These interviews are amazing to watch now. I remember watching some of them when I was in college back in the early 2000's but I have been binge-ing these Bill Maher/Larry King interviews for the past couple days. Bill and Larry have a great dynamic together and I can see why Larry enjoys having him on so often. You can tell that Larry is genuinely entertained by Maher. He gets legit belly-laughs during every interview.
Standard definition is standard definition, it didn’t really change a whole lot from the 80s to the 2000s, and this was recorded off a VHS to boot. Likewise, video quality hasn’t changed much in the HD era either, the rare 1080p video from 2004 looks identical to any 1080p video from 2024.
If what Bill said was so offensive and unforgivable, and if he was so toxic and couldn't be trusted to toe the line: why would they allow him to return for the rest of the season?
+Terros because that's how smart does, listening what the public wants *public interest my friend* Ive been planning to run for office and my political theme is "The Public Sucks!".. would anyone voted me? NO
Mitzi Paap I sincerely hope he wins the election. I'm quite sure a democrat is going to the white house. I was hoping that Elizabeth Warren would run myself though. (I do think it's time that a women becomes president). Maybe she'll be able to get a cabinet position. Policy-wise Sanders is up and above Clinton in every way. I'm hopeful about Sanders winning the primaries. He's on the right track now with the recent debate.
+sulezraz It's sad to hear Bill saying he doesn't believe in religion based on how humans interpret a religion. To me, humanity doesn't define the message of religion. The core of religion shouldn't be affected by the negative things humans do in the name of it. I'm a Christian and I don't think Jesus ever said kill someone else or hurt someone else.
Haha I love how Bill says, "nobody knew Bush was going to turn into a genius." Bill knows it's all the military industrial complex shaping public opinion during the beginning of the 2nd Iraq war.
There’s nothing cowardly about flying planes into buildings, he was right. That’s intense dedication. Stupid and selfish and vile yes, but not cowardly. Cowardly is shooting misses from several thousand miles away
@@Hipit55 admire? it has nothing to do with admiration whatsoever. i don't admire robert e. lee's cause but he was an effective general and thus statues were made of him. do i travel to see them? no. should they remain? it isn't my call.
@@Hipit55 robert E seems more debonair, more relatable but in terms of americans being slathered, i think he holds his own with them, yes. the same way you think anyone who says giving your life for a cause is brave has it coming when they fly next, i think men who didn't want to fight to prolong slavery didn't have it coming when they died. bill maher made statement on terrorists, i didn't.
@@marcyfan-tz4wj if you think the killing of thousands of innocent Americans is acceptable because the hijackers believed in what they were doing then you should be deported immediately to someplace like Afghanistan tobe with like-minded people like the Taliban. Enjoy your flight!!!!
Thank you, Mega Man Universe, for posting this. I love both of these guys. This was so entertaining and informative (since I was so young when Maher was fired).
The high point of my week was after me and my sister got off work we would smoke 3 big bowls of purple 💜 kush and watch politically incorrect I still remember
This came up in my feed today, probably because I’ve been watching Politically Incorrect shows uploaded 9 years ago by someone else. I never knew what happened to the show, and now I know. I loved it then, I’m even agreeing with people back then who were saying things nobody at the time believed, which are things that have happened since then. Was the Simpsons really prescient? Politically Incorrect certainly was! Thanks to the poster of this video. Now I know why I have resentment towards Jimmy Kimmel. He replaced that show I loved. Jimmy Kimmel
Jimmy Kimmel is good, don’t get me wrong… but I didn’t watch him early on because Politically Incorrect was gone and I stopped watching ABC. Incidentally ABC might be for sale. Some one like Bill Maher should buy it, sack everyone that cancelled him and then make if better.
I worship the ground Bill walks on. He is such an inspiration. He has taken me to task in the way I think and this has changed my life for the better. I feel less alone in the world by virtue of him being in it.
Larry: Bill Maher's our guest, hard to draw him out but we keep trying. LOL! I respect Maher's intellect and talent even though I don't agree with him on a great many issues. And Larry King was at his best when he had his late night nationwide radio program in the late seventies/early eighties. Populists have taken the Republican party and Stalinists have taken the Democrat party. The older I grow the more libertarian I become in my outlook.
Bill is truly Brilliant. Brilliantly talented, brilliantly funny brilliantly courageous and is a hell of a soldier. The 911 issue is an interesting one because it truly does raise a genuine debate which i can absolutely see both sides of the argument. Also being from England the issue probably doesn't cut to the nerve quite the same as it would if I was an American, although believe you me I was very upset and angry at the time. I really did share you guy's pain. I got to admit i've never heard Bill say what he said at 14.55 before about " the democrats nitpicking about what Bush knew.." I am surprised though and I disagree with him. I think that issue is VERY important. Maybe he's changed his mind since, especially after having to hear such crap from Republicans , and especially Republican Commentators. Lastly His " N word Joke". I think was Ill judged. I dont think there was any need to say such a thing, especially as it Really Was Not funny. It was a shame because Bill is such a warrior for minority's and anyone who suggest he's racist is clearly an absurd person. Apart from them couple of things though I think he's just GREAT and he is probably the person on TV that I agree with most, in fact I Never find myself disagreeing with him on ANYTHING. BIG RESPECT FROM ENGLAND BILL. I'LL ALWAYS BE A FAN MATEY ;-]
I pretty much agree with that assessment. I think he lapsed talking to Dyson, but it was very much not dropped as a slur, rather than just as an example. Ice Cube was on the following week, and gave a fairly stinging rebuke, without really denouncing Maher. The comment around 9/11 was as a reply to a guest, it wasn't ..wrong, but it got twisted as an attack on the USA Military personnel, which was never accurate.
@@benwu7980 Yep agree matey. In reality , there isnt ANY true free speech anywhere in the world, without some repercussions. Bloody hell ... lol he HAS said a few things i've disagreed with since my last post tho!! haha. He's tended to have put his head in the sand regarding the mega Rich n Republicans these days, but tbh he HAS done his bit now. His stance on Israel is just shocking, but i'm with him totally, when he says bout this trans craze ''not everything is about YOU!!''. AND the generally 'offending everything' thing.
@@Ryang403 In some context, I can't recall if it was Comedy Central, or ABC at the time that Politically Incorrect got 'cancelled' but I guess ABC. But it wasn't cancelled overnight from the comment. It was a slow leak of anyone that would advertise, until around 8 months later. If I ever think I've met someone that fully agrees with me on every issue, I'm basically talking to my mirror on the wall. Where (imo) things need to be rationalized, is where people are saying things they believe.. they may be wrong, but they aren't closed to being debated, and maybe have their views changed by a well presented argument / rebuttal. In that vein, I put my thoughts on Israel. I have views that do not fit many narratives, but I fully know there are people that are almost infinitely more learned on the subject.
I've got one of Bill Maher's illustrated children's books. It's titled 'I Got Fired, And Publicly Pooh-Poohed, For Using a Line Bill Hicks Said 10-Years Earlier.' Hilarious story. Lotsa fart jokes.
I'm child-free, vegan, atheist. I'm with you Maher and yes, you should run for the green party. Reagan was an actor before he was a president, why not a comedian?
It's currently August 2017 and we have a lying, narcissistic bully in the White House. He's a failed businessman, reality TV show "star" (*barf*) who knows nothing about the position he currently occupies. People have always catered to him because he comes from big money.........and they're still doing it! FFS So, I guess anything is possible!!!!
In 1956 my friend who happened to be a Catholic boy next door and I decided we were going to have a "Campfire Supper" and made a fire in our backyard and heated a can of beans and cooked some hot dogs. All of a sudden and right out of the blue Gloria Wood a papist convert from Trail, B.C. married to an Aussie aviator that survived WWII Arthur Wood suddenly realized THIS was Friday!!! OMG: to make a long story short my mother and I were wondering what to wear when they flew the Pope over to do the exorcism -- over a perishing frankfurter!!! GOOD GOD!!! 🤫🤗🤔😘🤣😂 And you wonder why I am an atheist??? 🤪😏🤭😂
Was Bill’s claim that the media’s reporting that his show was canceled due to sinking ratings fake news? Hmmm? I don’t know either. I’m just posing the question...🤓
At 23:00, crying wolf is what sunk the Lusitania. Every evening the British Admiralty issued a standard warning in Morse "Submarines active off of the Old Head of Kinsale" to the point where a seasoned mariner like Wm. Turner operated his ship in that very region at reduced speed due to fog and open portholes to invite in fresh air. Sadly six hours earlier a cargo vessel had been sunk in the same area by the same U-boat. The Admiralty's excuse: we had no capital ships available that could even keep up to the Lusitania at speed at which she should have been! And Turner got skewered!!!
m d Elsewhere it is spelt with two, in order clearly to annul the question of how silent the following 'e' is. For example 'annulled' requires the double 'l' or it would sound like "annewled"
Once Politically Incorrect left Comedy Central and went over to ABC, it just wasn't the same. I realize Maher did it to attract a wider audience but it lost some of its edge when it went over.
4:15 - seems very similar to the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on CBS, one promotion in ten years was what Craig got from CBS, with hardly any budget and David Letterman whose production company made the show looked like he had no involvement or interest in the show, and when Craig said he was stepping down from the show in 2014 Letterman looked as he care about 1% about it.
ur 100 percent right, i think craig ferguson would have been great at 1130 slot. he made that whole show on no budget and even wrote and sang the opening he is so talented, funny, and a great interviewer.
But I think Craig preferred it that way? More $ = more pressure. But he doesn’t seem to hold a grudge about it, bill seems like he holding a bit of a grudge. Also, maybe not dave, but Craig did seem to be promoted a bit by cbs. Not a lot, but a little. No idea about bill Maher pi. Never actually watched the show on air
In the aftermath of the attacks, U.S. President George W. Bush said that the terrorists responsible were cowards. In a Politically Incorrect episode on September 17, 2001, Maher's guest Dinesh D'Souza disputed Bush's label, saying the terrorists were warriors.[4] Maher agreed, and replied: "We have been the cowards, lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, {it's} not cowardly."
jimreid5 But it isn't moral courage to use civilians against other civilians, either. Maybe it's more like "temerity," which has a component of courage, but no moral component.
***** Used what to get rid? What he said about 911 right? But him pointing out that the 911 terrorists were not cowards was not what he said that caused him to lose his show. See my comment above.
+TheDeliciousbrownie Yea. But he's not willing to admit the fact that saying that was what got him fired. He just assumes it makes him look better if he says he got fired for saying the terrorists were not cowards.
i don't presume to understand american humour certainly, but did I just hear Bill Maher saying "I think young people should be discouraged from voting?" among a lot of other things that I most definitely agree with. why, though, is Bill Maher angry with Russell Brand for following up on it?
+Lenny Bruce Because Maher doesn't believe that. Not sure what the context was when he said that, but he's been supporting the most progressive Democrats ever since. He contributed 1 M$ to Obama's campaign in '08, and even tried to "flip a district" on his show.
He doesn't think "YOUNG PEOPLE" should vote (listen to his exact words), because young people are not as informed as they should be. You need to live through some economic crisis and life crisis before you can understand what issues matter to you and how to relate them to the politicians promising you bullshit. So his position is different from Brand's, who maintains that NO ONE should vote. Brand has a very different perspective, and he's right as well, but his solution calls for much bigger overhaul of "the system."
At 21:49, it is my belief that at the turn of the millennium, there was such anxiety about how computers would deal with everything going from 1999 to 2000 that the entire commercial airline industry didn't have one aircraft in the sky where the on-board computer would be confronted with that "00:00:00" scenario and how they would behave!!! That alone would make me consider Amtrak, as bad as it is. 😘
At 18:18, what was "special" Bill? I've heard big-boned Irish boys with prominent noses and a brash nature are often in line for the nickname "Plenty O'Tool" -- is that what is special Billy Boy??? 🤭🤔😘☺🤨🤣
Two things : Once You get this guys hair under control= he is quite handsome. That hair is insane. It`s a jew thing tho. One of our many negative points. The other one I kind off wanna yell at the screen "That door Closed and one is about to be opened where you can say FUCK! It`s not a bad thing- it`s the BEST THING!
