there's something oddly satisfying about the thought of chewing on a ball of spaghetti. i want to try it now

I made home made dough and made mozzarella stuffed balls and deep fried them. Covered in butter rolled in parmesan. Then I used a meat processor and followed the same plan for the meat strings but instead of baking it I fried it in a pan covering it until it reached temperature. It maintained the strings look and tasted like an Italian meatball.

I think Hailey was trying to imply that for the Spag-balls, the pasta mix would never reach Spaghetti noodle form, and would be left as the prepared mass of raw shapeless pasta, which is an absolutely horrendous idea in general.

The meat piles remind me of Kay's spaghetti and meatballs. Fistfuls of raw noodles bound together with equally raw meat and tossed into the oven until the "balls" transform into meat puddles. I'd love to see babish try to recreate one of her recipes.

On Iron Chef, Morimoto liked to make noodles out of fish by blending the fish up in a food processor with Japanese mountain yams and some other stuff and then piping them into water or broth to poach. Might be worth investigating if this sort of thing ever comes up again.

In the clip Haley mentioned that "spaghetti starts as balls" so I think you should have made dough balls and cooked them like gnocchi, instead of starting with pre-made spaghetti

Well, my version would be: Spagballs: Make pasta dough, cut into spaghetti. Take each noodle of raw dough and roll up one end until it's in a ball. Then boil. These will be quite small, but I think it's suitable. Meastketti: Slim Jims. Then cut them thinner. I suspect they may become rather noodly if you boil them.

I find it hilarious that instead of keeping the meat and spaghetti as strings and balls, he did the exact opposite. Taking the spaghetti that was turned from a ball into strands back into a ball, and taking the meat that was turned from strands into a ball and back into strands.

This is an idea for the ages. What if we put cooked meatballs inside the spaghetti balls and then, cooked them? Might have a better result on the noodles and also have a handheld meal.

Spag-ball sounds like a slur, but I can't fathom what for.

For the meat-ghetti, I'm thinking something like ropa vieja, where you have long strands of meat, but we cut it with the grain instead of against it. As for spag-balls, a spherical gnocchi comes to mind. You get the spirit of a ball-shaped pasta and a strand-like meat, but actually edible.

I live in Wales and I went out to an Italian place a few years ago where they had basically a pasta scotch egg. It was a meatball surrounded by spaghetti that looked like a giant cotton ball. They'd put tomato suace on top and then grill some cheese on it. It tasted great, but it was just spaghetti and meatballs in a different form.

As someone with a long Italian lineage and whose grandpa was born in Italy and who has never watched American dad in my life I am deeply disturbed and yet intrigued

I feel like the best way to actually do this would be to make the "meatghetti" like a thin sausage and to make the "Spagballs" as just doughballs instead of trying to reform spaghetti into a ball.

Meat-ghetti reminds me of a traditional Chinese cursine named "Yanpi Huntun" (literally "Wonton with swift skin"). Of course this cursine has no swift in it, but the main ingredient of the "swift skin" is meat instead of flour. The "swift skin" is usually made of pork. Continuously beat the pork with meat hammer and remove all the silverskin until the pork is finely and smoothly pureed. Then knead the meat puree on a table heavily floured with stracth until it forms a stretchable dough.

My suggestion for the meat-ghetti: braise a whole flank steak in marinara sauce, then pull it apart like you would barbecued pork. Because of the way a flank steak is structured, it should separate into long strands that resemble spaghetti noodles. As for the span-balls, I think you've got the right idea: basically deep fried mac & cheese fritters using Italian cheeses like parmesan, romano, and ricotta. And on another note, my suggestions for a future episode: The Five Mother Sauces from "The Hundred-Food Journey" Venom's attempt at breakfast from "Venom: Let There Be Carnage"

Dietotaku wants to air fry ground beef strands out from the grinder. Jesse Cohoon suggests a pulled pork of beef, for a meat spaghetti. Or brisket as Matin Mahmoudi suggests. But instead, PureDeamon suggests a long thin sausage. But for yet another wo make noodles out of meat, just as with making noodles out of vegetables, typically zucchini (although I've gotten wonderful results with onions), use a spiralizer with any meat, cooked or raw, that demonstrates the requisite firmness to survive the process without falling apart. It may be necessary to substitute a deli slicer for the spiralizer blade, by mounting the spiralizer onto the deli slicer. Or more simply, much as IconicCanine518 suggests, long thin slices of meat from the dell slicer, might then be hand cut into flat noodles. For longer sheets of meat, whatever cut of meat could be loaded into the dells slicer, sideways. A tough cut of beef, raw, might be best for a beef-ghetti, with a sauce inspired by Steak Tartar, but perhaps further thickened. As for spag-balls, spheres of pasta already exist. They are called: dumplings. Indeed possibly gnocchi as Peter Keros suggests. After all: "spaghetti starts out as balls" od dough. Moreover, the surface of any kind of dumpling can even be scored to better resemble a mass of noodles, if actually so desired, indeed to more richly coat from the sauce. Instead of processed flour for the pasta or cornstarch to thicken any sauce, as a more flavorful and health conscious alternative, any whole grain or whole food flour, even a grind of sun dried tomatoes, might be substituted.

Honestly it seems like if we use the meat preparation from the first attempt and the spaghetti preparation from the second you have something pretty decent
