Bill Cipher VS Discord | DEATH BATTLE Review 

I'm surprised you didn't mention Bill interrupting Boomstick's ending pun to demand that he and Wiz free him. I like the implication that despite Bill being confident he'll find someone in the audience to release him from the Nightmare Realm, they all turned him down causing him to lose all semblance of patience and be reduced to screaming at the hosts.

It may not have been a *fatal* mistake this time, but it was same mistake Bill made the last time: He messed with somebody's family.

“Well... Heheheh... heh... It was worth a try... But still! Hehehe, I'm surprised. You don't recognize... your old home.” I really just can’t understate how brilliant of a line and execution this is. Discord deliberately pulling the wool from Bill’s eye in order to goad him back into the Nightmare realm and being completely content with death because he had managed to ensure all his loved ones safety and the protection of his entire home and the chekhov's gun with the letter he wrote at the beginning appearing again implying he may have foreseen the possibility he wouldn’t survive and left one final note for everyone especially Fluttershy. And how in a unique way Bill did receive a lesson in friendship by Discord exhibiting his trust and placing others lives ahead of his own is what ultimately defeated him and this also being pertinent to Bill as one of his most pivotal flaws is he has no selfless aspect of him and can’t ever fathom why anyone would care about others more then themselves which is what lead to his defeats against Dipper & Mable and Stan in GF hence why he never saw Discord forgoing his own life to ensnare him in the Nightmare Realm coming all of it culminating into Discord going down being the glorious troll he is. I could legitimately speak so much good about this episode and it really is supreme irony the one I was dreading by far ended up being so phenomenal and unify so many of the community together and after all the years of aggravation and misery from supporting MLP it felt so gratifying to be able to properly celebrate it instead of seeing anymore diatribes regarding it. And GA you especially were there for me when I needed someone’s help and was overwhelmed by countless being inconsiderate or thoughtless and I am so thankful to you for everything to this day. I wanted to leave this here for you, both for the brilliant and insightful review but also being a great friend to me over all these years.

i really want that Bill puppet… and also, every time someone has explained something about the ending of this fight, just keeps making it better and better, i love it so much

I feel like even if people do disagree with the results like I do they can't even be too mad since Discord petty much played Bill since the beginning of the match. The fact that Discord smiled while seeing Bill's hand reach for him proved it was all going according to plan (which good catch by the way I definitely didn't notice). Even though he lost I think Death Battle gave DIscord a lot of respect. Definitely the most respect I ever seen given to a loser on this show. Discord may have lost the battle, but pretty much won everything else and Death battle said he probably isn't permanently dead. If him losing bothers you so much just headcanon Discord threw the match because it was the safest way to safe his friends and he knew he was coming back anyways. I think Discord tricking bill back into the Nightmare Realm is pretty in character, because despite how silly and goofy he is the guy can make some really good plans like breaking the mane six friendship so they can't use the elements of harmony against him, planting the plunder seeds before Celestia and Luna turned him into stone so they can destroy the tree of harmony, capture the princesses, and free him, and even in the episode where Tirek tricked him had him push Twilight into figuring out how to unlock the chest to get the Rainbow Powers, because he probably knew something could go wrong when he goes after Tirek. Easily one of the best episodes of the season and definitely the best 2d battle of the show.

The DB community references actually make more sense because not only was this voted by the community but Gravity Falls has loads of Easter eggs plus MLP gives shout outs to their fandom all the time (like in the 100th episode).

I loved this death battle though their were some issues with it i kind of disagree with. For starters the part were Bill destroyed Discords physical form with a Chess Piece when they showed 2 intances in the death battle of Discords durability, such as him slamming into the ground at speeds fast enough to get him from another Galaxy back to Equestria in minutes and him standing up just fine, which i feel would have more kinetic energy than the crushing force of the Chess Piece. Also even if damaged, Discord can just fix his body in seconds. Also i feel they assumed Discord had to be a spirit to enter Bill's head when thats not how Discord enters people's mind, he can enter physical form and all. Other than that, it was a really good episode. And i hope both Bill and Discord get another outing some day

This is definitely one of my favorite Death Battles, but I personally feel it has a few flaws i struggle overlooking as a pretty big MLP fan. First, the way thry have Discord's physical form get destroyed wouldn't actually work, he's tanked way more destructive attacks than what did it without a scratch, but I admit that's not really a big deal. The other flaw in my opinion is when they say Discord is carefree in a fight, that's just not true most of the time. He only acts that way when he believes he can't be defeated and i feel that's an important distinction. When he was defeated in the season 2 finale he was under the impression the Elements were deactivated and before he was under that impression he took everything seriously, in his own way of course. It was only once the Elements were supposedly deactivated that started acting carefree and not taking things seriously. The big examples death battle gives of Discord being carefree in a fight don't really hold water either. When Starlight blasted him, he wasn't acting carefree, he intentionally antagonized Starlight so she would do that and he let her banish his physical form from the school. If Discord didn't want that to happen, it wouldn't have. The other example they gave literally goes against their point of him acting carefree in a fight. During the confrontation with Sombra in season 9 he actually fakes getting hurt against him, he does this to test the mane 6, because he wants to know if they can solve problems without his help. He says just as much when he reveals the blast Sombra hit him with didn't effect him at all. My point is, i feel their reason for Bill winning is faulty, if Discord isn't confident he's unbeatable, he takes a fight seriously, and the Discord in this Death Battle saw Bill was on his level so he should've taken the fight seriously. I don't know if this would effect the outcome, but it's something I struggle to overlook as a fan of the character. Despite going on about something I heavily dislike about the episode, I still believe this is one of the best ones ever. It was simply amazing, even if I have problems with it, I try not to let that effect my enjoyment of an episode. This is easily a 9 out of ten.

The only thing I find weird about the episode as a whole is that a pretty big point about Bill and Discord is never brought up. Namely that Bill is clearly a lot weaker than Discord in a specific area, that being dimensional magic. Not only can Bill not break through walls between dimensions on his own, but he even fails to penetrate the weirdness attraction field around gravity falls by himself. Discord meanwhile has no such limitations. The entire ending of the fight hinges on this fact, but I feel like it should have played a bigger role?

This episode means so much to me in ways I couldn't even imagine. The writing is at the top of its game, potentially the best editing in the series, all the in-jokes for the community, the *FANTASTIC* Discord and Bill characterization, and the animation capturing the chaos while never feeling stale. As someone who's wanted this episode for nearly a decade, seeing it with this level of quality made me feel like I was a kid again watching season 2 with how excited it made me. I didn't want either character to lose, but they gave what is potentially the best outcome with Bill winning the fight, but Discord winning the story (with him potentially returning given how he's the embodiment of chaos) My all-time favorite episode now, no question. If Snake vs. Sam is my second favorite it's at like an 8/10 compared to Bill vs. Discord's 11/10. It's set a new standard, and the gap is too big for anything to close.

This episode is definitely a 10/10! Would i have preferred discord winning? Oh of course! But tbh...he did win. Maybe not the fight, but the war and his friends back! I love both characters almost equally and had to really think about it...but still! Everything about it was just amazing! Even sans made an appearance! XD

So, my experience with the episode was really fun, got to watch it with the ODBD (Official Death Battle Discord), it was really fun, but one of my favorite easter eggs was in the Background section of Bill's analysis. Below the names is a vigenere cipher that reads "A HDU'B VJXU DMZL KYWVRWR LPVXG", which with code "SEPHIROTH", translates into this: "I DON'T EVEN LIKE CHICKEN WINGS". This is a cheeky reference to Crossover Colosseum's Bill Cipher VS Sephiroth, where Bill mainly calls Sephiroth "Chicken Wing". It personally makes me happy that DJ added it in since I work with the Smash Bracket team and did the track art for that episode in particular, it feels like I helped the team in a way and at least make a little impact in the VS community, even if it isn't too major. We do gotta admit the Stretch Royale reference was kinda based-

As a former Brony, Discord losing hurt. A lot. But everything that lead up to that loss was so amazing that it softened the blow. Like you said, he lost the fight but he won the war.

In Gravity falls, there is an episode where Dipper is turned into a sock puppet, which i like to think is referenced in that chaos bubble scene.

Okay, here are my disagreements. Bill's powers regarding souls and his strength without a physical body. A lot of comparisons made showed him being barely able to affect the soul of a child, while having that child deal significant damage to him. So the conclusion that he therefore can effortlessly manipulate Discord's soul and resist Discord's soul hax comes out of nowhere. As a result, I do think that Discord may have the edge in this regard. But, I think the narrative of the battle we got is far more entertaining with Discord losing the fight but still winning in the end.

Finally, cant wait! 😆 it seems they Weirdmageddon’d your thumbnail as well O-o

Neither have any solid way to wound the other. Dream representations arent souls and there nothing indicating discord cant heal or regenerate his soul as easily as he can his body. Neither of them can put the other down, it would be an eternal stalemate.

Watching this Death Battle Episode made it feel like Friendship is Magic started yesterday.

This is the most unexpected episode to be the most loved compared to most of the other episodes of death battle.

Jesus Christ even after 2 weeks of this episode coming out I’m STILL finding new things. Freddy Kruger in stan’s eyes Discord just standing around to the left when bill messes with gravity The death battle cutaway lab in discord’s dimensional tear Discord laying his arm on an upside down island in the action figure scene Discord also intentionally getting grabbed by bill in the dream segment. Bill grabbing discord by the goatee when leaving the portal And probably another half dozen things I still have noticed yet. It was a struggle trying to convince myself to put this episode above Vader bs obito, and ESPECIALLY have it usurp omnilander as my favorite episode of the show… but come on, it’s not even a fucking competition.

This has to be my favorite review of a death battle , ever ! Well done . Also I find it funny when people get heated about the outcome of a Death Battle and can't simply appreciate the animation and music . Even the run downs are pretty neat . And that's coming from someone that had their favorite character lose a Death Battle 😂😂 Watching the extras to the fight, I learned they even wanted to make the death less "brutal" but I even like that they went the extra mile for the L 😂😂 I don't want to spoil any match ups , but I've rewatched it several times since and still appreciate the details that went into the analysis , fight and music . But this battle with Bill-Cord is also my favorite for pretty much the same reasons everyone has already said, with me learning only more and more about the small details that went into it.

I wonder what a Discord win would have looked like? Maybe he'd put on an Undertaker outfit and tell Bill that the bell tolls for him while taking out Grogar's Bell?

I really liked this episode. Mainly because the one big thing that defined the winner. Their character differences. But its the same character differences that define them as seperate characters. These two essentially have the same amount of capabilities as one another so its a battle thats not easy for either of them. So it was crazy cool to see just how badly both stuggled here. Bill almost fucking dies in his mind. But of course hes dealt with this kind of trick before and was not gonna be fooled again by it. Except that was just a red herring for the true trick. Can i just be one to say the writing here is excellent. Perfection even.

TL;DR: this is literally the only fight on Death Battle that will last forever. Bill Cipher VS Discord reached trending, meaning there is definitely at least ONE person who would want to free Bill Cipher just for the hell of it. And Discord is a concept, as long as there is chaos, there is Discord. Sure it could take centuries even millennia for his soul to reform, but Bill has lived for trillions of years, he’ll likely encounter Discord again. And if the outcome is the same each time, this fight will never truly end, with it just being another 300 century cooldown for Discord until he can encounter Bill again. And that is one of my favorite parts of this episode.

Though there was a black box that said given time Discord could reform, just not fast enough to continue the fight.

When I was going to sleep one night and I started thinly back to the member poll and thought that if we Got/Get Steve vs Emit it could be a soul Lego fight consideringBoth characters have Lego sets and Emit is a Lego character.

I loved the episode quite a bit, and the only issue I've really EVER had with this episode WAS that the winner was wrong., but I'd never let that ruin an entire episode for me. I still hold it as one of my top three, easily. Here's the main things they forgot to mention as far as the fight goes: Discord cannot be killed by Bill because to do so would require wiping out the concept of chaos, and Discord is the embodiment of chaos. Bill can't do that without harming himself. This doesn't include the fact that Discord can manipulate time, and will always come back eventually, so he could just go through time to get back to the fight asap. Battle should have been a tie or a win for Discord.

7:31, as another person who plays Genshin way to much, I find the fact that someone canonically in Death Battle plays it so funny. Lets hope a Genshin episode happens!

This episode is a masterpiece which shocked me considering I thought it was the worst choice on the ballot. It's a pity the mlp community has been but toxic for years in regards to the match-up because I would have loved to see this sooner but oh well

well I will go on about how great the Euclidian line is then euclidian geometry is geometry made on a flat surface, since Bill is from the second dimension where everything is completely flat and also is himself a simple geometrical shape, that make perfect sens *BUT* thanks to great writer, bad math guy HP Lovecraft, euclidian and non-euclidian gained a second meaning in pop culture. Lovecraft described the structures of R'lyeh, the city in which Chtulhu slumber, as "non euclidian". Now you might point out that, yeah, pretty much all structure on earth are non euclidian 'cause round earth but by that he meant that it was mind bending and defying human comprehension. So Discord calling Bill "too euclidian" is also a diss at Bill's ability, basically Discord is saying that Bill reality warping is too simple for him

This episode finally trumped Stitch vs Rocket Raccoon as my favorite of season 10. The amount of passion, love, and just overall creativity for this fight was spot on for both characters. This episode took all the good parts of Deadpool vs The Mask and made them even better. One key detail that made this episode 100x better than Twilight vs Raven for me was how the fight ended. Even though Discord knew that he was gonna die he was gonna make sure that Bill could never harm anyone in the multiverse and basically sealed himself and Bill knowing what was gonna happen. So from a story narrative Discord also got the victory as well while Bill was the winner of the fight Discord won the war. This is honestly a 10/10 for me. The only other episode that got this rating was the previously mentioned Stitch vs Rocket Raccoon.

The results were actually correct. Plus power scaling is technicaly objective. Like for example, here is character A who has consistent feats of scaling to planetary tier. Then there is character B who has consistent feats of scaling to universal tier. So who wins between character A and B? Well, character b of course (There are also other factors like the versions of the character, etc. But those problems can be solved if you used specific versions of the character with it's own consistent feats, etc. But yeah)

This is easily my favorite episode of the show, it did damn near everything perfectly from the analysis to the animation to the music, even the thumbnail blew me away. Easy 9.5/10 for me, only can’t get a 10 cause I don’t really think their logic for Bill winning was very good, like saying Discord can’t regenerate form soul damage, while showing a clip from when he regenerated from being completely wiped from existence lol. But overall was still a fantastic episode.

I think said it best for the vs, bill won the fight but discord got what he wanted, in reality thats the important thing in a battle. you might lose but as long as you fought for your goal/s and they succeeded then you ultimately won, and thats what discord did

I'm not a MLP fan however i would be lying if I said this death battle wasn't good.

While I disagree with the episode (I just think Discord Conceptual regeneration is to much for bill). But with a fight that's so close I'm glad either winning if you ask me This episode really risen up as my second favorite all time episodes right below a personally close episode and seeing this episode just shut me up during my worry for the 2 week wait period. I wouldn't change anything about this episode and I can see this nothing every being close to this unique ever again
