And he, too, almost destroyed himself with heroin. And look at his face at 16:50. As the reporter said, there's a stigma to rock 'n' roll, sex drugs, and rock 'n' roll. The facial expression says it all.
@@desertrose1226 I DON'T KNOW why I DIDN'T notice his good looks back in the 80's! But, the truth is you pick your music for the SOUND, NOT for the singer's appearance. I guess because I'm older too, I STILL think Billy is good-looking in the Keith Richards way!❤
He gives the best interviews of anyone I’ve ever seen. He’s very articulate. He knows exactly how to explain his thoughts. I love listening to him being interviewed by anyone. It’s always different
Oh but he still is sexy at 68, for flip sake, which I thinks absolutely incredible considering all the different canning of drugs and alcohol abuse, over the decades, and how he very nearly lost his leg
He still is sexy gorgeous billy idol, so charismatic, and very intelligent and well read down to Earth fella, if you haven't already read his biography called dancing with myself.i would highly recommend it, honest, and raw and debauch, ha.
I remember seeing Billy Idol for the Rebel Yell tour in 1985 in St. Louis. It was a crazy good concert! His keyboardist was so wasted they had to carry her onto the stage, lol! I was a young teenager and modeled myself after Billy! I went to a high school in the country and was the only guy that had shock white spiked hair and was into him and punk rock and industrial music. It was a crazy time! Long live Idol!
Very articulate, intelligent, humored, with a great perspective on effects of music and his own intent. Genuine mix of humble and ballet. Pretty and masculine, boyish and manly, renaissance meets punk. God bless you billy then and now. Love Steve Steven's and his guitar too. They look so different but their alchemy was fantastic- Billy's voice and raw masculine voice and body... with Steve's guitar and feminine make up, classy duds. Wonderful duo and both seemed such nice guys, lads, gentlemen.
I love watching this interview of Billy Idol again and again it's good to look back he was born to create music and with his charm and good looks he is amazing. He has a heart of gold he is funny and I adore his smile. We were dancing to his music in the 80s 90s even now He wasn't meant to be a pilot or bricklayer LOL. Sending warm greetings from Eve biggest fan Melbourne Australia 😘😘😘🌟🌟🌟🌟🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Loved the part where he said he don't have to be a high publicity artist because the music stands behind him. Mad respect for that and that's what makes Billy Idol the BEST.
I'll never understand why so many people think punk rockers or rockers are stupid. Most are highly intelligent and I think they knew this and tried at every level to discredit their role in life. Billy was cool with pretty much every group in school. Punks, jocks, average children whatever. I can't even remember how many times I saw him live but I will never forget the first time. 8 year's old screaming rebel yell. My dad played in a band so I saw a lot of cool shows.
Scary cool, this guy. No one today with this style and attitude. Today's boring. Music is shit. He was the punk elvis. I think actor Paul Bettany looks like Billy Idol.
Isn't it cool to be able to see this and now know what he has all accomplished and done by 2021. Things he even didn't know what all the future held or songs he would write. Your a thrill Billy Idol and a cutie pie too! Steve is good looking too, rocks that guitar and well! The best duo ever!
@@desertrose1226 Don't know about the beer, he has admitted to occasionally falling back on other things, that might have kept him from spreading out, like most do. (everyone needs a vice....as long as you keep it under CONTROL)
Janel- yea what was the question that made him say??>> "no not with this haircut, never even thought about it" Whatever it was made him have such a beautiful smile on his face!!
Billy Idol is the Elvis Presley of punk rock. He embodies the rebellious and fearless spirit of late 70s punk mixed with the magnetic dancing performances of the mid 50s rock n’ roll era. The fact that he chose Steve Stevens as his guitarist also gave him a melodic heavy metal/hard rock edge. This unique combination of styles contributed to his success and authenticity.
LOVE how intellectual & Honest he is!! Like during the first half of that 77' interview(not shown here) when ask what he would do with a whole lot of money & he gave an honest answer when he said he'd spend it on drugs & having 'great FUN'
Billy idol tudo de mais encantador tem toda uma magia particular que o torna esse artista espetacular coisa fofa gostoso dono dos meus sonhos de menina até hoje amo😍😚👍❤
Just loved every minute of this interview. He has a great sense of humour and fun. My favourite song was always Rebel Yell and if I liked it turned out they became so popular after that song and I believe to this day and I still love that song it's an obsession. Billy had great energy very passionate about each song but the videos also had a lot to do with music in general becoming so popular. Television did a lot for the music industry. Molly Meldrum and countdown was fantastic. Billy idol rebel with a heart very confident and intelligent. 💛💛💛💛💛
I want my I want my MTV I miss this show it was an awesome show. I was lucky enough to see him in concert when he came to Colorado. He played at Red Rocks now that was an awesome show outside. I still have the T-shirt. Great interview.
I recognised the voice of Mr Molly Meldrum as a fellow aussie- YESSSS!! What a sensational personality Billy has. Really likeable. Gorgeous. Such a great upload xx
Thanks for posting this. One of the interviews is 1986 actually which I've seen a bunch of small flashbacks for on VH1 80s themed shows in the 2000s, great to see the full thing
Molly did both interviews- notice the difference in how he treated Billy in 77 vs. 87. He never thought he would be successful. Back then he thought Billy was just another punk kid in the UK with a band making noise so he didn't take him seriously, but in 87 it was a more respectful interview bc he knew BFI was the real deal!
Ele é um artista mesmo muito diferenciado tem esse jeito especial de se além de lindo gostoso tem um super carisma inteligência magia única amo esse anjo dourado😎👍❤❤💋😙
John Lydon is entertaining, but he flip-flops too much. He's so adamant about whatever he's talking about, then you hear him in another interview equally adamant about the opposite. I'd like to see him drop the facade for a change.
The British press pretty much ended his career in the UK, no wonder he left for the US. They did it to Gary Numan who committed the crime of scoring three number one albums in less that two years. Unbelievable.
If you're not miserable, or not new or are not influenced by the bands in the latest 'cool checklist', the British press always hate you. And if you suffer from the cardinal sin of being successful, they really go to town... right until you die (and then you are deified to sainthood). If you want to see the full cycle of the British press in action, look no further than Sinead O'Conner..
Stratomies niin saatanasti Yea thank you for saying this. Lots of rock n roll all over the place. Just ain’t on the radio or in your recommended RU-vid playlists
His way with words adds so much more to his charisma, that voice colour raspiness his got it all❤️🔥. Ken doll, stunning, charismatic, articulate ,a fast thinker and totally charming. Himself from head to toe with a ravishing sense of style❤️🔥💋 also he takes his profession seriously has ardent passion for it and still rocks out. Gorgeous and intelligent with a killer sense of humour, rock on baby 😍😘 .. top-notch delicious never once bored seeing his interviews
At the beginning it was an interview from 1977 but he aged well in 10 years(because the other interview is from 1987)with drugs, alcohol, sex(okay you not getting older from sex ;-))) and Rock´n Roll=Punk!!!
Yep. he was only 31 or 32 and looked mid 20s. He looked hella young for a long time (I'd say the age didn't start catching up to him until the late 2000s) but still looks good for his age even now.
JPMcFly1985Two #FeelTheBern i also notice his vocal changes, still real good, but there's a difference in his singing with Generation X 70s...then solo in USA 80s, 90s and this new album 2014 a whole new sound with his voice.. i love all of his material but my favorite will always be his GX days, that's when he was at his BEST!
@@andrear1751 No, he sounds a lot like this in Interviews of the time. He was well into his drug taking by this point. Nowadays he doesn't do that weird sniffing/sucking sound thing anymore as he is clean.
Heart is beating fof You whatever You were , are or will be avnd to not plan too much, just see from day to day and get stronger sounds likre good advice from Your younger Self💪 Forward...GET RID OF OLD " BALLAST "BURDENS Kiss Your eyes and play one more..🍓
