While it is true that blood cells can't get "lost", we must always keep in mind that this is anthropomorphism of microorganisms in the human body. That means the cells here will act like humans in a city or a small country and everything will be represented this way. So that means blood cells will walk instead of being pushed by blood pressure, veins and arteries will be like streets, and so on. Other than that the show will try to stay as accurate as possible by anime standards .

I feel they add that detail to our RBC protagonist because it's entertaining since in real life they really shouldn't get lost.

the main Red blood cell character in the anime is suppose to be a sickle cell, sickle cells are deformed red blood cells that usually get lost in the body, hence why she's always getting lost

I already finished this anime but I highly recommend it and pretty soon there will be another, I believe more serious version, called Cells at Work! : Code Black. Covering more serious conditions.

@@parychahal at the beginning of the episode When she did give the cell the oxygen she has a light red jacket with dark parts The rest of the episode when she is traveling with Carbon dioxide, she has a dark red jacket with light red parts

That was fun, but just one small correction. The main character, the disorientated red blood cell, is representing malformed red blood cell. The lock of hair sticking out is even in the shape of such blood cell. I don't remember the correct name for it, and yes is over exaggerated in the anime.

yeah the condition is "sickle cell anaemia" of course it is exaggerated, we are anthropomorphising cells but it mostly depicts the symptoms of a sickle blood cell

Actually, that has never been a confirmed part of the story. Just fan theory. In the first place, there would be more sickle blood cells if that was so.

@@furzle1552 Hm, I need admitting that my comment is based on a review of the story. This position made a lot of sense and I was left with the impression that is confirmed part of the story. But I might be wrong. Although, my comment is based on that GL didn't thought at the moment for a reason for this behaviour. And the hope was to give, admittedly not well educated proposition. Now I'm left with the feeling that my poor english, messed up my intention.

That red blood cell is a sickle cell.Sickle cells are red blood cell that get lost in real life and in the anime.

Red blood cell protagonist is actually a sickle cell, sickle cell disease when red blood cell shape is like crescent. that's why the RBC protagonist always lost, has kind of crest like cowlick on her hair, and have Red hair which different than other RBC.
