He could've easily gotten past 10,000 yards and probably a Hall of Fame night if he didn't get hurt. I mean before Barry Sanders, he was the all-time leading rusher for the Lions.
He was one the elite backs guys who r threat to go all the way everyone they touch the balls few backs on this level Simpson Sayers Sanders Dorsett the best I've ever seen
Billy ran like a mean Barry w/hands like a WR. He was such a talented player. Like magic on the field w/the ball. My opinion, if a healthy Billy Simms played a 8-10yr career, he would've retired on the Mt Rushmore of greatest RB'S all-time.
I remember watching him as a kid. He was definitely my favorite to watch as I grew up right outside of Detroit...... Number 20 has been pretty good for the Detroit Lions over the years!!
I love Billy sims, and while I realize that his style of running has been his ,and his only. He runs like Billy Sims. Now watching him as I have for the past 40 years , when I watch him and the style of running back that he is , only one name comes to mind.......... He has a running style very , very, very reminiscent of the late great Walter Payton.
Great video. Hard to believe that Detroit fans were fortunate enough to watch Billy Sims and then Barry Sanders star at RB for the Lions. Imagine the two of them on the same team at the same time. Billy Sims never broke stride, he relied on a combo of moves and straight ahead speed. Barry Sanders broke stride and reversed positions instantly.
Dang due to #attorneymisconduct RU-vid interfered what I had to say after reviewing the "bad knees" claims, well bad toes maybe but starting '84 James Jones and Massey (bad knees since they opened Silverdome in 75) took over. Billy was seen playing fumbling in Denver week 6 and that was about it. Looks like he was bound for Houston in 84 #USFL but for his agent committing fraud, #corruptattorney #fraudulent misrepresentation and attorney agent ties to gambling, kept him off rosters even when folks like Doug Williams was welcomed back '85 and beyond😢 James Jones was getting 1st string snaps at RB in '84 preseason against IND😑
Ok third time due to #DDOS by RU-vid. Unfortunately #attorneymisconduct and fraud by his agent, botched deal to #USFL in 84 had more to do with than "bad knees". He still played but starting '84 preseason folks like James Jones and Massey who opened the dome in '75 got the 1st string snaps. After the DEN game looked healthy but weeks later no mention of Billy😮
