There's no such thing as "reverse" sexism or racism. If you get assaulted or discriminated against based on your sex or race, it doesn't matter if you're part of the majority or a man, it's still the case.
The woman has won pretty much every fucking accolade she could get for her craft, she is considered one of the most revered and influential women on Earth, but poor, poor Meryl, oppressed and unable to achieve her real dreams in this patriarchal world....
Agree with KaptainMorganWo. It's not reverse sexism. It's just plain old sexism. You are totally in the right Bill Burr. Keep standing up for yourself, and all you other guys out there. I promise there are women out there who understand that you are discriminated against and no, it's not "patriarchy hurts men too". It's just putting people in boxes about who they should be/who they are hurts everyone.
Nia's a self proclaimed feminist. and the feminist hypocrisy in her was put on display for everyone to see. I don't have a problem with her.. but when situations like this happen.. you are always the one in the right. women like to subtly berate men. take their jabs, and then get upset when you counter with a haymaker of argument
+Ryan K AND, you CANNOT let a woman you're involved with dictate how and when you talk about these things. If you do, it's over. You might as well hand your balls over then and there.
+Jack Carter If you let her control you by using sex and the denial of it to bitch and moan - well then, you're a weak & pathetic cretin and likely got it coming regardless.
To everyone saying 'theres no such thing as reverse sexism', he put it in the title because when you think of reverse sexism, you think about women being sexist against men. It would likely catch people off guard if he just used the term sexism because I fell like that's usually reserved for sexism against women
Only dumb people think that term only means sexism against women. Only dumb people have to use reverse sexism, reverse racism, reverse whatever. Pick up a dictionary and learn some words.
I fell in love with Meryl Streep early in her career when I saw her for the first time as Linda in The Deer Hunter. I thought she was angelic in that role playing a soft, sensual and beautifully humble person. I wasn't finding her so appealing in later rolls and I couldn't figure out why??? A few years later (after she became a mega-star) I heard her in an interview claiming she hated playing that girl in the Deer Hunter because she felt Linda was stereo typically weak and desperate. She added that the Linda character was hard to portray because she was the complete opposite of her real self. Well, lets just say that Meryl was pretty much dead to me after that. However, I will admit that she is a good actress and after, all she fooled me.
Bill, you were RIGHT. I hate that shit when people call you out and assume you feel intimidated or threatened by them because you disagree with their opinion. They take it to a whole other level when really you just have a different perspective, theory or belief.
perliva There's a grain of truth to the stereotype. But it is a stereotype, non the less. Let's face it :) Usually there's some truth to most stereotypes, even though they're often vastly exaggerated.
◢ тне Scαɴᴅıɴανıαɴ Aтнеısт ◣ We all know that women, in general, like to talk about things and men just like to fix them. That is no rocket science and can be well explained by evolutionary psychology. :)
Its quite amazing how simple a concept as equality is lost on people. Either everyone is equal all the time or nobody is, there is no picking and choosing. What Merly Streep said was sexist and she should be scrutinized for it just like any man would have if they said it. Ignorance is never worth applause.
bill you are the man i wish i could be, honest, quick witted and seriously smart. I get caught up in this shit then listen to you and feel a release of pressure when you can verbalize what im thinking. YOU FUCKING LEGEND.
*The beautiful actress Kitty Ting Hao [star of the 1960 Hong Kong movie **_Beauty Parade_**]* *was born on Monday 10/9/1939 in Macao* *and took her life on Tuesday 5/23/1967 in Los Angeles.* *So stands her fateful action based on deliberation 48 years later.*
The biggest problem is waaay too many people who've been brainwashed by political correctness, and the vicious double standards that go along with it. Oh, and Bill, you're NOT a dick. Your observations and digressions are mostly spot on.
7'40 'my shit sandwich may be on a better slice of bread but you know what? At the end of the day, we're both gonna end up in the same FEMA camp!!' Haha I LOVE THIS GUY!! WTF?? Where the fuck did that even come from? you made my year with this one Bill, pure crazed out genius!! :)
You have an issue on your hands Bill. You have valid points, but Nia can never see eye to eye with you on a certain level with this topic. At the same time, you adore her so you have to make concessions when you to are hashing out your opinions. Towards the end of the day dude, you always have to weighup how much you know you're right to how much you love her and are willing to let it go and it becomes a pretty simple decision to make.
"Towards the end of the day dude, you always have to weighup how much you know you're right to how much you love her and are willing to let it go and it becomes a pretty simple decision to make." Yes, it's an extremely easy decision to make. Leave her in the fucking dust.
"So I can be an ignorant ass again". You weren't an ignorant ass in the first place. Just apply the simple sexism test to that statement, reverse the genders. If it offends, it's sexist. If a man implied you needed to talk to a guy to get anything done while women stand around accomplishing nothing, what would women have to say. You were right, she was wrong. But she handled it the worst way possible, getting angry in the face of truth.
Reverse sexism? It's like when people say "reverse racism". There's no "reverse" about it, it's all just sexism and racism. You don't have to be a certain gender to be sexist, or a certain color to be racist.
I can't stand a speech from anyone who is doing better than I am about how I should be acting. Celebrities complaining about (racism, sexism, public schools, water usage, children in 3rd world countries, child abuse, supporting the troops, children with disabilities, etc.) while I'm struggling to make ends me just make me want to not support whatever it is they're complaining about.
the term "reverse sexism" satisfies its own definition (because it is in itself sexist against men). is there a word for that? PS: google taught me it's called "autological"
The flashes were protons (not photons) striking their retina's. Some of the types of radiation can be forecasted like the weather. It definitely raises the life long cancer risk, but a few days of exposure in favorable conditions is definitely not fatal. The Japanese space agency (JAXA) created a lunar surface map a few years ago (similar to google maps) with a satellite orbiting the moon. It found a few of the Apollo landing sites.
Nia ment, that men having all the power and saying sexist things contributes to the establishment of their discourse power, so it has practical effects. When Maryl Streep say it, it doesn't have any effect so nobody is threatened. In an equal world both would be douchy, but the context matters.
Holy Shit Bill is fucking great. Let Me tell you something! (All seerious) "We faked a lunar landing"... lol Omg. How is he so funny? Sometimes I feel like hes trolling haha but I know he really means it when he gets pissed off.
Yes, of course. The lunar landing module (from the first of the six successful missions) is there where it is supposed to be. One can confirm it's location from earth via a high powered laser measuring tool and it also got photographed recently by an lunar satellite. It happend, it's there and observable. There can not be any reasonable doubt about it whatsoever. Also...soviet russia (clue)
Flew into Burbank with a woman pilot once, it was the scariest landing ever. We bounced 3 times, I thought we were gonna die. True story. Glad she wasn't Asian.
I think there is nothing wrong with saying 'unnecessary' things nor even, inappropriate things, (that one's called being polite). Bill is not in the wrong, he was expressing an opinion, and wasn't hurting anybody.
And then old Meryl got into her car, invented and built by men, drove to the airport on roads paved by men over a few bridges designed and built by men and took a flight(piloted by a man) home.
. The problem with equality between the sexes is that it is not about equality at all. It is about winning. Take two people with opposing views and place them at opposite ends of a rope. Let the two have a tug o war for their viewpoint. At this point it doesn't matter how equal they are constitutionally to disagree, it only matters who is stronger. Whatever anyone believes, two on opposite ends of a rope on ANY issue in America are ENEMIES. No issue states this more clearly than sexism. Women were and, in some ways still are, oppressed. The problem is that, all the world over, the victor gets the spoils. The Women's Movement is not about equality. It is a war in which the intent is to crush the opposition. I am sure there are those who will disagree. But if you're looking at the game, it ain't hard to see that the refs ain't calling right and cooperation is a dead point. What, then, does one do? Bill Burr, you have a right to your statement. Soon, neither of us will. Role reversal is the object. They want payback
Bill, if Nia said that shit to you (about being "threatened") and you didn't call her on it (for the attempt to castrate you that it was), then you're not as perceptive as I thought you were. Righteous and logical anger is a proper and manly response to what Streep said, and Nia is the one who is "threatened" by a strong independent man's mind and balls, so do what needs to be done, sir.
