Use a compound to remove oxidation. Then a wax to build up protection. Then a polish to buff to a high shine... Get rid of your angle grinder, and buy a high speed buffer... Apply your polishing wax by hand, then use high speed buffer with lambs wool cover to get the shine..👍👍

The car could probably use a good bath with soap and a clean wash mitt, not just a power washer. It then needs a good clay-bar job to remove all of the stuck-on impurities which is why it has that sand paper feel and sound. After the clay-bar, the wax and polish will actually be able to do their job much better.

All you did was wax over a dirty car brother. Use some rubbing compound, buff that off then claybar. Then move car into a warm shop and give her a wax.

I would clay bar the whole entire car 1st then come behind it after you're done and wax it but when you clay bar have the whole car entirely wet

That Meguiars you used is a polish. Not sure the wax your talking about. hit the whole car with the buffer to remove that sandpaper feel. That grit feel is contaminants in the paint. You might want to try a clay bar to remove, then polish then seal / wax.

Left side looks like you removed about half of the oxidation, that’s why it’s spotty. The buffer would be your best bet for this car, just be careful not to burn through the clear. I obviously haven’t seen the paint in person, but that’s just my take on it.

You need a good cutting compound but since you have never done it before you should let someone else with experience do it or you can very easily and quickly burn through the paint. After compound I like 3m finesse-it polish and then a hand glaze then a coat of wax or sealant.

Try using Meguiar’s ultimate compound then ultimate polish. I used them on a destroyed black gmc paint and it turned out great. A polish only takes off a little bit but the compound corrects it. Just be careful and I have to read what the paint is telling you. P.s. u used wayyyy to much polish u prob over loaded the paint to where it didn’t work as good

U need to clay bar it. Then buff with compound with a wool pad.(whitish tan pad) then use 3m finesse it with a yellow wool pad. Then use a foam pad with foam pad polish/swirl remover then apply 3m hand glaze by hand few panels at a time. Then use mark d elegance wax by collinite to get that beautiful shine

On the first part of the hood you burned up the clear coat. You should have power washed all the stuff off of it and did it by hand first, then use about 3 to 5 times as much compound as you did and a wool pad and do the whole car now that its clean. All you did by doing what you did was grind the stuff into the clear coat and then burn the clear coat over on top of it.

Clay it than get a good synthetic wax put it on by hand 🖐 there you go next time you wax a car get a variable speed polisher from Harbor freight and watch a few videos from either fab automotive detailing or apex detailing both on RU-vid and it will come out so much better and easier with a lot less slinging than with that high speed you were using a lot more user friendly

Several wool bonnets and a cutting compound to start work through the grits and finish with a clay bar and some sealer

Spray on decontamination, clay bar or towel then 2 or three stage buff. My car was so oxidized it was gray now it’s super deep black. I did the decon, clay towel and rupes blue yellow then white compound and pads.

Wet sand with 3000 lightly, buff with wool pad then glaze with foam pad

For more c4 content I'm willing to watch all ads and rewatch again...

Steve I restore and build cars for a living. I have many videos up of the cars I do. This car looks very oxidized, which makes me wonder if it even has clearcoat on it. My question is, when you buffed the hood did the buffing pad stay white or did it start turning the color of the car? If it started looking like the color of the car, the clearcoat is gone or else the car was painted with single stage paint.....which will be difficult to polish without messing up the metallic in the paint.

You can do more harm than good w/a buffer.it's pretty much down to a science.start off by cutting it but there are different pads to use too before you use a topcoat.use a cleaner wax by hand then a finishing glaze at the end but a claybar w/spray polish by hand will be your best bet.

Clear coat is breaking down, maybe sand and repolish? Can't hurt to try if you are wrapping anyway

Get a better cut compound and a wool buffer pad, and a foam buffing pad for polishing

You need to do a clay bar on the whole car first, then use a cutting compound start with 3000 grit compound then wax it. If the 3000 grit compound doesn’t start to shine it try a 2500 grit then go to a 3000!

Are you using just a wax on there if you are try going over it with a buffing compound and then a wax and man that thing was super shine but it looks really good already man you're doing a wonderful job

Re wash it use a clay bar get 3m feness compound and 1200, 1500, 2000 grit paper wash it soap water then clay bar then wet sand 1200 wet the paper as well you may stop there then you need 3 buffing pads the one you used then the waffle style one for swirl removal then a wool one for finish polish

easiest way i have found to remove old tint is to use a steamer.. just steam the tint until the window feel hot.. then you can just peel the tint off with the adhesive.

Make sure that the passenger side of the hood isn't banging on the support post underneath it. I went through 5 heater cores before I figured out that the hood banging on the post was splitting the solder on the cores..

Damn I love the smell of burnt rubber in the morning.

Get Turtle wax rubbing compound. Go over itwith that andnyes its a pain in the A-- getting off. Then get a good wax and wax it. It will shine like a new car. Too bad they don't make Simoniz car wax anymore. Hard to take off after it hazes over(Hand Buffing) but well worth the effort.

You need to cut, polish then wax. Go to Harbor Freight and the the pads. I think they are Blue Black and White.

NO WRAP!! They are just a cheesy temporary fix. A corvette deserves good paint

Wet sand it and then start polishing it and it will look a lot better and may look like some glass

The side you used the power polisher, you used way way too much compound, that's why it looks milky. Here's the way I would do it. Cutting compound with wool bonnet to begin with. Use a dime size dab of compound. Only do a 12 inch by 12 inch area at a time. Not to fast, not too much pressure or you'll burn through the clear. Polish in sweeping motion until the Polish starts to dry and turn white. Wipe or wash off the residue. Finish with the foam pad and a finishing compound (same directions as cutting). You can do it in 2 steps should turn out good. Keep up the good videos.

You should of hit the car with a good wash then hit it with a clay bar.then wax then buff it

I could sit here and write a whole bunch but it still wouldn't be enough. It takes time to learn how to correct paint. What product to use, how thick is the paint, different buffers and action types. Get in touch with Troy Sowers and bring it down to inshane designs or maybe he'll do it from his house. Either way you can both make content doing it together and I'm sure he will give you a sweetheart price. Don't do it yourself, you'll only make it worse or burn thru the clear and paint. Especially at sharp edges.

Maybe it was the pad you used on the buffer. I’ve always used a wool pad instead of sponge. Never had any issues...thoughts anyone?

I don't see a difference in the paint on the hood. You can hear a difference when rubbing. I would take it to your shop and rewax it with heat.

Get the rubber version of a clay bar it's washable and reusable for as rough as the finish is so it will be able to take the wrap

I would say claybar the surface and I'm not 100% on if temperature is a factor for that glaze but It may be if you clay bar that surface should come out smooth as glass not sure of the condition of the paint it looks chipped and cracked in some places

Color sand with 2000 grit wet /dry paper will make paint lay flat ! 15 peaches of paper should do the job ! Just buffing will not fix the problem. Victor from Palmdale California 93591 AKA easy money

Just go and get mothers polish they have a three step product that you can do all by hand it’s what I use
