Bill Maher is awesome. I don't agree with everything he says, and he is often rude and annoying, but he has most issues right, and he can talk intelligently on just about everything, even when you do not agree with him. He provides a huge service for Americans to get both points of view on the issues, like we all used to get back when we had the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE.
+justgivemethetruth unfortunately the media and maher have been very successful swaying some sane people. acceptance doesn't change sanity or morals. yes he is intelligent but this only allows him a better platform of sales-man-ship. instance pot, what you don't hear is our children are influenced watching him and it is a gateway drug ,in law enforcement it's seen every day..also it's another cause/way to kill families on the road. another, we r on a world that takes care of us,filters deadly radiation called an atmosphere,not too close or far away from the sun and the universe is beautiful. do you realize how astronomical the odds are this was an accident and explosion..the bible i don't know much but since man got into translations,they could screw anything up..but one can't kick all the common sense out as a designed universe.

I love Bill Maher, but seeing him in that costume mocking Steve's death is the first time I've seen him in the light that people that hate him see him in. Now what he said about messing with animals may be true, its a bit far to mock someone for dying, especially when Steve wasn't trying to hurt or kill them.

In everyother country in todays society Bill isn't radical or a freethinker he is just like everyone else. If people came to Sweden they would see that we don't have to much to worry about as we don't have religious fanatics governing our country.
The "Look" mentioned you as a fiscal conservative strong military among other things - I therefore wonder what Mr. Maher thinks is a good economic agenda, who should be president as such. Voting for Ralph Nader I understand and Bob Dole - I also remember his support of Ron Paul -

I don't see how he can hold his Europhile views and still be "fiscally consersative" and pro-death penalty. He's likely changed his views on at least one of those issues. Taxes are good, when used like in Europe. The death penalty isn't a deterrent and the US, the only western nation that issues it, is the most violent western country.
Now we know about 911 and a slew of other mysteries...we have defended our leaders always but not at the expense of what we represent....if that is the case than we are not fighting our fight...we are fighting private wars and private wars should be fought by the private parties in their private world....don't bring your mess out to us....in any fashion be it legislation, recessions, depressions, bailouts....
He should run this interview on Real Time about his predictions of 2008. He was so spot on it was creepy. "Republicans say the government doesn't work. Yea, the way you do it!". One for the ages.
What I like the most about Bill is that even though he is mostly a Liberal he has no problem calling the left out on some of their bullshit. He has the most integrity of anyone on TV today.

cont. and the federal govt. didn't bail them out and it didn't end the world. The rich owners employed millions of workers thats the way it should work. If a rich man that owns a business that makes him $50 million .a year and the govt. wants to take $25 million of that, why would a smart business man stay in business. He would close it down or sell it take the whole $50 million invest it overseas where taxes are low and not pay the high U.S, taxes. American people will lose jobs So tax the rich
If Obama really wants to give the middle class a tax cut,he would cut back on federal spending, all obama has to do is sign it. If I was a rich man say making 2 million a year and in order to keep a million of that I would have to give the government a million, why wouldn't I just close my business keep the 2 million invest that money overseas at a much lower tax rate. So raise the taxes on the rich they do all the hiring , have you ever worked for a poor person.

Bill has his brilliant, insightful moments and great political satire ability, but one thing is for sure: he's made millions and he is a capitalist. Let's hear him put down celebs with money... not gonna happen... he is one of them.

Bill Maher is not filled with hate or anger. It is the willful ignorance of religion and politics that flips a switch on inside of him. It looks like anger, but it is really sorrow for his fellow man, masked in frustration.
The usual msm crap. You're a "frothing" partisan if you think Bush should face prosecution. And Bill doesn't think that would "serve the country." Really? The hell with the law and Constitution, Bill?
Moreover, in my country all men are sonscripted as was I. Still I don't believe that the mere fact of being in the military make a person more credible, informed, sound-thinking or anything. On the examples you gave as bad investment choices - I'm not fully informed on all of them, still some were not "failing" at the time the investment was made. And would you rather stick to just oil and gas and coal that can simply run out at a point in time?

Ok, I didn't make the assumption that Obama is a socialist or spreads socialism alongside other rather harsh accusations - you did, therefore it seems that the burden of proof should be on you in the first place. I am not saying any political leader is jesus incarnate, rather that some of them have milder and more reasonable positions. Watchin republican debates lead me to believe that Romnay alongside every other candidate (except Ron Paul) had no intention to end the wars you mentioned.

The other two are far more affective because they go at issues in a creative and fun (yet very pointed) manner. It's called sarcasm. I know TONS of conservatives who watch Colber & Stewart on a regular basis. That will be your ONLY chance to convert the right. Bill Maher is simply too elementary in his approach.

I'm a moderate democrat who is frustrated with my party and who really can't stand the Republicans who as Maher said do not want to get involved. Bill Maher is a great comedian because he sees through the stupid bullshit of politics.
I dissagree on his comment on Steve Irwin. In Grand Cayman @ Stingray city, I was hovering and touching stingrays that were up to 10 feet. I might have heard that Irwin was impaled by a manta ray, which may be more aggressive. Im no expert on marinelife, but he was just hovering over the ray. I was making direct contact. Several people were. This was 9 years ago, and I heard they discontinued the 100% interactive experience that I had, but I think that was before Irwin's death in 06'.
Looked it up, turns out you are right. It' just seemed strange that such beliefs would co-exist with his other thoughts on science, progress etc. The frightening thing is when his audience starts applauding while he is raving about how government is making money on you while trying to eradicate a dangerous stem of a virus...

Its not about him being super man or being a politician who can do something. It's about the way he thinks and expresses his beliefs to the world. This is why Bill Maher is a champion of the free minds. And besides he mostly makes fun of conservative religious tea partying rightwing anti-science people.

There are intelligent men who got rich by working for companies like Monsanto and Stratfor, so I think Bill chose the better profession.
Bill is correct there are more independents in America than there were when Bill began hosting Politically Incorrect in 1993. I know,after years of being a Democrat I left my party earlier this summer. I hold progressive and libertarian views like Mr. Maher but I don't care about the success of either party.

It's psychological and derives from childhood traumas. By the way... Mr. Maher also seems to be consumed by quite a bit of hate.
Ten years on from 9/11, I think a lot of people could agree with that comment. Problem was, at the time the whole Western world was in a delicate state and it was easy to take such a statement out of context, which it most certainly was. It's not un-American to state the truth.

I'm confused, aren't libertarians conservative on economic issues? Maher is outspokenly liberal on economic issues, and regularly bashes republicans as being the party of the wealthy. My understanding of libertarians may be off.

I think his point is simply that he doesn't know. He sees nothing wrong with admitting that he just doesn't know. I respect him for that very much for that reason.
