After a was run over by a car back in 2011 I bought a helmet camera and started recording my bike journeys. I find watching and sharing videos about cycling instructive and useful.
I have been using GoPro Hero Sessions for the last few years with great results. Hero sessions are light and highly swappable. My back cam is still an antient Hero Session 4. Also have a Hero Session 5. In November 2022 I bought a Hero 11 Mini, not impressed with performance and it broke after only a month of use. I complained and got it replacement, still testing and use it on my helmet. My very early videos have a mix of headcam, SJcam and ION Air Pro.
To upload to RU-vid I'm using HD settings to encode, 1920 x 1080 pixels, Bit rate 24.19Mbps it creates files of about 180MB per minute. I almost always use MovieMaker to export I use the 'High-Definition Display'. Then RU-vid will adjust the resolution according to bandwidth.

@@scottlaaa thanks for agreeing that ben and jonathan was also innocent after so many years. Unless you want to be a hypocrite and contradict yourself. 😂😂😂😂 Been waiting for you on here. But if you dont blame the cyclists, then you are a hypocrite for blaming ben and jonathan for getting cut up by the lorry. Also doesnt look good for you. 😂😂 Now we have confirmed. 😂😂 What changed?
Vans have big blindspots and when you undertake one it can cause issues. So being aware of that might stop an accident on day. My brother got hit on a moped by one and crushed his foot. It not imo who's right or wrong but keeping yourself safe..
What's the best way to behave/react with positivity to make friends and understanding with all road users?. Perhaps if cyclist goes to van driver's door window and holds up a bag of sweeties/candies and says "have some sweets/candies and let's talk about it."?
@scottlaaa funny isn't it, now imagine the roles are reversed and it's the cyclist changing lanes. I would get called a Troll. More interesting is the a.mount of likes RB gets saying that people will blame the cyclist, yet nobody has done so. I think that it's probably better to get no likes. 🤣🤣🤣
@@TheMirrorGuy it’s funny that as soon as you saw my comments, you dont blame cyclists. The internet is inundated with your comments blaming cyclists for being cut up by indicating vehicles. You finally realised that u are the one trolling?😂😂😂😂 I can pretty much guarantee that in the back of your head you would be blaming the cyclists for not letting the van change lane and calling them stupid or something, but you are probably just too scared to type it out after seeing my comment. Always fun to see trolls contradicting themselves and get caught out like yourself. Because in clear cut cases like this one, you cant troll like before, so you have to comment something that will contradict your previous trolling views. Then now people will realise how much of a troll you are by being so hypocritical. It’s probably better for you to not comment on here, afterall, if you comment in favour of the person getting cut up, you are doomed, if you comment in favour of the person cutting others up, you are also doomed.
@@scottlaaa shall we discuss ben’s video here? Ben getting cut off by the lorry changing lanes?? With the mirror guy’s newly realisation of his previous trolling efforts, he is now saying that indicating doesnt give you the right to change lanes. Honestly, it’s better for you to not comment than comment. If you comment in favour of the cyclists here, you are doomed for being a hypocrite. Wonderful that there is no footage of the incident itself: gives everybody lots to argue about! Especially the trolls, who love to construct towers of shaky supposition.
@paulflory3532 I agree Paul, jus look how Peter blames the van without any evidence. Silvio also blames the van without any evidence. Personally I couldn't comment as I didn't see what happened.
@@roadbiker8333 yes, but if Silvio is where he is he will be in the C pillar blindspot. Cyclists cycling like that are a menace because they will appear and disappear from one or the other mirrors and if one isn't looking at the right mirror at the right time they may not be seen..... But of course Silvio probably already knows that. Cyclists need to keep themselves safe by cycling responsibly and not weave all over the road. If a driver of a car drove like that they would be called out for tailgating and swerving dangerously. Most drivers have a maximum of two eyes yet we have 4 places to be looking ......
@@roadbiker8333 doesn't it rather depend on the car. Each car is different after all. If a cyclist was cycling there behind my car it is doubtful I would be able to see them. If I was in my works cage van they could cycle at that distance anywhere they chose and they'd be invisible.
@@roadbiker8333 I want to post a URL, but it got deleted. Just a reminder for drivers and cyclists. ... You cannot hit anything if you are STATIONARY. So please try and stop before you hit something, then you can't be blamed for it. The easiest way to do that is DRIVE / CYCLE SLOWER AND LEAVE EACH OTHER MORE ROOM.
I'm sure the cyclist has vastly more experience than the van driver. The van driver was making a bullshit excuse about the cyclist trying to overtake him. The van driver's postion tells us that he jumped or pushed out onto the roundabout without giving way to the cyclist. Or the van driver undertook the cyclist as both went onto the roundabout. The cyclist was correctly positioned for going where he wanted to go.
The van drivers position show that the cyclist hit him and the cyclist said the vans had stopped. So the person moving was the cyclist and so cyclist at fault
@@seansean9675 It's impossible to say either way from what we see. The cyclist does indeed say the van stopped, which does imply (but not prove) blame on the cyclist for not being able to stop when encountering the van stopped in traffic (the positions, road layout, traffic volume all underpin this theory). BUT, equally plausible, is that the van entered the roundabout in the bike's path, thereby breaking the cyclist's stopping distance and causing him to be unable to stop even if riding well. This latter theory is also supported by the positions. There's simply not enough evidence in the footage to decide either way because we do not know the path of the vehicles, and the position of the vehicles alone tells us nothing provable. That's why police always look for some velocity evidence when investigating a collision, they know final positions are meaningless on their own.
@@peterwillson1355ever thought he followed traffic something like a hgv and traffic stopped for the zebra crossing? Maybe he was caught out and the cyclist was caught out by that? He also said the cyclist tried to overtake which would suggest he also came from Silvio’s direction and not from his right on the roundabout.
Dreadful driving, and dreadful riding from you too - you were in the wrong lane at the lights, tailgating, riding in blind spots, then simply having to tell the driver he was in the wrong. Keep on putting yourself at risk and you'll get hurt.

@@MadMarie2005 My answer is still the same as above! I said "How can you decide fault when there was NO footage of the collision?" You should try reading what I said. All Silvio Diego's footage shows is the after. Where is the actual collision?
Cyclist admitted the van had stopped so he was stationary. Sounds like he tried to filter past and hit it, the van driver said he tried to overtake him? It was nice the van driver checking over the older cyclist before checking for damage on his own vehicle. No argument or anger from either road user this is how all road users should treat each other.
I say the cyclist. The van stopped and the cyclist went into the side of the van. Another point. Why didn't the cyclist use the cycle path and zebra crossing?
Interesting analysis. As others have said, the collision wasn't caught on camera and so we don't *know* but, using your logic - a driver can pull out into the path of a cyclist and, provided that they managed to stop prior to the impact, it's the cyclist's fault? As to your question about the cycle path/crossing - typical diversion strategy. There is absolutely no requirement in law for a cyclist to use a bike path. TBH, a lot of the time, bike paths increase risk to the cyclist.
@@scottlaaa Read the words I wrote "As others have said, the collision wasn't caught on camera and so we don't *know* ...". I was simply pointing out the flawed logic of @gbhxu who asserted that, because the cyclist hit the van when it was stationary, the cyclist is at fault. In this instance (video), we simply don't know.
It is clearly the van driver's fault. The collision occurred on the right side of the van meaning the bike collided on the priority side. There should be a simple rule always giving cyclists priority on roundabouts. Once you see a cyclist coming you must stop and stay behind the stop line until the cyclist passes, and there should be no overtaking on either side of the cyclists even if it looks safe. . It is down to this stupid policy of putting bike lane markings on the outer part of the roundabouts which meant the van driver thought the bike was taking the nearest exit when the cyclist was still going round and expected the cyclists to easily pass behind him even if he stopped.
Nonsense as the van might have been queuing at the roundabout and the cyclist went I to side of the van, alternatively non of us have a clue what happened only the van driver and the cyclist.
@@neiljones4025 Nope. It is clearly stated that the van stopped, meaning it probably got on to the roundabout when it wasn't clear for it go, and it caught the cyclist who didn't expect it to stop so suddenly.
Definitely the van - probably wasn’t expecting the cyclist to be going around the whole roundabout in the outside lane even though the Highway Code specifically tells motorists they should be, and allows cyclists to do so. Only way he got hit in the rear three quarter like that by the cyclist if he pulled out on him.
@@chrisnumnuts8671 how do we know the cyclist was on the roundabout? The cyclist said the van was stopped and the van driver said the cyclist was trying to overtake. It to me suggests that the cyclist came from the same direction as Silvio
Brilliant analysis! Ashley Neal would be proud 😂😂😂😂 I think you forget to mention the feelings of the van too!! Seriously though, it would have been nice to have seen some footage to see actually what happened as Silvio Diego didn't show any footage either way of the two points/ or two sides of the argument.

This video shows the exact reason why cyclists are so unwanted on our roads, the idiotic behaviour is so widespread that the occasional good one you come across is already tainted by all the idiots.
So if I understand this correctly, there is a protected lane for cyclists yet you without signal try to push into the car lane, and cut to the front of the car lane, presumably to either skip the bike lane line up or antagonize the driver for the close call earlier. Either way, seems hypocritical for you to yell "quickly, quickly" when you're the one weaving in and out of the car lane unpredictably, not using protected lanes. This kind of behaviour is where cyclists get a bad rep from.
@@shm5547 It's a lane meant for motor vehicles, as opposed to the protected cyclist lane, meant for, you guessed it cyclists. Kinda crazy I gotta point that out to you.
At first I thought he was break checking you as you said in the description, but there was another car crossing the intersection in front so he had to slow down.

Of course the point is that if anything the Golf was progressing slower than Silvio was, so it was holding Silvio up. It's been documented that, in urban traffic, bicycles get to their destination faster than cars. When I lived in Boston, bicycling was far faster than driving, so that's what we did. And no hassles with parking.
@@paulflory3532 - Yup. When I used to commute by bike, I got to work and to home in about 25 minutes consistently, with 18 minutes being my fastest commute. By car, 25 minutes was my fastest, with 28 being my consistent commute.

The other cars didn't try to cut him off. If the cyclist at least stayed on the left side, he could have passed him. It seems it was his intent as he sped up once the light was green but had to slam the brakes to avoid hitting the bike that was shifting from the side towards the middle of the road. I don't know what the Golf driver was thinking, most of then are a...holes so he might have just taken the piss, but he might also have honked him because he almost hit him rather than because he hold him up. Let's work this out take notice of a qualified driving instructor including the police.Or a cyclist who gets cycle rage / doesn't understand traffic lights / Doesn't use segrated cycle lanes built for the cyclist safety lanes to create a scene / cycles on the wrong side of the road into on coming traffic .
@@bestbehave I suspect the person you're referring to did not explain this correctly. If driving to a high standard one will be adhering to the Police System of Car Control, this makes *consideration* of the information phase 'absolutely necessary' (it's mandatory) for each and every hazard (could be a cyclist, humpback bridge, car, pedestrian, bend in the road, beached dolphin, ad infinitum). The horn is a part of the 'information giving' element of the 'information' phase, along with signals, headlights, etc., but it is in no way necessary to use it, only to consider it as part of information, and it's incredibly rare that a cyclist needs a horn warning as most are highly aware. When will you give information? When it will benefit someone, usually this is to let them know your intention (signals) but can be to let them know you're there (the horn or headlights). One thing you're taught by the police and other advanced bodies teaching System, is to not be concerned if using the horn annoys the recipient, because that is de facto evidence they heard you and know you are there, therefore the desired outcome is demonstrably achieved. In this regard it's identical to a bell on a bike. Approaching a pedestrian from behind on a shared path, or who is about to inadvertently wander into the bike lane? Ring the bell. You might get a middle finger from the more bellicose members of society, but at least you know you've done your bit for safety.
I'm lol with the cycling culture clash Im picturing. 10 top my butt, try any of that in Vancouver and you are all dead. And its a simple concept of what folks expect. Like London Vancouver was never layed out for cycles. We are moving to dedicated bike lanes, sometimes with a seperate dedicated traffic light. Folks are addapting, cars especialy loosing road space. But the difference is that we are not trying to mix the two into the same pattern. Everyone is learning their space and speed. Example being, in a car and in my lane parked several back from a light, ooops, my coat is stuck in the door. At this point I have knowone to expect in my lane, I have no obligation to check for a bike, and you have big crease down forehead and you will pay for any damage to the car....different culture, im in my lane when I should be. Canadians may be poilite, not so much to a carless cyclist, at least be prepared for damaging your weapon by kicking out some spokes. Lastly as a more serious appilcation a man died recently near me on a motor cycle, slipping between lanes to move to the front for a light. One car decided he had room to move ahead but moved over at the same time squeezing in the Biker who died. Of course, the car driver having no expectation of others occupying his width, not one person looks at him as anything but a second victim , I hope the drivers here have the same comfort. Great videos, entertaining.
Of course both riders should stop. The moped rider here clearly went straight through a red light at full speed. Clearly he wasn't looking and completely ignored the amber warning light.
