monster Trucks.
Back in 1979, a friend bought parts from Bob Chandler to build his own Bigfoot truck. He made the spring hangers so his truck was one inch taller than Bigfoot with 66 inch tires. It was street registered, but I think it was 6 inches over width for legal street use.
If this channel is owned by the the very same people who own Bigfoot, I'll subscribe! I never liked the look of those older Ford's after seeing Bigfoot, they just look ugly without that blue oval paint and the ag flotation tires! A real truck, not a composite shell molded into some goofy design... Heck, grew up watching the Bigfoot cartoon. It's all about that truck! 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you so much for posting this. It is so awesome to see the old videos. And do you have any more of the video footage from the monster trucks at gravelramma
Is any of that footage from Stafford Springs Raceway(CT) 4wd rally back around 77-8? About 40 years ago I was with my uncle at that rally and watched as Bob showed up pulling Bigfoot with his RV. There were probably 200 trucks there and everyone was awestruck by the site. Bob took my uncle and I for a ride around Stafford Springs races at in that truck. I still remember the metal foot that turned the rear wheels. He did a hill climb and he even hooked up to a few of the club trucks and showed how easy it was to pull them around. Still have my original pic of the truck blown up in a plastic case. Never would have imagined he would start such a phenomenon.
That was when Monster trucks were really trucks, not the buggy chassis' these days with fiberglass bodies. I love all monster trucks but theres a special place in my heart for the original Bigfoot that no other can ever replace.
Just to think he built that truck just because he wanted to go camping and couldn't get his deep into the woods as he wanted and climb and get ground clearance he kept getting stuck so he just built this monstrosity which is absolutely amazing
The 460 had tube headers a supercharger it was 639 c.i. not slightly modded. It had Caterpillar axles yes it was originally originally leafs[ stacked extra thick with 8inch solid blocks .... but modded with springs and 4 links. The hearing was insane it had a divorced T case with some insane hearing 2 spin those tires
It’s funny that I know people who daily drive trucks bigger than the original Bigfoot I like this old footage though The trucks today aren’t trucks at all, BF was real.
I was a member of the old St. Charles Fire Protection Dist. Station #1 on Jungs Station Rd. when Bigfoot was born. and it was a building shaker when he drove it by there all the time.
Now this is the real deal of a TRUCK, no tube chassis at all, no plastic/fiberglass junk for bodies only to shed off. The original Monster Trucks were more fun than bodies falling off, its not a truck, you all have bodies to look like one, that's all, it could be a PRICK now but not, ENGINES goes with TRUCKS, oh yeah, this I bet was just CAM 2 GAS now, seen the REAL DEALS when they were 1st out, been watching MONSTER TRUCKS since I was kid, went to tractor pulls also with Monster Truck's there too, TRACTORS, WOW!!! RUNNING 5 BLOWN ENGINE'S THAT ALL work together. Crazy stuff.
As always, awesome vintage action clips. Does Bob still climb up behind the wheel on occasion? After all, BIGFOOT was born so he could have fun with his truck, seems to me there's some place he can still go and cut loose and climb some hills, or run a trail in the woods.
The money from the ads goes to support the people who work at RU-vid . Some of the money from the ads also goes to the people who work hard to upload videos for your enjoyment. So now tell me!!! HOW IS THAT "UNCOOL!"
Big foot is a big name in the around the world it's a number one monster truck of all time it's a big name I'm a big fan of Big foot I'd like to see more short films and of big foot in green bay Wisconsin area I'm a big fan a big foot I hope big foot comes to Green Bay Wisconsin to do shows and events thank you big fan from Green Bay Wisconsin
Founded in 1975 in Hazelwood MO, basically were in my backyard in the mid-late 70's as I grew up in Bridgeton, MO (before the trouble moved in). Good times!!
I love the old square bodied Ford trucks like this and we all know that the current F-150 breed can't hold a candle to the old style. #NotSorry #BringBackOldSchool
