Billie Holliday had the last laugh. Anslinger was addicted to Morphine at the end of his life when he had health problems. It’s so ironic because the war on drugs is racist that he created. And people are still singing Strange Fruit years later!

This scene was so raw and jarring but it avenged Billie’s legacy. This is where Andra earned her nomination!! She captured all the pain and depth of Billie and highlighted how much of a badass she was! The looks, her tone, that laugh whew, Andra transcends!!! Brilliant!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Andra played this role amazingly! Billie Holiday was the voice of her generation. She told him straight FACTS. Strange Fruit is a song that sings the reality of America’s evil towards Black Americans. It is because of America’s hatred for Black people that the song will always be relevant and live on through the people. Billie knew the song was bigger than her situation, which’s why she laughed. His grandchildren and millions of others are singing her song and her legacy is alive and well today. She is a TITAN of Jazz music and a voice of a people who have been attempted by the U.S government to be made silent for 400 years. God bless this woman for her voice, art and life. She really didn’t know how much history she was gonna make with her boldness.

This poor woman had such a hard life and on top of all of the hardships of her personal life had to deal with all of the racism in America. This is insanely tragic. Just goes to show, life isnt fair. We live in a really dark existence. Empathy and understanding of all of our differences is within all of our grasps. We should try harder. There are too many stories like this.

I was a little girl if 8 when I First Lady Day as grown women i understood her pain and her music being from New Orleans and the south in period jazz human rights than off to the Bay Area I was shock about this movie and just finish but I always knew the feds was at her death bed they just wouldn’t give her peace but this movie answered a lot of ??? Great bio and movie hands up to the young lady who played her she was great and I’m a Diana fan but she sound like Billie Andra ❤❤ 1:32
