My ex did this...he would text his ex regularly "checking on her". He would always say "he wants to make sure she's okay". He always made me feel guilty whenever I presented my boundaries. I should have trusted my gut...

He told me his best friend is a woman which my first thought was “ok then what do you need me for except sex?” But when I asked, he revealed they had briefly dated years ago, briefly so that makes it ok even though they slept together. And he’ll hang out with her because she has a kid from some other guy and something about being loyal. And he’ll mention how he feels bad that he hasn’t talked to her in a while. She dumped him BTW. He asked if I was jealous when I told him I’m not comfortable with it b/c I think it reveals some underlying issues with both parties. Narcissistic-Codependent maybe.

The guy who begged for her back and asked her to marry him just a few weeks ago while we were together. The guy who used her and left her. Then she goes on to tell me I'm acting controlling for having a problem with it. Some people fukc up all their relationships and never take responsibility for it.

Personally I agree with Bill 100% on this. My close girlfriend had a similar problem with her boyfriend at the time. They were in a 9 year relationship and he had a best girlfriend and he would tell her that the two of them are only friends and noting more. Fast forward to the present he left here after 9 years and now his so cold BFF and him have 2 kids.

I agree especially that the boundaries are being trashed. The guy almost has a better chance just saying he still has true care for his ex and then trying to create healthy boundaries if those are possible at this point with everyone. It's hard to normatise being more open after it's been exclusive for so long but many people do it. This option wasnt mentioned.

This Podcast is making me think about other people's relationships for the first time in my life. I think I'm developing empathy and understanding.

Even if he stopped talking to his ex, it wouldnt go over well. If his ex is such a close friend, then deleting her from his life for his GF would most definitely bring some resentment towards his GF. Damned if you do, damned if you dont. I love Bill but I know part of why he settled down was because he was scared of being alone (which he himself has mentioned and has said that Nia has used that against him in past arguments). I know Im the oddman out but I would never take advice from someone who fears themselves into anything.

I am all for keeping in touch with exes in a platonic way.... but if it obviously upsets your partner than you should probably put your relation ship first.

Basically why risk it? Don't want to waste your life on someone who will potentially leave you or cheat on you.

Ugh I went through this same situation and it was HELL, it was ok for a bit but then I seen she was still actively flirting with him and confiding in him. It got to the point where he was talking to and see her more than me...giving her rides to and from work, paying for her food, buying her dope..which that's all she was using him for was getting drug money.....she even had a husband but they constantly cheated on each other. I had my 2nd child and like a week later they were telling each other love you. That was the breaking point, it was either her or me and that's that. He chose me and cut all contact with her, it was still rocky for a while but we are doing good now. I soooooo wish I had this video back when this was going on to show him that the majority of people can see WTF is going on.

You can still be friends with an ex but not to an obsession or intrusive level... Boundaries need to be respected

I actually get where the girl is coming from, I was once in her shoes. Had a girl who a) was close with her ex, and b) later on broke up with me to sleep with some other guy. She's blind to the magnitude of his stupidity for the same reasons I was blind to my ex's: she can't process that he'd do something so slimy to her and believes he is commited to her (when he isn't), and she simply loves him. I never date people with close opposite sex friends. Any type of one on one activity with an opposite sex friend* is a date. Calling it something else doesn't change what it is. Opposite sex friends is my no.1 deal breaker.

seems obvious what is happening, The Ex girl broke it off with him but still wants to keep him in her back pocket. He still loves the Ex so he keeps his flame alive by contacting her. whether they are still having sex who knows, probably. when I had a close Lady friend and she got married I out of respect backed of the friendship. When I got together with my Lady we both at a certain point agreed to not at least actively put ourselves alone with the opposite sex or actively have close friends of the opposite sex, who were not partners of other friends etc. This guy shows no respect for his girl he crosses her boundaries with no regard. the comment about "if it happens we are alone you can't get mad" is sus as hell I would have broken up with a girl who said that to me for sure, mind you I would have done the "them or me ultimatum years before" lol
