Hello
in this video, I make bioplastic out of potato starch.
-Extraction of the starch from potatoes: • Extracting the starch ...
Here the starch act as a polymer and by adding the reagents he suffers some transformation on his bondings making the chains more linear and plastic.

I tried to make beer before with starch before I knew how to convert it to surgar properly.And it came out to be like the polymer. Hard and thick. I just did it again just a few days ago and it wasn’t the case this time. Now I’ll expecting to have potato beers soon

Starch, a large-molecule carbohydrate used in making beer. To make any alcoholic beverage, there must be sugar present for yeast to ferment.

hello, As of my knowledge this starch based plastic are hygroscopic ( adsorb water ) is it the case with your samples?
@izaza4816
@izaza4816 3 года назад
hello, yes it is, but we did not test, to have the exact rate of how much water it absorbed , we tried to see if it was soluble in water but it did not dissolve so easily with hot water and mixing, we did not make a anti-aderent coat but thats possible

@izaza4816
@izaza4816 3 года назад
Hello, i used the glycerin from the lab the one you buy as a quemical product, but you can substitute for the glycerin we buy at the pharmacy so i guess the one you use for the soap.

Hello, i think is nice to understand the basics firts, like what are plastics why are they called like that, what are polymers, how are they made, its primarily charactheriscs thermoplastics, thermosets etc, its structures, processes of polymerization, and then processes into making other materials

you might try to make a composit material with an iron and some baking paper. watch out though glasdpoint of pla may be beyond the ignition point of potatoestarch.

Hola!! Podrías explicarme bien a qué temperatura realizaste el proceso y cuáles fueron las cantidades?
@izaza4816
@izaza4816 3 года назад
Hola!
@izaza4816
@izaza4816 3 года назад

@izaza4816
@izaza4816 2 года назад
Hi, i don't think this plastic can be used in your 3d printer or any other polymeric processing like injection or extruder, is different than comercial "biodegradable" plastics. But you can read this article about bioplastics used on 3d printers, but most of them are degradeble and not biodegradable: www.sculpteo.com/en/3d-learning-hub/3d-printing-materials-guide/3d-printing-bioplastics/ Hope it helps :)

Hello, we never made any tests to really see its elasticity but once you apply a tension it straches and tears. We are still testing it's properties. But this was just a demonstration for a english work. But once it dries i would't concider that elastic but has plastic porperties, is not vitrious.
