Our Bikes are too LOUD for Europe. Multiple warnings that the Noise Police will fine or potentially confiscate our bikes. We need to get as far south towards Switzerland as we can as we are meeting with our Tour Group for the Stunning Switzerland tour offered by www.tour1.com.
Long day riding ahead!!
Like the Tshirt - Designed by Carolyne " A Harley with no noise, is like a woman with no BOOBS"
Want to protect your long hair whilst riding - try a Bunneze hair protector, I wore it throughout the tour, it was fantastic!

Dearest - I put a Delkevic on my Bike - wont fit yours - yes its loud. And can be louder. Loud Pipes save lives - consider you are in another drivers blind spot - they know you are there as they can hear you. Do they have to be the loudest ever. No, but Loud enough to let others know you are there . That is my preference when biking - Now about your video - its got a lot of gravity, so will orbit it from a distance - thanks !

High guys, nice to see you back. The traffic lights you mention in the towns that seem to have no purpose are lights that change if you approach the area over the speed limit. There is a speed sensor well before the lights that trigger the lights to change to red or stay red till you are stopped or nearly stopped then change to green. They have had these lights for some years now, we go to Europe every year and next year we are planning a trip to Cyprus, keep the videos coming
@BunnyKingHogs
@BunnyKingHogs Год назад
We just hadn't expereinced those lights before, they were always red but as soon as we got near they changed which makes sense with the speed sensor. One of the guys we toured with has a B&B in Cyprus, he is a wonderful guy, so funny. We hope to visit him as well. What route would you take
@davidbowe5303
@davidbowe5303 Год назад
@@BunnyKingHogs Morning I drove trucks in Europe in the 80s to 90s and the traffic lights were there then. They were to be done away with around 2019 to 20 but decided to keep them, boring fact I know. Our trip to Cyprus starts 1st may 2023 going from Portsmouth to Caen across France to Italy across Italy to Pescara, east side to see friends. Then to Brindis and ferry to Greece. This is the plan so far as may go from Ancona to split then down Albanian to Greece and ferry from Athens to Cyprus.... all being well🤔. Oh I did have a Harley Fat Bob but changed it to a GS, loved it but needs must.

It amazes me how long it takes to get somewhere on the roads in Europe. It never really occurred to me until after I married my wife who is from the UK and I started travelling to your side of the pond to visit family and friends. On the other side it just amazed her family and friends that came here to visit. We would take them on a little vacation and would travel 500 or more miles in a day without batting an eye. They had never seen anything so vast as travelling across Canada's west.

In Switzerland, use 50km/h as a reference if you are only riding back roads as you will always have to ride slower or stop when crossing villages or towns.
@Doug_Morgan
@Doug_Morgan Год назад
@@BunnyKingHogs Never feel like that. On our bikes we usually stick to two lane roads and not major highways. So much more to see and people to meet along the way. When we need to cover some distance we have done well in excess of 600 miles. Touring on bikes is all about the journey not the destination and we usually only do between 300-400 miles. If there is lots to see even less than that.

Another great video of your adventure! The stress of the beginning of your trip is palpable and in the first part of this video, the stress jumped out of my screen and punched me in the face! We could feel it. Having heard your bikes in real life, yes they could be considered loud, especially Brian's, but I have ridden with much louder bikes for 15 years through Europe, including Belgium, and never had any problems. It is funny seeing you both in places we use quite a lot. At 14:37 you are by a petrol station close to the Luxembourg border and we regularly fill up there! We also cross that bridge into Germany a lot at 17:48. Those traffic lights that don't seem to do anything stay red while you are faster than the speed limit, then change to green when you drop below it - they are quite sensible really, as they force you to slow down approaching small villages. I cannot wait to see the next videos of your Swiss adventure!

I really have to agree with the NOISE from your exhaust. I'm a Harley rider from WAY back (1970's). I've had loud pipes, straight pipes, shotguns and etc., and I must say the most enjoyable time I've had on my bike is when it is not so loud for me, my passenger or others I'm riding with. Hy loss of hearing today is a testament to my stupidity. Yes, foreign countries really frown on visitors with obnoxious noisy vehicles. You should have stayed with the stock exhaust systems on your bikes for this tour!
@BunnyKingHogs
@BunnyKingHogs Год назад
Our bikes are not too loud, borderline with the DB's when tested for MOT. It is more the high pitched rev limiter of the sports bikes that they are clamping down on. Carolyne would change her pipes but I enjoy the rumble

The EU is coming down hard on non " E " marked accessories fitted to bikes and even insist the compliance certificate is carried when on the bike, they also are strict on number plates being the correct size and fitted at a certain angle so they can be read by the emissions control area cameras they also go out in force on the most popular bike routes like the B500. If a critical part like brake lines have been changed for non E marked ones you are not allowed to ride the bike until manufacturer parts have been fitted that even goes for foot pegs and levers so be wary when touring the EU now, it is not only the foreign bikes being pulled they pull whole groups of riders like those returning from the HD meets in Bavaria.

Another fantastic motovlog! I returned from another trip yesterday. My bike broke down in the middle of no where in the mountains of Tennessee. A guy who I have never meet before in my life, gave me the keys to his truck and trailer to haul my bike an hour away to a HD dealership. I took the truck back the next day and rented another truck to haul my bike, seven hours back home from the dealership. I'm not really sure what is wrong with the bike, it just died on me, as if I turned the ignition off while riding. I know it is something electrical and has to do with the throttle by wire. Anyways. I hope the rest of your trip went well.

Hello Caroline, hello Brian, thanks for sharing this footage. Indeed a few years ago I rode the same route, actually more country roads to Colmar and then to the Black Forest. Beautiful out there.. As for the exhausts yes this is a thing indeed. Without baffle you should not go, or at least be very gentle with the throttle especially in towns and villages. (By the way, your engine performs better when you have a baffle..) To avoid discussion try to have EU exhausts or baffles with just above your DB indication for your type of bike, The police often handles tolerances of 5 DB to decrease the value when they do some testing. When you are within your range then your are okay.. But most important be gentle to the throttle... in the first stage.. Cheers from Tim

Pitty you couldn't drive through Vianden in Luxemburg. Crowdy and touristy, but nice place for a coffee-break nevertheless. But you can't possibly have it all on such a long trip, road blocks are unavoidable, especially during weekends. Great journeys you make on your bike, did an awful lot of travelling on two wheels myself during the last 45 years (I know, I'm getting old! 😀) By the way, funny enough, I made a stop in the same hotel in Lunéville on my way to Marseille and Corsica. Basic stuff like so often in France, but as long as there's a nice bed and a good breakfast in the morning, nothing wrong with that. I'm really glad today I heard tires squealing on the car that went wide on a turn and almost hit me spinning out and crashing off to the right, instead of only hearing the exhaust on my Sport Glide today... probably saved my life. Dead serious.... his tire noise had me hit both brakes hard, activate the ABS, and go straight while slowing down and going off the right hand side edge of the road and into the dirt. I was OK, badly shaken, but he wasn't so lucky, hit a post and a cable and then smashed the whole front end into a big old oak tree that was about 4 1/2 feet in diameter a the base of the tree. Radiator exploded steam and antifreeze straight up, hood smashed into the windshield, and huge sounds of explosions as airbags activated. His Honda Accord V6 is a total loss. I'm still alive. Hearing squealing tires while that oncoming car was still hidden by the canopy of leaves saved my life. A loud exhaust system, could have cost me my life. True story, no lies, shaving hair close incident today, thinking now about getting rid of my Harley, with stock exhaust and muffler, that was too close. Too many idiots that think public roads are closed course competiion race tracks instead of public streets. I'd be glad to show you on Google Maps from their camera, how it looked from my POV. Chatsworth, Los Angeles, California, going North on or around 8940 Valley Circle Blvd between Woolsey Canyon Rd and Box Canyon Rd, hard left hand turn with a tightening radius on the turn going south.

Great video and interesting to see the views on loud pipes. Most of my Harleys have had fairly loud pipes and I've been on tour with Gary France with some very loud pipes and got away with it. However there does seem to be a clamp down on the way, even in France as I understand it. I had looked into Jekill and Hyde system for my current main bike which runs V@H Big Shots but aside from the price my main concern is that a mate who lives in Germany tells that bikes are still getting impounded / fined with JandH as they are not TUV approved as original OEM parts. A lot of friends have just gone back to standard OEM systems for European tours these days.
