Excellent guide for doing Bikram at home. I have done Bikram in a studio but actually understood how to do many of the poses better after watching this. I practice with the video three times a week and have seen a lot of progress.
so glad this is here. i used to go to a bikram studio in my thirties. im 50 now- now i can no longer deal with heat and this will be wonderful to do again at home
Yes came from Netflix BUT, I teach Pilates and own a studio. I went through these poses twice and there is a huge difeerence between my first run through and my second. I definately feel better! I'm in my early 50's and I have had 3 laminectomy's, a disc replacement I have horrible shoulder and of course neck issues and this definitely helped m movement patterns. Excellent, bc I do not like yoga (vinyasa my fav but still not good for my body) I made a micro tear in my labrum last time I did it 3 months ago.. no more of that for me. This as terrific.
Oh, Dashama, i remember you. A cute yoga girl. i watched your videos last summer, started to practice yoga, and than gave up, becouse of lack of time. and i am very, very slow with any kind of yoga. But now, I'm back.
5:37 First phase of Utkatasana is with feet flat.2nd phase you're on tippy toes. And "everything hard like rocks". Also hold side bend for " ten honest counts" in Chandrasana.
This is pretty intimidating for a "beginner" who can't even balance on one foot for long without all the other pose elements. I will continue to look for a video that shows what you should strive for when you cannot actually do the poses.
You just go up to the stage that you can / have difficulty/ are gaining benefit from. So just standing on one leg for some of the postures with your foot in your hand might be enough for you
Good series. Leaves out some of the finer points in the postures that you can get with the DVD from Bikram, but this is still worthwhile. Slow speed to 1/2 using the setting to get a better speed for the postures. Normally, almost all postures are done in a two series. You will get a little more stretch and relaxation in the second pose.
On standing bow, both of them began poorly in different ways. Woman in red immediately began leaning forward, reducing the engagement of her hips immensely; her knee was not locked either. The other lady did the classic error of falling in slightly sideways, which also means the legs, core and hips were not initially engaged fully. The spinal twist for both should start at the top of the posture with the arms raised.
Thank so so much for the video. Great aesthetics. One wish: Could the music be eliminated or at least be more quiet. Your voice is beautiful and the music is louder than your voice.
i am very fresh to yoga,Wonderful tutorial and its do-able . Hope the video can explain when to inhale and exhaleas well . During yoga my breath is haywire.
Thanks for this video! It's a nice, abbreviated run through of the Bikram poses. It does differ from the 'pure' version in some places, but I have other resources for that. It is good to see the poses in action.
I like the idea they are placing, and the moves are very helpful, but the camera zooms in too much, I can't see everything that is happening till it's too late, other than that, a great video.
Elisha Bane I began with the Bikran yoga with a video I found on RU-vid a couple of weeks ago. Then I wanted to go deeper , discover mistakes and found a great apps named hot yoga doctor. Great Apps for sure. love it!
Great video but would be better without the music, or have the gal speak much louder. I did Bikram for 16 years and have stopped due to being retired on a fixed income, other than the music issue this is a perfect practice of me. Thank you
There is only one and a half of those 26 poses i ca'nt do. Toe stand and a half of spinal twist. I can do it when i cross my left leg over right, but when i cross my right over left, i am falling to the left. No way to keep sitting. Tree pose and half tortois i can do, but not quite well. Also bow pose and fixed firm pose make me breathe as i am running uphill although i can do them in a right way. So, i need to ask you: should those 26 poses be done in succession, or it is also good if we do only a few of them, with and later, some more, and later, to keep trieing to do what we can't do for now?
After Ashtanga yoga, this looks funny! This is a kind of redesigned yoga and fitness in combination, just to be "original" ... And the girls could make it better!
Yo voy a intentar traducirlo y doblarlo, a ver si es posible, porque hay algunas palabras que se traducen literales y no quedan bien. Cuando lo tenga te lo paso.
I don't get the comments ripping the video. I just started Bikram and the poses look about right to me. Some people are just anal I suppose. It's about trying your best not being perfect.
I don't think this is intended to be a pure form Bikram class, but kind of like a beginner's primer. If you want pure Bikram I recommend his beginner's manual which is available as a book and audio CDs. He goes in depth with all the poses. Also, check out Gabriell Raiz (Hot Yoga Doctor) for excellent instruction that goes deeper into proper form.
First 60 seconds show form mistakes in girl with purple top. 1 back bending is biggest mistake, but you clearly see difference between both girls. Red top better form than purple. Just surprised that vid producer chose poser and/or not explaining right/wrong.
If you have Bikram's first Beginner's Yoga book, the red one, he has cartoons showing "wrong" or how it will look for the beginner. Relax, it is a process that become the destination. Realize what is tight in stretch, relax that, while applying isometric tension with the pulling muscles. Keep your Mind on both those, relaxing and pulling at the same time, all the time breathing, and all the time focusing on "nothing" while relaxing tension with breathing. This bring a new level of consciousness.Focusing on "nothing" means to look intensely at an object but to have no idea in your mind about that object. Instead, your mind in on your breathing and relaxing and the stretch and the pull. Just that.
They missed two parts of Awkward Pose. I would like to recommend that someone who is new to Bikram really really should do it at a studio with PROPER guidance. Watching the form here is like listening to nails on a chalkboard 😬😖😖
* Narration doesn't match the video. *I don't feel like the poses are very well explained; I felt like I was literally free-winging it with minimal guidance. *VERY occasional hint about proper breathing thrown in here and there... Or when the pose is ending and the time to do that breathing is over... *Didn't feel like the proper amount of time was spent on each pose to get the full benefit. Just when you started getting into the swing of it, it was time to move onto the next. *Poses would end in one stance (kneeling) and then the next clip would be standing or lying down, so you have to pause the video and scurry to that position. These are criticisms from someone who has only been doing 4 days of Yoga - your intended audience. While I feel challenged, I don't feel like the video was as beneficial as it could have been. I'm interested in Bikram yoga from this video, but there's also a very high chance I won't be returning to this channel to continue it. Just my personal thoughts!

I'd say don't expect to be able to do all poses, especially when you are a beginner. Do the poses in complete succession, because they build on each other, and you will get better after 10, 20, 50+ sessions. Some poses are easy to do, some more difficult, nobody should expect to be able to do all of them well from the start. I've been doing Bikram's yoga on and off for 17 years and still can't do all poses.
