Just wanted to clarify this with the significance of Eris cutting her hair and why Rudeus misinterpreted it, but hair cutting isn't just symbolic for "I want to change as a person," it has also been commonly known as a display of "severing bonds," or "cutting ties," and in most cases it was a permanent thing, were the person cutting their hair was basically saying, "I sever all ties and bonds with you forever, nothing you say or do will ever rekindle them." So, it can easily be seen why Rudeus made that assumption that Eris hated him and that was why she ran off.

Imagine dying a virgin, getting a second chance at life, spending years developing mutual feelings with a girl, and after your first night together she literally runs away. Rudeus being a massive pervert was the setup, the ED arc was the payoff.

"Believe me, the segment about Pursena and Linia stealing all those girls underwear as a way to make Rudy feel better is really relevant to the plot" said the author the the animators, probably.

The Paul, Rudy fight that the viewers always bring up frustrates me greatly. Rudy and Eris where at Ground Zero of the Mass Teleportation Catastrophe. Rudy and Eris had NO way of knowing the monumental scope of that disaster and the number of lives that it effected.

It is not that Rudeus was not thinking about his family. It wasn’t until he met Paul and Norn that he learned that it was not just him and Eris. His father assumed he knew that and was just taking it easy.

I also feel that this is quite the change for Rudy. Because back in his world, he was the young sibling who had older siblings that didn’t support him. Now, in this current world, he is supporting his younger siblings in ways that his previous family didn’t.

I get rudy was being rude but Paul was the adult. I almost think everyone (including Paul) forgets Rudy is still a kid

Aisha is the daughter nobody wanted so people treated her badly even when she tries so hard. Norn is the spoiled brat that still feels like she is being overlooked when she gets so much more love. Both are right in their own minds. But they are also wrong because they don't understand the other people that do care for them deeply. Which is why to me it was wrong for Paul to abandoned them. And not treat both daughters better. Paul forced Rudy to sword fight at a young age which did help him but he treated Norn into not doing anything for herself. And overlooked Aisha because he believed she can handle herself. Which they are both just children and needed love and discipline which Paul never really does instead leaving it for others to do.

This show is the peak of my Sundays. God bless the creators!

You are correct that adaptations simply can't include every detail from it's source material.... unless your name is Apothecary Diaries and dedicate an entire cour to each individual novel.

I think only main mistake anime did not showing Eris already, her story supposed to be told during Badi vs Rudi duel which was many episodes ago. I was feeling sorry for her while reading LN and anime watchers still have no idea. I really wonder how long they will postpone it, if they do an Eris arc later on when that thing happens it won't carry same feeling as LN..

All this was all very fine and dandy. Eris did Rudeus a favor since Sylphie is best waifu anyways. Her leaving just cuts out all the BS of Rudeus having to be wishy-washy about whether to marry Sylphie. She left. Bad communicator or not you don't just up and leave someone you love. Rudeus was at that camp for probably a couple of weeks to a month after she left. No further communication ... nothing. Rudeus is going took that how any guy would have taken it. He got ghosted.

I don't care what Eris intentions were. I don't care what was on her mind. I don't care what she wanted to do for herself that's all and good. The way she left was wrong! Don't make excuses for it. Dont give it the benefit of the doubt. I don't care how much of a poor communicator she was. You don't sleep with someone that you say that you care about and then disappear on them the next day. Anyone in that situation would be completely heartbroken and shattered. Him giving Rudy some insight on iris after the fact it's still not the same it may help him deal with certain things later on but it does not sweep away all of the emotional baggage that she left them with. It does give Rudy some closure on certain issues.

Did you see Rudys reaction and his facial expressions when Ruijerd even mentioned Eris' name? This issue is far from settled. Its best for Rudy is he forgets her for now. Its clear that Erisill show up again later into the Story, but Rudy doesn't seem to be ready to think about that right now.

It bugged me when Paul blamed Rudy for not looking for his family. Dude was right next to the city where the teleportation began, how would he know that it reached all the way back to his village? He also only learnt that other people besides them got teleported once his team reached Milis.

They are skipping content, which is fine because you can't have everything from the LN adapted to the show, but it would have been great if they added a couple of OVAs to add those small details or scenes from the LN. For Eris there is an entire chapter where she explains how she falls in love with Rudy and why, in that same chapter she also thinks "I not good with words, but Rudy is and he's also pretty smart, he'll understand", which makes what happens early at the beginning of season 2 much sadder because she is loyal and in love with him but because she is not good with words, completely messed up. And she even left a letter because she is so sure at how good he is at speaking that she didn't want him to stop her. That whole thing is a great in look at how Eris thinks and behaves. It shows she is not a brute, there is much more going through her head.

I just like how Ruijerd just knows how to give good advice and understands Rudeus and also Eris

I feel sad about norn. From her point of view, from the time she could understand things, she grew up listening to praises of a big brother who is not at home, getting compared to step-sister who was similar to her brother. Then got separated by the teleportation incident and growing up with only her father. The said father taking help from his wife's family even though they hate him for being unfaithful. Just as she was getting used to this life, her brother returns, only to beat up her father for a reason she couldn't understand, thus, inflicting fear her young mind, concluded that if brother gets angry, he beats people. After the brother goes to his journey, some time after her step sister reunites her. Then as they start living together, she starts getting educated together with her step sister in the noble house, only to be compared again with her and she looks down on her, as she is slow compared to her step sister. (This part is mostly my speculation: the step sister used her position as illegitimate child to get support from the servants). Just as norn was getting used to get compared to her step sister, again her life takes turn as she is told to go live with her bother who once beat her father and somehow he was also very amicable with her step sister. As they start their journey with someone who was a former companion of her brother but surprisingly, norn got closer to him as she looked at him as a father figure. And at the end of journey she is now again with her brother who is now living with another girl who is different than last time she met him and as getting brought up by her mother's family she hates his unfaithfulness. As she was again getting used to live there, her exam results were just average which is properly correct for someone her age but again she got compared to her step sister as she got perfect score. Norn somehow managed to gather courage and started living in dorm only to get sexually harassed by girls who are considered as her brother's subordinates. All in all from the point of view of a child with a mind of a child their age, her behaviour is totally correct. Now I'm excited to how she manages to close to her brother again😊

One thing I found a bit odd was the fact the two beast girls didn't pick up on Rudy and Norn being related. We've seen them plenty of times pick up scent ques from Rudy, and it makes sense, they are essentially a cat and a dog, both animals having a strong sense of smell. So why couldn't they smell the similarity between Rudy and Norn? Was it not adapted into the novel, or was it an oversight on the authors part?

I think the scene with the panties was also very significant to show how Rudeus values this differently from the past. In the past he would be grinning from ear to ear and would actually be kind of happy with this, pleased even. But todays Rudeus doesn't want that anymore and tells both of his "minions" off to never perform such a stunts again. He has grown beyond this. He is no longer the deviant enemy of all woman, he is now only lustig after his lover - something that is quite normal. But those are nuances in storytelling, where some people might see the scene and interpreted in the way that the author wanted to write that scene, so he did. Nothing we can do about that, but hopefully some people might read this scene in the way I do.

The only that not really highlighted in this ep is ruijerd interaction with sylphy, in light novel rudy notice that ruijerd kinda distant with sylphy and assume that because ruijerd expect rudy to be with eris, and that make the goodbye scene when ruijerd ask sylphy name is more impactful.

I don't know if I am right or wrong but I feel like they were going to cut the panties in the bag plot all together. Core 1 of season 2 dropped a few very small scenes that would have enhanced this greatly. Normally that means the pay off the end of it will be dropped too. Heck in this episode we even see stuff dropped or altered of the panties plot. I think it's not important to the whole story but in it's important to a few key characters and is just a fun mini-plot line. Now I heard that between core 1 and 2 they changed directors or something like this? Maybe they made a last minute change to include this. It setups some things up for the future too. But the issue with MT the anime and cutting context is a death by a thousand slices. I would almost argue that Rudy is a different person between the Light Novel and Anime. But I can't quite go there. Not enough is changed for it to matter all that much. And stuff is added too! Voice acting, beautiful scenes and animation. (For the most part Season 2 core 1 dropped the ball a little.) But the light novel has no audio, music, voice acting and very few images. Your going to lose context and some complexity when it comes to plot and characters in the anime. But your going to gain a lot when it comes to combat, and just character design in general. The anime is great but yes I wish a few things could be tweaked here or there.

Can you do a piece on the lady with the lamp and how the changes key points from the manga to the anime which is a main point to show that the FML was different from the Rumors or that she has changed, and they gave what was supposed to be for the female lead to a side character......lol sorry it pisses me off main things get changed because they either don't read the light novel or manga and try to make an anime but change main points that shouldn't be changed

Norn and Aisha remind me of me and my brother. And I love how Rudy tries to do right by both of them, depending on their needs.

This episode was so interesting! I loved the conversation between Rudy and Ruijerd. Ruijerd immediately steps back into his mentor role, and gives Rudy genuinely good advice about Eris. They were both still so young and inexperienced when she left, and the way I see it, they both needed time to figure themselves out before making any major commitments to each other. I think Ruijerd sees that too. At the end of the day though, Eris still broke Rudy's heart, and now Rudy is married. I cannot wait to see their reunion and how/if they make up, it's gonna be spicy. I bet they both still have feelings deep down. Also can't wait to see how Rudy helps pull Norn out of her slump with his role in the situation reversed. He knows all too well what it's like to be stuck in that dark place, he just needs to realize what's happening and help already!

The real reason norn and aisha think the way they do makes a lot more sense after the grandma arc (we have a long while till then, tho). You see how she treats each of the sisters and understand just how much that had brought out their insecurities and why they argue with each other so much.

I'm excited for the 16th episode though. Just the title "a big brother's feelings" feels like there will be some kind of confrontation that will somehow strengthen his relationship with norn.

Man next episode they better pull out some mad sob story or I'll forever be a Norn hater

This episode definitely put into perspective the cast of season 1 reflected with the cast of season 2. I definitely think Sylphie is better for Rudeus over Eris (They aren't related) and Sylphie is a good moral character to straighten out rudeus. It's crazy to see how much Rudeus has changed from where he was in early season 1. I'd really like to see Eris converge with present day rudeus to settle that plot thread right now and show us how ghislaine and Eris are faring in the world

As someone that has read the entire LN, the adaptation is fantastic but the biggest omission that I think maybe should not have been cut was the recap chapter at the end of volume 6. Volume 6 ends with a recap chapter of everything that'd happened since volume 2, from the perspective of Eris. It was a very eye opening part of the product for readers that cemented her as one of the best written characters in the series up to that point and even until she was to inevitably return. On the other hand, I understand that it would not have made sense as an episode and it would have been a little jarring to insert it. It may very well be shifted to a future date when it's relevant again. The material they have lends itself well to OVAs and additional content like Eris' Goblin excursion which introduced us to Cliff and gave us the background as to why he treats Rudeus the way he does when they first meet. This is why I think it's a shame we only have the one rigjt now, but I fully support Studio Bind and how they handle this becaise they've been doing a phenomenal job. The way they've already demonstrated the two immensly different inferiority complexes that Norn and Aisha have is worthy of praise. I'm so incredibly eager to see how they handle episode 17.

As much as I agree I do want to point out it is a unfair and unrealistic expectation to expect the other person did care about your side of the story after they've seen you slight them or hurt them if I saw that no as a full grown adult without knowing the context of what else happened it would have destroyed me and if my dad was to you know go off on me which I have had situation that kind of comes to mind I didn't take it as hey well I should have looked out for these other people I'm like hey I'm trying to survive myself

can some one explain me what this scene wirh aisha was about? I mean she literally said that she wants to be rudys maid and stay home. And Rudy granted her that wish. So when he then granted norns wish to stay in school aisha starts crying and saying things like „why does she get what she wants yada yada“. This was so confusing like wtf

It was also a build up for Eris. She thought she made a lot of headway with her sword fighting but then when she went to show off fighting Rudy he had received the demon eye so he could see her moves and was able to win. She constantly felt like she could do nothing right. She couldn't help him at all, he was smarter, a better fighter, better at magic, made the plans, ect.

if you read the novel or the manga , it tells exacly why eris do that , i dont wanna spoil to much but , if you guys found something unclear in the anime , the novel or manga prob will explain it better

I don’t know I just feel conflicted with mushoku on the one hand it’s well written on a lot of areas on the hand Rudy himself is technically pushing 60 so it’s difficult to bond with romance especially in his scenes with hitogami where you see his adult form , i just wish his him of now was treated as a seperate entity of sorts but even then it’s still weird I don’t know if it’s just me

I have to admit! I really like the character designs in this anime and in this episode, I remember seeing Norn walking in the hallway when she came across the student council and Rudy. But in this scene, you can see fellow students around her age pass her. But with Rudy's friends, it really shows that there's a distinction between their designs and the younger characters! It's details like this that I like noticing and this anime does a fantastic job at it! But one more thing I have to mention is that in this isekai, it's a story where the mc gets a fresh restart in life so of course, his physical identity is changed. So seeing his design change throughout the seasons is quite reminiscent of the character designs as seen in this episode! Boy, this is just another banger and I cannot wait to see how this story develops!!

Ruijerd was gone quick BUT he is going to look for Eris knowing how she upset the DUDE.

A bit late to comment here but I think at 11:56 you're entirely wrong. Not only does it show the dynamic he has with the beast girls but it gives a clear idea where his mind is regarding women and his now wife. If this were to happen much earlier in the season before some of his growth, the situation would've been completely different.

The panty stealing scene is kinda important, because when Rudeus scold the beast girls we can see Norm behind, she was listening and mistakenly thinks that he ordered them to do this (because I think that she knows about his shrine) and are scolding her because he got caught. I'm not trying to argue with you as I understand your point, but I just wanted to pointed that out lol, your example could be used to any other irrelevant scene.

yeah, it's not really realistic to 100% be faithfull to the detail of the novel. For a few anime that adapted from manga like frieren or bocchi the rock they had the luxury to actually add MORE to the media since manga is pretty restrictive. But Light novel is waay more expressive in detail so inveitable to reduce some details

Series was my breaking point for MC consistency in Isekai stories. I was hoping the newer stories would do better at balancing old world knowledge with new world experiences. Rudy works past old world insecurities because new world experiences show him that effort and practice are the best path to improvement, but then he developed a disfunction when not great at something on the first attempt. It's poor agenda based writing that he couldn't have been looking and waiting for Eris out of love. Never went back to season 2.

This whole episode was just foreboding.

To be fair and defend Rudy a little with his argument with Paul --- Dude was literally at Ground Zero. It was "The Mass Teleportation" but Rudy didn't actually know that. He was in a town far enough away that he never could see his own family and on top of that he was in the boonies when it hit him. He didn't know it reached Fittoa let alone his home village. COULD he have thought of it? Sure, but Geese lays out all the key points: 1. Survive in the demon continent 2. Escort Eris back safely 3. Rely on Ruijerd whose a Superd that he was taught to fear and he DID fear him when he one-shot the demon dude that kicked Rudy. Then two things Geese wouldn't be able to know / mention is he was also being "guided" by the man-god and he originally thought he died since he first woke up in the void world with his old body. He understandably had absolutely zero context of anything beyond his current mindf**ked situation.

Sylfie is a far far better partner to Rudy then Eris ever could. Eris thinks that the only way she can be helpful to Rudy by getting stronger and protecting him, but Rudy isnt this pampered little kid who needs to be protected, nor is he someone weak and immature, he is quite the opposite, he is an adult in a child's body (for better or worse), and he is a talented mage, perhaps the best of his age. So Eris may never be able to be strong enough to protect Rudy, even if that was what he wanted. Sylfie however, knows what she can do to help Rudy, she is strong yes, but probably not as strong as Eris, but she dont need to be that, she could be a completely normal person, she woudnt need magic or great power to help Rudy, Sylfie can help Rudy by just being there for him and love him, make him some food, clean his clothes, walk around town with him, and doing the hanky panky with him, and she loves doing all these thing with him. Eris great failure is that she didnt know how to be of use to Rudy, she could be the greatest Swords-woman in the world, but she would not be a better match for Rudy, since he didnt need her to be a great warrior, it was helpful when venturing trough the Demon continent, but as a partner, he didnt need any of that. If Eris does some contemplation and find herself, she would be able to become Rudy's partner.

Ruijerd is my favorite character in the anime ❤

it'll catch those people who don't pay attention by surprise that's for sure, anyone and everyone who has an eye for detail know that Eris is horrible at communicating and expressing her feelings, i mean when she was trying to lift up Rudy's spirits after his reunion with paul you could SEE how she was struggling, going further back when Rudy first met Eris, she tried to get her Grandfather to ask Rudy to tutor her, which ofc she ended up asking in the end and yet again she was struggling to ask.

Even if Ruijerd was here for like 8min, the way they bring him back for the whole purpose to talk about Eris to Rudy was really cleaver, that really fit his character

I never understood why everything was so hard to understand for most people. She basically said she wasn't a good match for him......because she realized she was very immature and despite her prowess with a sword, always ended up having to rely on Rudy for everything. There was always a huge maturity gap because Rudy for all intents and purposes is 40-50 years old vs Eris being 14. She felt that gap without really understanding it and wanted to close that gap, learn to fend for herself and "Match" him, basically become his equal. The tragedy is that because she was an awkward 14 year she forgot to add the critical context in her message which was basically "Wait for me" and Rudy, because he was a mentally f'ed up shut in with major confidence issues, took it to mean he was the one that wasn't a good match, likely because of lack of sexual prowess on his part, and that she broke up with him in disgust. It is always been clear to me.

Norn just comes off as a ungrateful brat to me so far

You don't need every line from the novel to the anime. But they could have at least kept the faces the same. NORN is always looking at Rudy with disgust. She always looks mad when she see Rudy. They don't show this her. She just has a down face or a frown. It never changes. When it is extremely important in my opinion because it shows how so many characters are similar to others and can be similar to yourself in not understanding the other person and also the problem in staying in your old ways and being closed off from others. Personally this story was all about not being closed minded. Which is pretty funny because the story even has moments on the people that hate on things. Such as what we are doing when we discuss this show. And how we are always acting better than others sometimes.

Why is mushoku so PEAK with every single thing it does? Eris my number 1 waifu though so glad to see my boy ruijerd sticking up for her.

i'd say the panty scene was important because in that bag there was the panty of norn so when norn saw rudeus talk to those beast folk she thought rudy asked them to get the panty of 1st year girls and that leads to whats gunna happen next

what I don't like about this episode is they removed the scene when Rudy scolded his fighting younger sisters, he look like he's mad and he make them scared

"When characters cut their hair, their character changes." That makes me think of Farnese from Berserk. When Farnese cut her hair, she had the most radical change of character ever.
