@iaincrawford8004 Yeah, but yes, that is the thing about remakes. Certain flaws make the movie all the movie 10 times better. Even though their were no dinosaurs, the elements made the movie a nice revival for the King who started it all
Pretty darn good. I recall seeing this flick at the theater on Boxing Day. It is a bit dated, considering the technology they had to work with, as well as the issues that were very 70's. But that's all good. I watch flicks like this for nostalgia.
That's why the original is more believable -- being scared of a giant ape is the proper reaction. That whole relationship thing between the girl and Kong is just wrong. In the original, we're the ones who come to sympathize with Kong, and without any help from characters in the film. It's about beauty 'killing' the beast -- not cuddling him like some big ol' teddy bear.
As a little kid i liked the original but as a preteen in 76 i thought this movie was incredible compared to the original decades earlier it was one heck of a reeboot it was well done
