This was supposed to be a historic draft class. Wiggins, Parker, and Embiid were expected to be one of the greatest top 3 pick selections ever. All three were “can’t miss” prospects, especially Embiid and Wiggins, but Embiid is the only one that turned into a superstar.
Stauskas shot his way to big ten player of the year that year. He was money in the tournament too and lost on a buzzer beater to Kentucky. And on his best day he is still not petrovic lol
@@thomashigginsmusic I think he's still got some things to offer at least off the bench as a bench mob scorer. Man's been always pretty good at finding his spots on that end of the floor. Also pretty good at playmaking when he puts his mind to it. I think we've seen the ceiling but not which team he fits yet
Let’s be honest this happens all the time, we really don’t have no clue how these draft classes will turn out, but if you think about this really was a deep draft as far as the amount of really good role players in it and sufficient amount of stars, Randle, Embiid, and The Joker in the second round!
People, these are draft comparisons or "ceilings". It's just supposed to give you an idea of how the players play and their potential. You really think Jalen is saying Wiggins is definitely gonna be Tmac? Relax.
Kendall facts I still listen to Simmons’ pod all the time but even I’ll admit in recent years it’s not quite the same, to me both him and ESPN suffered from the breakup (well bill still made a TON of money but I just mean content wise)
@@JoeTuman Grantland Bill was on another FUCKING LEVEL. Rewatchables is alright and Book of Basketball 2.0 was FANTASTIC but B.S. Pod kinda sucks sometimes. Bill still aiight by me.
Pre draft hype is hilarious to me. No one really knows how these teenagers will pan out. Even this “terrible” draft class now, no one truly knows how these 18-20 year olds will progress. Maturity is a huge part of it and almost impossible to predict
if parker doesn’t get hurt that PP comparison was accurate along with prob a heavier version of melo . and the elfrid payton comparison is easily the worst one
Both were elite defenders coming into the league with questions on whether they can shoot. sounds crazy but it’s not a horrible comparison. despite how it’s turned out for EP
I think Stauskas is the worst lol. Literally lasted 2 minutes in the league and they're comparing him to the supernova that was Drazen Petrovic. I'm Canadian, so I was rooting for Nik, but you could just tell he was too soft for the NBA
Nobody ever talks about Jabari Parker as a “what if he was never injured” type. Dude had like 3 acl tears in 3 years and showed promise in his rookie year
Bill really said he felt T-Mac's defense was what made him special?? Dude was an all-time great scorer at his peak - never made any all-defensive teams
Julius Randle was the most accurate one, Wiggins second, Gordon comes in third if you want to compate him to Marion on the Mavs maybe. The rest were all terrible even though they were all pretty bad.
When Grantland died i was so sad..Bill and Jalen would have been a new dominate generation of Espn personalities instead of whatevertf they are doing now...they were so good together and good in their own right
It's part of the job description to tell everyone they did a good job in the draft. Very rarely do you hear guys dissing picks. They always want to give the best case scenario, which these absolutely all were the type of players these guys could have become.
It’s sad to say that the Knicks aren’t going to have any place for Payton on the roster in 2021-22. I don’t know how many options he has right now. Just too inconsistent of a shooter. Maybe on past potential alone, he’d land somewhere on a flyer.
Lol they were just naming players that looked alike by color and size lol😂 Nik staskas to Manu and Drazen. Wiggins to Tmac Aaron Gordon to Shawn Marion Joel Embiid to Serge Ibaka and Tim Duncan Julius Randle to Zach Raldoph Noah Vonleh to LaMarcus Aldridge Elfrid Payton to Gary Payton
You're really complaining about comparing draftees to players of similar size? The only player that "color" could be a factor is Stauskas. Most players are black, so most draftees would probably be compared to a black player. Tell me, which white player are you going to compare Wiggins, Gordon, Embiid, Randle and Payton to?
Okay Aaron Gordon lightskin But he is African decent which is label under a black Guy. Why did they compare him with Shawn Marion? Both lightskins. Especially with AG athletic abilities of dunking. Shawn Marion doesn't even dunk😂 Nik is white. Like you said there are alot of Black guys in league. Why they name Manu and the other drazen guy. They both white and same size 6'5 SG.?? Randle to Raldoph Both look alike from hair, Body and position ans color.( Buzz cut) to 6'8-6'9 and black.
@@Coe_Music "Shawn Marion doesn't even dunk" -- Please search 'marion dunks' before exposing yourself as uninformed. "Randle to Raldoph Both look alike from hair, Body and position" -- 'body and position'? That's the entire point of player comps. No smart person is going to player comp Zion Williamson to Zach Lavine even if they both are great dunkers (since you're so fixated on dunking) mainly because they play different positions and have entirely different body types. Again... tell me, which white player are you going to compare Wiggins, Gordon, Embiid, Randle and Payton to?
Wiggins a damn solid player. Embid doesn't impress me as much as he should - sure he can have some nice season games but in the playoffs he hasn't delivered(and now gl with harden) He should have held back his ego and try to help Ben Simmons a bit more
Joel Embiid- Alonzo Mourning/Patrick Ewing Nikola Jokic- Arvydas Sabonis/Bill Walton/Wes Unseld Zach LaVine- Vince Carter Clint Capela- Dale Davis Aaron Gordon- Larry Nance/Stromile Swift Marcus Smart- Bruce Bowen Spencer Dinwiddie- Dennis Johnson Andrew Wiggins- Latrell Sprewell Julius Randle- Zach Randolph
There's rarely a sure star in any draft, you never really know until they play against nba competition, so I dont judge too harshly on predictions that don't turn out. Only if someone drafts the wrong guy like 9 out of 10 times like Jordan and Charlotte will I judge.
@@BaconPants_ doesn’t matter, he ain’t improving lmao he was actually better during his early Minnesota days. Makes me wonder if he lost the heart to play the game.
@@BaconPants_ Well, I'm a fan of greatness in sports. I was really disappointed when Wiggins didn't become the player people expected him to be. Some even compared him to MJ or Kobe which is crazy. LaVine even made the allstar before him lmao. Well, I guess.. Wiggins is turning into a great role player for the Warriors.
Who knows what Parker, or even Exum would have become. Rankle breaks his leg on opening night. All those injuries would be enough to ruin anyone’s career.
Lets not forget this draft was supposed to be the best draft of the century. The hype leading up to it was ridiculous. So much so at the 2013 draft they mentioned the 2014 draft a lot.
When they say their comparisons they mean what the players absolute ceiling can be. Their not saying “This is who the player will play exactly like.” People start freaking out and roasting analysts when a rookie isn’t averaging 30ppg Bc they heard someone say the comparison was T-Mac.
Jabari Parker and Paul Pierce is the greatest comp ever. If Pierce was drafted at that time instead of the mid 90’s he would’ve busted out of the league and been trash too. Man couldn’t score effectively in his first 6 seasons either, like a trash can with feelings until 2007.
Crazy how most of us thought this draft was going to be great, and then only two players in the entire draft (correct me if I'm wrong) became All Stars
Had they said Larry Bird for Julius Rnadle they wouldnt have been wrong. 24pts 10rbs 6asst 80ft 40pct3 only two players EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE NBA #KNICKSTAPE
