Obviously not what you were driving at, but "Billy and the Cloneasaurus" is an actual thing someone wrote, presumably after watching this episode. All I'll say about it is that it's... not a Jurassic Park rip-off.
The utterly defeated look on Skinner's face by the end of what could have very well been a rant that went on for several minutes is what makes this for me.

We'd better get rid of Apu. Oh, I know, we'll just say he's a racist stereotype! Nevermind that he's one of the most beloved Indian Characters on TV and is usually depicted in a good light.
Considering this is Skinner, there's only two ways the story could go: Number one, his 'elementary school principal' side is in charge and it's a sweet happy story where nothing seriously goes wrong. Number two, his 'Vietnam PTSD' side is in charge and it's violent to a degree that makes the actual Jurassic Park look like an episode of 'Barney and Friends.' There is no middle ground.
@@TetsuDeinonychus Or better yet, it starts off nice and sweet, then it progressively gets worse, and suddenly it ends in a bloody massacre where Billy loses his arm... And then it jumps right back to the tone it had at the beginning, with a cheerful message for the readers about why cloning dinosaurs is a bad idea :D
You have to remember that in the simpsons universe, continuity is only treated as a polite suggestion, the show constantly contradicts its own lore and mythos.
what makes it so funny is that he was already down and out then he picks himself up by talking about his future plans on being a novelist and then apu crushes his dreams
@@NathanDraxter Apu was probably waiting for him to say the title, in the case if it was something that may have sounded very interesting/ thoughtful in his mind as the main / only redeeming aspect despite it being "an idea that has already been done."
To be fair to Apu, what we Skinner thinking? First, to have an idea that has already been done and then to give it such a terrible title. It was oncthe best sellers list for 18 months.. one of the most popular movies of all time I MEAN COME ON ARMIN WHAT WERE YOU THINKING
At this point in time, Apu is just a convenience store clerk with no backstory. The humor comes from the surprise that someone with that job would be so knowledgeable on the subject and tear Skinner a new one
it's actual quite simple...because BILLY AND THE CLONEASAURUS is friggin hilarious, and such a SKINNER thing to do, if he had indeed come up with that idea if JURASSIC PARK wasn't a thing...
This is why (classic era) Apu is more than the ethnic stereotype he was conceived as. This is one of those moments that realizes him as a fully developed character, and is a standout performance by Hank Azaria.
To be fair, it wasn't the people who had (fair complaints) that were the problem... it was the people that decided to remove Apu. Doing that made the people talking about their experiences into bad guys. I mean, is it really wrong for people who had to deal with executives expecting the Apu voice or kids bullied for Apu to talk about their experiences??? It's the people who overreacted that made Apu remembered as a stereotype....
@TheDeathmail I'm talking about how Hank Azaria has said in interviews that Apu was based on an irate Indian convenience store worker he knew at the time. The script didn't call for anyone ethnically specific for the role of store clerk; that's all Azaria. In his first appearance he's a bit rude. It's not until later on that they develop his character, and he became much more dimensional.
@@TheDeathmail South Park has a guy who is literally white with DID doing Yellow Face as a Chinese restaurant owner and they didn't get rid of him. They did however get rid of Mr. Hankey to make fun of getting rid of Apu. They even called it "The Problem with Poo." Lampooning "The Problem With Apu." While also having Mr. Hankey move to Springfield where Apu welcomes him. So ya you're right, Disney chickened out.

I like to think that Apu just spent the entire day yelling at Skinner here. This is what Skinner gets to look forward to retelling to his mother when he gets home. What a lovely day this was.
This has always been one of my favorite moments in the show's history and I still laugh every time I watch it. It's just so freaking random how angry Apu ends up getting and the idea that he carried on like that for a while makes it even funnier. By the end, when he's pushing his neck forward, i'm done. LMFAO Skinner looks like his hopess, dreams, and pride were all crushed forever. Then, "Thank you, come again".
I love how Bart and Milhouse just stand there listening to Apu slowly chewing Skinner's head off for who knows HOW long, like this was the best thing they could've been doing that day.
This is hands-down the best scene in the entire series. It comes completely out of nowhere, it is edited with precision, and it shows the only element of eracibility in the otherwise (up to that point) two-dimensional Apu. Finding his completely random-hot button cracks me up every time I see it.

Its not "out of nowhere" in the context of the rest of the episode, you clearly don't know what "random" means, and prior to this episode the Simpsons had done an entire episode in the same season where Apu came to live with the Simpsons that explored his character extensively.

jeez, u just won't let go of coming at people who call it random lol... i mean, i get it, since Apu is clearly responding to Skinner's ridiculous idea, so it's quite pinpointed rather than accurate, but wow... 3 comments coming at them... im holding back coming at people for the lack of acknowledging that the best part of this scene isn't Apu, it's the fact that Skinner has no idea what Jurassic Park is and then gives it the world's greatest title in the history of anything lol... i can just mumble BILLY AND THE CLONEASAURUS to myself for no apparent reason, and literally just start laughing, looking like a crazy person

I'd like to imagine Apu's been hearing Seymour talking to himself about story ideas for days or even weeks, and this was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
You got to sympathize with Skinner in this scene. Coming up with basically the same idea as Michael Crichton and due to living under a rock for so long being unaware that Crichton beat him to it.
This might be my favorite joke. It comes out of nowhere and it’s perfectly delivered. Skinner being so out of touch, he come up with an idea that’s worse than the successful product that came before it lmao.
I love this so much. Just out of nowhere, Apu becomes enraged by something as trivial as Skinner not knowing how successful Jurassic Park was. It's so random, and yet so perfect. xD
Fun fact: Someone actually did write a book called Billy and the Cloneasaurus, though from what I've read of the premise, it's different to what Skinner describes. Also, in case anyone's wondering, yes, there is a one-star review that consists entirely of Apu's rant, complete with the "Thank you, come again."
Might be one of the best Simpsons jokes. The fact it's so random and also tied into the plot is brilliant. Coming up with a stupid movie idea is exactly what a middle aged man going through a crisis would do. Apu, who is normally so calm, going into a rage over the idea is hilarious.

This is non sequitur humor done right, because it's not truly out of nowhere. It connects us to Skinner being completely out of touch and to the fact that he doesn't really have much going for him outside of being the principal. It's wonderful showing and not telling.
I always loved to think how later, when Skinner unintentionally redirects those military shells at Apu’s store, right after he’s finished installing and filling those gas pumps. It was sort of his revenge for chewing him out earlier.
Better Zombie Simpsons episode pitch: Skinner is brought in to ghost-write Jurrasic World, after he finds out the story is similar to his draft for "Billy and the Cloneasarus"

I love the thought that Apu just berates him for fifteen mintues. One of the most suprisingly memorable scenes for me, as this really didnt have anything to do with the episode; its the one where Skinner gets fired
