All gave some, Some gave all is DAMN RIGHT This old Army veteran wishes everyone got this concept Billy you know, you lived it and thank you for your service brother If people can't or won't serve, at least support and respect those of us who have and do
I 100% agree... this whole album was amazing, it was his first and they screwed up when they did Achy Breaky Heart as the first single. This song and Words by Heart are the two best.

I have uncles that served and survived Vietnam, and while they didn't give all, it took everything from them. Thank you for your service to our country, Billy.
Thank you Billy for your service. My nephew Billy is Army Special Forces & is currently deployed. Are family is a military/1st responder family & I truly appreciate that you react to all the different military songs🇺🇸
U.S. Army, 1990-1996. I was actually stationed in the 101st at Ft. Campbell when this video was filmed there. Still one of my favorite military themed songs. Gets ya every time!
Thanks for this reaction. Billy Ray didn't get a lot of play and was considered a one hit wonder. Funny how time passes and we see hidden gems after the fact. Great reaction and great song
Thank you for reacting to this song. I play it every Remembrance Day (Veterans Day to you American friends) and it is a must tradition in our home. I play it for my Veteran hubby of 46 years, who served for 36 years and has gone on many tours, including Afghanistan. Love from Canada Billy Ray Cyrus was 31 yrs old when he recorded that song in 1992 and was on his first album. BTW, thank YOU for YOUR service also.
I've been a fan of his since 1992, I met him in 1999. it is a true song, Sandy Cane was an actual vet from the Vietnam war. He was 32 to 35 in this video. He and his ex wife wrote this song, with Don Von Tress. The song became an anthem to soldiers everywhere, the song gained national acclaim after the 9/11 attacks. His talent shows in most everything he does but this song, well it's timeless. More than once his music has helped me, saved me from taking my own life at 13 (she's not crying anymore is the song). the song is from the early 1990's nearly 30 years later it evokes a feeling in many, that is the power of music, and Billy Ray has a gift. Thank you for your service! and for a great reaction to my favorite singer....
Great reaction! The album *Some Gave All* is a historic album it remains the biggest selling debut album of all time for a male solo artist selling well over 20 million copies worldwide and certified 9x platinum.
Love your reaction. My dad is a USAF Vietnam Vet. - as for me i wasn't a vet my self but I was born at Cannon AFB when my dad was stationed there after his time in Vietnam. Take care all and A BIG thanks to All Vets of All Services :)
I was a Navy Hospital Corpsman (Medic) in Vietnam (3 Tours). I had 4months of basic medical training and two months of combat medical training. One of my tours in Vietnam I was on a ship in the Mekong Delta. Me and another corpsman were the only medical personnel on board. We were taught that during combat conditions we were to be on opposite ends of the ship. The 2 corpsmen we replaced were together during a fire fight and they both got killed.. I saw a lot of young bodies torn apart. Some I could not save. This song kills me every time I hear it. Billy Ray Cyrus wrote this song as a tribute to all military people. He has toured a lot of Military Hospitals and performed for the guys over seas.
My great grandfather served in ww2 Vietnam and the Korean War. He was a bitter man before he got dementia, but I am proud of the man he was. He has been married to my great grandmother for 74 years, almost 75. And to this day he sings her her favorite song every night before she falls asleep. Her memory is completely gone, but the one thing she has never forgotten is him ♥️
He wrote this song about the Vietnam Veteran mentioned in the song and this song is what got him the record deal. I think he is on album 15 or 16 now and really enjoy his music.
my grandpa was in the army he stormed normandy in WW11 while there he saved his patoon not only once but twice He was awarded 2 puple hearts 7 metels total When he passed away many years later we played this song at his funeral and the men that was still living that he saved when it came to the 2nd verse they came to his casket and soluted him one of the most thouching heartfelt things I have ever seen in my life Paul Metcalf my grandfather will always be my hero...ty to all the vets and the ones still searving
I would like to say thanks to everyone who lived or died for this great country of ours and for the loved ones who holds everything down here at home until our soldiers come back home because the mother's, father's and spouse never get the recognition that they deserve because they do work extremely hard by keeping the home front going.
Firstly, I wanted to thank you for your service. I didn't serve but my father, husband and two sons were. One out of the two is currently serving. But as a mom there is nothing quite like that first hug when your kids make it back home alive. I could never not pay hommage to all who has served or currently serving. Most people don't really understand until they walk among those hallow hills in Arlington National Cemetery or any the many cemeteries around this country!!I thought I knew given Military family here, until I was laying wreaths on those heros buried in Arlington last December.🇺🇲👏👍
Now, if someone would record a song giving tribute to the families of those who served, and the families of those who never came back. They deserve at least as much honor as the rest of us. They're still sacrificing.
I LOVE THIS SONG !! I can still sing this song word for word verbatim.. Thank you for your service.. Some Gave All 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 I don't think that picture (2:04) is of Billy Ray Cyrus because I don't think Billy Ray Cyrus ever served in the military, most likely that picture is of someone he knows and is really close to that would be my guess
This was early 90s I believe. This has always been one of my top 5 favs of tributes for our military heroes; I've always thought that had Cyrus not gotten so full of himself back then it would've received it's proper recognition.
I adore this song. As for his age when it came out--I want to say it was on the same album as Achy Breaky Heart. So... early to mid 90s? Something like that.
Thank you so much for your service!! I am the daughter, wife, mother of veterans. I couldn't watch military movies until my son came home because I have a WILD imagination. But I appreciate you all for everything you do for our country.
He was 32 to 34 in this, the song is a true story about a Vietnam Vet Named Sandy Cane that Billy Ray and his Ex wife met. The song spawned the Iconic phrase "All Game Some, Some Gave all" it was released on his debut album in 1992 of the same name. By far this song should be heard more and more. The footage was from the first Gulf War Return
