1975: Altair BASIC was the first version of BASIC published by Microsoft. In 1973, Gary Kildall wrote CP/M - this wasn't just an interpreter - it the first disk operating system for a microcomputer.
I don't know who this interviewer is but just by the questions he asks of Bill I sense a degree of ignorance and even negativity. Regardless of how one feels about Bill Gates, he was a visionary in the computing world. I would suggest reading a book titled, Hard Drive: Bill Gates and the Making of the Microsoft Empire. Absolutely a great read.
Yeah. He managed to kill every competitor with tactics that were not criminal enough to actually result in severe penalties, and held computing back so much in the process. What a vision. What an achievement.
@@fixups6536 Thats exactly right. People think these guys are visionaries, intellectuals and creative artists when the reality is they are nothing more than no good cut throats who would sell their mother to make a deal.
@@fixups6536 It's a shame he didn't exhibit the same openness and collaborative work ethic that Gary Kildall lived by. The world would of been a better place. When everything becomes about profit, very few people gain.
@@fixups6536 I find the envious cries of mediocre people, like you, who have achieved nothing and will never achieve anything particularly funny. You are a perfect example of what happens when parents prefer to invest in cannabis instead of condoms.
we used to have legitimate media, its a shame the new generation doesnt know what we had not too long ago. things are so different its like a coup happened and propaganda replaced everything.
watching Bill, on RU-vid, in Chrome, on a Windows OS, on a Dell... that's what Bill and Steve always wanted us to end up with regardless of their competition!
Neither Bill nor Steve wanted anything like that. Bill would want you watching on MSN, in IE. Steve would have wanted what Alkatross wrote, but he would have wanted you to watch content authored strictly within the Apple ecosystem.
It is interesting how he can gloss over 1968-1975 when PGA could recount precise details of using the GE-635 from the Lakeside Teletype "closet", the KA10 at CCC in the UD with Steve Russell, Bonneville Power Authority under Bob Barnett, Harvard and then on to MITS where they used a KA10 at Albuquerque SD just as Micro-Soft was formed. It really seems as if Bill wasn't into it all until after Paul had figured out that this was all very important and forward thinking work.
The difference between Gates and Jobs was that Gates knew about computers and computing. Jobs was basically a marketing man with some interesting ideas (not all of them entirely original). He had little technical knowledge or interest. The idea of promoting Apple as a "lifestyle", for example, had already been done by Pepsi.
Interviewer: Graphical user interfaces are clearly easier to use. Bill: well, that's just not true... take Excel for example... it's the same. Nice try, Bill. We get that you're trying to dodge the question, but your lack of PR skills are definitely showing here. Even he knows he's wrong here - Windows just wasn't fully baked yet.
It very serious conversation. That an interviewer. Took advantage of your Mr Gates. It's very simple. The answer to the very first question? Is money. How disrespectful. Bill Gates didn't go around asking people to come to him. So US and WE. Need to remember how much work. This young man actually did so much more than any of US understand. 👍😔 The truth is that young Bill Gates life experience was very stressful. I can only imagine everything. That he experienced with time flying by. 😊😊😊 Thank God
I wonder what Elon Musk was doing during 1991? They mention Electric Cars, and I assume Elon wasn't part of that yet? I could look this up, but I'm lazy. Sorry.. lol
So true his say upon everything 🥺😖😫, I wish I knew of him since reason that the computer TB that I read write about of the Apple device competition in the industry even tend to mention Steve jobs as am not an interest person on devices rather on major course but about of programmes and operators they only tend to write of companies Ms but never to mention a person behind the work😒, that was very unhealthy
I am perplexed by all this talk coming out of Bill Gates mouth about a debate within IBM as to whether or not IBM would choose an 8 or 16 bit processor for the IBM PC. What I have heard was that IBM considered using the Motorola 68000 (which is a 32 bit processor internally with a 16 bit data bus) vs the 8088 (which is a 16-bit processor with an 8 bit data bus). They went with the 8088 due to concerns over Motorola's ability to supply sufficient 68000 parts at a suitable cost. Additionally, IBM had utilized the Intel 8086/88 family of 16 bit CPU's in prior designs such as the Display Writer. I've never heard that IBM ever considered utilizing an 8 bit microprocessor (such as the Motorola 6809 or MOS Technologies 6502) for their opening salvo into the microcomputer market.
Talking about the future like he already owns it... 30 years later, he became a simple American farmer... I wonder if he will be one of those eating bugs...
Gates and Schwab will be wearing skirts force feeding you bugs and jabbing you with random concoctions that they and their people are highly invested in
How many intellectual professors have been involved? I respect all my professors that I SAVED their AUTHOR written BOOKS. I RESPECT MY ORIGINATED AUTHOR. What instructions to what MICROPROCESSORS CHIP YOU CLAIMED BILL GATES?
You're only as successful as your master tyrants will want or plan for you to be. He never did much of anything lik eyou think he did. He has you fooled quite well.

You're going to be inspired soon. You're pal is behind the digital dollar soon to surfac.e Good bye Liberty there maestro! You idol wants you either dead or enslaved.
His look and way of speaking is far away from being a genius I wonder how he achieved his success I think the only reason belongs to his hard working personality although it's pretty dull and boring
Mr. Gates is not honest. He is not talking about where he gets from his Windows OS prototype (he called it MS DOS). He steal it from Gary Kildall, who was the founder of Digital Research. Gary Kildal was a professor of mathematics who created the first OS for personal machines. Then Microsoft recruited brilliant engineers from Borland company and they bring to Micro soft Borland's developed and designed windows classes. Microsoft just renamed it and declared as Microsoft Foundation Classes MFC. Those are Borland Foundation Classes. For example, Borland's windows class TWindows, or TMenu class, Microsoft renamed with CWindows and CMenu., same did for the Internet browser and steel it from Netscape company. Gates is Jewish, his mother was working at IBM and she played the role of engaging his son in IBM business.
You seem to be angry at Gates for no reason. There is no injustice in business but competition or partnerships etc. of course products are similar, no one can work isolated in this globalized world. Ideas are going to be found in many places. Also very strange to bring people’s origins etc. that’s very irrelevant in all conversations.
@@neil7090 that is not true. Gary Kildall gifted his OS source codes to University of Washington and Gates stall from there. Kildall wanted to sue Microsoft for stealing his sofware, but his lawyer told him that there is no law for protcting the intellectual property.
