Frustratingly with my language (Irish), there are many (very many!!) summer camps, but usually the level of Irish of the students there is really low. As far as I am aware no one who speaks Irish from their family actually attends them, only students who are learning it in school. So it actually is very unhelpful since everyone at the camps also has English as their dominant language. It would send completely the wrong message to our kids about the value of the language. Maybe some time in the future they can start a new, different camp. I hope so, but I doubt it.
Yes, unfortunately, it does depend on the language. The opportunities lo improve a language are not the same for every language. But in that case, putting most of your efforts into visiting the places where Irish is spoken is the way to go in your case.
