Men understand the axiom "kids bounce". They can take a tumble, get a few cuts and bruises, cry for a minute, then get right back to playing, having completely forgotten about the incident. I certainly did, many, many times. Soon as he gets the kid home though, covered in those cuts and bruises, there's a very real chance these days that the mpther, or some nosy neighbor, will cry abuse and neglect, and call the cops and/or children's services, getting the man removed from the home.

It makes sense considering past society where women were traded away as children/commodities. It was the man's job to take care of her, so if they get divorced there's no one to take care of her. It doesn't make sense in the society we have today where women are able to take care of themselves.

Should be illegal at this point! My ex and I were in the midst of a divorce and she assaulted me and got arrested. Her lawyer literally had to reach out to mine for me to drop the charges if she dropped the alimony which at a max was $380 a month,....and she and her lawyer had requested life alimony!!! I dropped the charges needless to say and she got away with assault:/ And I pay 0 alimony! The courts are set up to fuck great fathers!!!

the real bs is that soliciting a prostitute gets you on a sex offenders register. The government is OK forcing you to pay for sex years after the sex has ended, but trying to pay for sex upfront that is apparently a sex crime.

I agree for the most part but there are situations when I think alimony is justified. Its the amount thats sometimes gets awarded that can be the problem. If in th relationship the women (or man) isn't working and has to try to get a job after months/years of being unemployed it's very difficult to get any job. Companies often avoid hiring people with gaps in there employment history or if you lack experience, experience/job history you don't have due to the marriage you where in. It's also true that if you were working and quit to be a "homemaker" even if you get a job you have lost years of experience that would likely increase your earnings. That being said there are example's like Tiger Woods amongst others where the alimony is so astronomically high its beyond reason.

@@bigeric1982 That’s assuming the man asked the woman to quit her career. It’s also assuming she had a career to quit in the first place. Situations like that are what the courts are for. Otherwise, half of everything is fair.

Id also point out that why rarer in the past it did in fact happen and is increasingly occurring that a man is the one tending home and or kids. Child support doesn't really make sense either though. Its based off income rather than basic needs of the child. Furthermore if the parent required to pay said support is willing to be the primary care giver they should automatically be given that right since they are the financially secure parent. Only special circumstances should negate such a proposal based off evidence of unfit parenting/lifestyle. Its only in the last 20 years or so that the court system has made an attempt to be more fair in these situations. The fact that there is an interest rate attached to this system for those who fall behind is ridiculous. Our legal system is truly flawed. This particular part of the system has completely changed the social dynamic between men and women for the worse and plays a dramatic role in the massive increase in divorce rates in our nation.

I'm a single woman and a military vet. I'm 52 never been married, never had kids... I'm straight, I like men. I'm not holding grudge against women who do get married and have kids. We all had to get here somehow. I hope that no matter how you get along with your ex, that your kids come first. I had my dad around growing up. He passed away the year I graduated high school. It still hurts that he is no longer around. Be a dad no matter what.

There are basically two components of "support" considered by the courts... "child support", and "alimony". Child support, should obviously never be neglected... And, alimony is not awarded in every case. It WAS, almost "without fail" years ago... but over time, it became apparent that this was not a "workable arrangement", for a variety of reasons. In more recent years, alimony is generally only awarded in cases wherein it can be "justified". The courts consider each case individually, factoring such things as: the duration of the marriage, how long the woman has been OUT of the work force, practicality of her (re)entering the work force, and (if she has a "good" lawyer) there's that whole "lifestyle in the manner to which accustomed" thing. That said, a child cannot realistically be raised without at least one of its parents "present", so some consideration may be given to "her support" to ensure her "presence" in the home. Unfortunately, a part of the problem (apart from the fact that many, if not most divorces actually happen due to selfishness of at least one of the parties - and/or - laziness of the same), is that in ALMOST ALL cases... the woman's lawyer goes in, intent on "taking him to the cleaner"... and the man's lawyer goes in, intent on "getting the man off" of as much as possible... and then, the court is obliged to "decipher" the "facts" and reach a "fair" decision. Both attorneys will of course: present their own client "in the best possible light", "vilify" the client of the other, grossly exaggerate their own client's "minimum" financial needs, and attempt to discredit or negate every expense claimed by the opposition. How "good" YOUR lawyer is... goes a long way toward determining exactly WHAT TRUTH can be "gleaned" from all of this by the court. Another sad truth is... the total income of most households... is NOT enough to "fairly" split.

Problem is, you import a Russian wife, but still the US law applies and she'll get half your shit. If you really want to marry, you need to go to a country that does not have those laws and good luck with that because those countries (at least if you want one with western standards of civilization) are becoming fewer and fewer.

100% agreed! Many men refuse to marry because unless they are 100% they found the ONE they know that they are going to get fucked on divorce if it ever happens. Not to mention most American women think they are princesses who must be showered with money, gifts, and entertainment for all eternity.

Wpmen can be just as brutal to men, they just tend to have to use weapons or sneak attacks to make up for the difference in physical strength. Not to mention being a bigger danger to children than men are.

i mean lets be honest being a mother is not hard at all because men can be brutal, women have the responsibility to choose a good man who will not be abusive to her. saying that is basically saying all men are brutal to their wives and that's a terrible disservice to the sacrifice men do for their families i.e. working so much they don't see them that much. The only way a man can make motherhood harder is if she paired up with a irresponsible guy who doesn't provide what he needs to, and that isn't the fault of men, it's the fault of the individual man.
