In his presentation, Professor Shota discussed his research on carbon capture technology and the production of useful chemicals from CO2. He emphasized the importance of reducing carbon emissions from the chemical and fuel industries to combat global warming and achieve sustainability. Professor Shota's team focused on using photosynthetic bacteria called cyanobacteria to fix CO2 and produce biochemicals. They engineered these bacteria to convert CO2 into 2,3-butanediol, a chemical feedstock used in various applications. By optimizing gene expression and metabolic pathways, they achieved significant improvements in the production of 2,3-butanediol. They also developed strategies to utilize sugar as an energy source during the night time, enabling 24/7 production systems. Additionally, Professor Shota discussed the potential of combining biological and electrocatalysis methods to convert CO2 into chemicals, such as isobutanol. This hybrid system showed promise for increasing energy conversion efficiency. Overall, his research aims to find sustainable solutions for reducing carbon emissions and utilizing renewable energy sources in the production of valuable chemicals.

Soil Regeneration has demonstrated many times that it's able to sequester over 25 tons (equivalent) of CO2 per Acre...and it costs nothing when done well. In fact reducing Agricultural Inputs (feetilizers/herbicides/pesticides) saves $Hundreds per acre per year...incrrasing farm profits while greatly improving the soil. Do the 4th grade math, and you'll see that all the CO2 currently in the Atmosphere could be removed and put back into the soil (which the Oceans would totally replenish...since the Oceans contain 10's of thousands times more CO2 than the Atmosphere does). PHOTOSYNTHETIC IMPROVEMENT from agricultural lands with Regenerated Soils is typically raised from a current puny ~15% to ~60% typically...a 400% increase...over half of which gets driven into the Soil in the form of stable Carbon Root Exudates. Not just a few %.
