3 of my favorite players that lost their possible hall of fame path to injury. No question Rose was headed to greatness, Oden was the last of a breed, and Roy already had Kobe's praise. Fun players to watch, but what I like is they all took it in stride and kept good attitudes about it throughout.
Oden Roy and Aldridge in my opinion is the biggest what if built team in the recent NBA. I’m sure they would’ve been able to have won the west at least once or twice in the early 2010’s
He really had that potential to be the next Shaq out here, when he was in the paint it was a automatic dunk but unfortunately also came with his knees giving out tearing a major ligament
I had so much belief in Oden. I loved the center position as well. When he missed his initial rookie season and came back I still had very high hopes he could dominate. If he would've been healthy he would've challenged Dwight Howard in the late 00s and early 2010s for the title of best big man and defensive player of the year.
The fact that two blazers are on here kills me. That mid 2000 squad could have been something. Greg Oden I was thinking about the other day and how he could have been a Joel embiid type. Everyone knows about Brandon Roy’s short legacy I’m sure. But them with Lamarcus alrdidge that could have been a championship squad. Additions of Andre miller and Gerald Wallace. A young batum and Wesley Mathew’s. man what could have been. Joel pryzbilla!!
If there’s one thing I hate in basketball, or just sports in general, it’s seeing star talent go down to major injury. Each moment of what happened to Rose, Roy, and Oden pains me. D. Rose and B. Roy were legit my favorite players during that era of the NBA. They were just stone cold killers on the floor, man. Too explosive and too clutch, respectively. And, I hate when people try calling Greg Oden a bust. He was never a bust. But, was rather dealt a bad hand and never got a fair shot to live out any part of his career healthy. He always showed signs of potential greatness to become the next great big man in the league. That 24 and 15 game is proof of that very thing. Greg Oden had it. He really had it. Respect to all three of those boys, regardless. Real ones know
Great video. Man at least we have an idea of what Derrick Rose and Brandon Roy would of been. Greg Oden though we never really got to see him do his thing a little here and there but not to the level of Rose amd Roy. I really do believe he would of been a monster. Sad.
It was definitely unfortunate and thibbs terrible rotations definitely didn't help matters but if you understand biomechanics and anatomy derrick rose was pretty much destined for injury his extremely athleticism reliant play style along with his awful landing mechanics was just too much stress for one body to take
dr bryan shutter did videos on all three player sand he said the training they got was botched, and because of oden and rose's explosive playing they should of gotten lots of stretching and pull excersises on their legs ,and should of rested for hours after... and had rose took more time off he would of never gotten his second knee injury you even saw rose limping when he returned he also said all three had deformiites in their legs which also caused the injuries (bow legged, longer leg than the other) i am someone who has both and you definately need to get therapy and training for them type of issues because had three surgeries on my right knee and one on my left playing sports in my youth and need a cane because i was ignorant to that
Brandon Roy felt like a proto-Kawhi: the consummate NBA player. I had just missed seeing Derrick Rose play in college when Memphis was in C-USA. I was studying abroad at the time. By the time I get back stateside, I saw what all the fuss was about. His injury sucked because I couldn't believe what I was seeing before that. I was happy to see him drop 50 on the Wolves, though.
I say all the time had rose been able to stay healthy and team up wit the dog jimmy butler those bulls teams would have gave those lbj heat and Cavs teams hell
Greg Oden would have been amazing. You could see the potential in the few games he played. D Rose was simply unbelievable. To think that ppl was big on Westbrook while post Rose injury but Westbrook was an after thought during the preinjury. Incredible talent.
Would love to see a stunted growth episode about Omri Caspi. The warriors even gave him a ring and he's still only 34 right now so he could technically be playing, if not in the league then in europe or asia but instead he's retired and doing podcasts like a lot of vets.
Lol omri Caspi is the definition of guy who scratched and clawed for 7 years to be a 8-12th man. Not stunted growth that boy achieved more then I think anyone thought possible.
I was so hyped when I saw Greg Oden in the Big 3 he was really the next dominant big man to hit the scene when he got drafted, I didn’t even watch college ball like that but I tuned in for them Ohio State games
Even if Rose didn't get injured, the Bulls wasn't going to win anything with LeBron being in Miami. Portland had the pieces..... Those guys just couldn't get healthy.
I think that was nice of kobe to say. He was nice really nice but I think D-rose & oden were the 2 biggest damn injury Altho I’d say B Roy was sad cuz he just got Roy & then his career suddenly ended in his 2nd year. One of wash all time best players
Brandon Roy is my third favorite player of all time behind Jordan and Kobe. Roy was the second coming of Kobe but in a silent assassin form. A healthy Roy would have took some chips from Curry and Bron.
Rose and Roy was my top 5 guard and off guard of all time before the injury. Portland must be snake bitten missing out on MJ and Durant for Sam Bowie and Oden DAMN.
Do a Stunted growth on Stephen Jackson had he not been involved Malice in the Palace. He could been a valuable sharp shooter helping teams in he Playoffs similar to Robert "Big Shot Bob" Horry who has 7 rings. At one point he held the NBA's single game 3 point record. He at least one year he could of been an All-Star. I belive Coach Pop missed manage his playing time bringing in emotion and often times isolating the big 3 from the rest of the team. I recalled a few playoff games where Tony Parker blew him off instead of passing to him when he was wide open for 3. Being called Captain Jack tells you he was a good locker room guy and leader. Also do a Stunted Growth on Marcus Dupree of Oklahoma, Trajon Langdon of Duke and the O'Bannon brothers of UCLA who paved the way for NIL'S!!! Side note on Steohen Jackson winning a State Champship in High School with a Coach named Andre Boutte who won a State Championship with Kendrick Perkins 00. He is one of few coaches to have coached 2 players to Basketball State Championship and those2 players also win an NBA Championship!
I was a fan of d rose. He was explosive and a great talent and great athleticism. But Brandon Roy was my fuckin guy lol. He had it all figured out and would have definitely made a WCF run or two with Aldridge and Bayless. Especially if they don't trade Bayless and roy stays healthy. 💯 I'm a fan of nate McMillan as many are but he was not the coach for that team. Just like Chauncey isn't now. Big fan of Chauncey the player but the coach? Idk man
Why is he acting like a 12 pt lead with 1:22 left in a playoff game is some unquestionable scenario where you just pull your starters? This is a playoff game. I can understand a season game , but that is hardly an insurmountable lead from a playoff team to eclipse given how many possession you can get off with 1:22. Al the criticism of Thibadeau is classic Monday morning quarterbacking. Hardly anyone would have made a peep about the starters not being pulled if he hadn’t got hurt. Honestly , I’d imagine viewers would be perplexed by the action if indeed he did pull the starters in that situation.
Nah, all Zion needs to do is stop messing with weird Twitter girls & remain healthy while Ja just needs to stop flashing guns and get his mind right. They’ll be alright.
Lol ripe age of 44. Smudge a number here and bam birth certificate says your only 19. Go get em boss. In all seriousness blazers was my squad in the mid to late 2000s with pacers being my east conference team. Danny granger trade killed them pacers though
If D Rose never gets hurt, he doesnt have a way to get the jury to sympathise for him. Because he definitely confirmed just about every detail of his victim’s story and his only defense was to just cry about how much he’s been through.
For me, Derrick Rose will always be the biggest "what if" in the history of NBA basketball. Anyone who questions this, watch his 50-point game in Minnesota. I cried. 🏀
The biggest what if, was probably Bill Walton. I would even say Grant Hill and Penny were bigger what if's. DRose is ok, he was exciting, but he was in the same mold as Russ, and alot of people would have taken Russ over him at the time anyway. DRose is just beloved because he was the next star in Chicago, there are alot of PGs better than him.
@@Hooch_is_crzywhile I do agree to an extent let's remember that penny played 4 seasons before the injury bug bit him hill played 6 so while it obviously wasn't long we pretty much saw what those guys would look like at their absolute best wit d rose their were still many things he could have gotten better at passing, three point shooting and he was still able to be an MVP also I gotta push back against the Westbrook thing Westbrook was and still is a beast but he wasn't prime rose rose was a better finisher at the cup, better overall shooter better defensively like c'mon bro
@@johndavis9321 you are just wrong, if you look at the stats, ESPECIALLY in the playoffs, they were nearly identical. DRose was pretty meh in the playoffs.
