An unstopable Brompton rider appears to pass another cyclist very close, when confronted he takes no criticism and tells the other cyclist to shush. Is he right? Cyclist vs Cyclist road rage.
Bike rage refers to form of road rage in which acts of verbal or gestural anger or physical aggression between cyclists and other users of bike paths or roadways, including pedestrians, other cyclists, motorcyclists, or drivers. Bike rage can consist of shouting at other road users, making obscene gestures or threats, hitting or punching, or in rare cases, even more violent acts. Guys like this really annoy me. You know you're going to be slower than most people cycling around you due to the fact you're riding a fold-up bike with tiny wheels, yet you still insist on pushing your way to the front and stopping beyond the white lines at every traffic light (when you're not going through a red) Absolute muppet. Kudos to the lady calling him out on his behaviour.

Agree, this type of rider with these terrible habits on the road REALLY give cyclists a bad name. And I don't generalise people by what mode of transport they're using in a given moment, but sadly there are a lot of people with an adversarial mentality, and this kind of rider just fuels their hate.

Oh absolutely - I hate red light runners in general, like I have a BMI of 33, I’m not very fit, and yet I always catch up to and overtake the morons who do it. If you want to get somewhere quicker just cycle faster, running reds doesn’t do it. Or in this idiot’s case get a proper bike.

He's a grade A idiot for sure, but simply not true that just bc you're on a folding bike you're going to be slower than most. Objectively, he is faster than most of the other cyclists on this video. Bromptons accelerate much quicker than most road bikes, so will almost always be away faster at lights too Doesn't excuse being a douche though ....

"You're going to be slower than most people" I mean maybe the same rider with the same output would be slower on a Brompton, but I'm not aware of Brompton riders being slower in general. This Brompton rider for instance is doing circa 17mph which is a good speed for a lot of people.

Used to have a folding bike like that, a Dahon, which I used for commuting around Boston. Definitely not as fast as my real bike, and the flex in the frame (inevitable with that long seat post) was annoying. But folding was an advantage in many situations. Just getting from A to B, never imagined I was fast on it, though there was always "let me see how fast I can go on this thing" aspect.

I have had a few bike rage situations with other cyclists. Most of them are mainly on Lime bikes, but one recent was a 'beginner'. I have also met the type like the Brompton cyclist in this video. Others I have seen but not been involved with are 'roadies' up their own behind! I hope the lady see this video. The guy is ignorant and didn't care. If I inadvertently cut someone and they told me, I would apologise!

I've seen many cyclists travel on through Red stop traffic lights. Other times I have some sympathy, but not with those that believe the traffic lights do not apply to them. 🇬🇧

Some roadies really piss me off when they past fast and close. I means if its a race, I'm not in it, even if I am on a road bike. I am doing my own thing at my own pace, with the wrong, equipment and clothing according to others. Sorry turned into a rant! MTBers are getting just as bad when it comes to snobbery, no wander I cycle alone...

Sadly the Camaraderie among cycling fraternity has almost disappeared completely. When I am out training I don't even look over at other riders going opposite way. It is even worse with commuting cyclists. That poor lady would have had a wobble for sure with that twat passing millimetres away from her and yourself. Stay safe out there man!

On re-viewing, noticed that the woman was wearing earbuds which she had to remove to hear Silvio speaking. Without them she might have heard Jerkface's freewheel as he came up behind her and been less surprised (though no less annoyed!) when he slithered by. In urban traffic it's helpful to have all senses alert, not lulled by toonz.

@@tobythum6065 Yeah, hearing is more important for cyclists because balancing means we can't turn around as much to see what's going on behind us. We detect vehicles by hearing their tire and engine noises, etc. And earbuds can lead people like me to cycle while having a phone conversation, an even worse idea than listening to music!

@paulflory3532 A mirror is really helpful for seeing what is happening behind. It's a bit like the footage from a rear camera, but you are watching whats happening as it happens. Also a lot cheaper than a camera, that isn't helpful at all.

⁠@@SilvioDiegoso are you distracted by mirrors on all vehicles? Seems a bit petty that comment, a mirror is a more useful tool than a rear facing camera. At least with a mirror you’ll see someone approaching from behind where as the camera you’re downloading the footage before you can view it.

Look how many cyclists DIDN'T take the cycle lane! Awesome! Seems like many are wising up to the fact that it was poorly designed. Gotta admit, that dude can move on that tiny bike. Good for him. The girl can move, too. Good for her. That's what makes cycling awesome. The dude is a jerk, though. There was no need to cut between the two of you. And then he proceeds to run the reds so he doesn't have to deal with being called out for being a jerk. I once had a lady yell at me at a red light because another cyclist ran that red light. Apparently, I'm supposed to know every cyclist in the city and command them to stop for red lights.

@@SilvioDiego well thank you for at least exposing that bad cyclist. I know there are bad motorists out there but I encounter more bad cyclists then I do motorists. I spend at least 7 hours a day out on the road and see a lot of shocking things.

@peterwillson1355 my bike has 27.5' .....point 5 of an inch........its 27 ½ inches can you tell the mountain bike wheel was designed by someone who learned decimals with inches...just as odd as 16stones on that tiny wheeled bike.they are shit ...made of steel that's heavy-duty tubing I picked up a red btwin 520 single crank 9speed for £200 2years ago ,I would not waste my time pedaling 1 of them bromtons around holding my arse out with a straight back......unlike you

Calm down. Lots of cyclists ARE using the bike lane. On Silvio's route the separated lane is there for only 1 block, gives him a later green for his left turn (he IS trying to get somewhere), and is partially blocked by a van. Past there on his route is a series of useless short segments of bike lane interspersed with parking zones.

ALL of those lanes are bike lanes and they are are being used when and where they are appropriate! This might blow your mind. Cyclists pay tax (Income, VAT etc) too and so contribute to all elements of government (Local and National) expenditure.

@@andrewatherton316 Agreed, just adding: no matter where it is on the road, each cycle (1) takes way less area than a car for both travel and parking, (2) emits far less pollution, and (3) is much lighter = less wear/tear on the asphalt.
