It's not youtubers that have painted EA to be Disney villains, the powers that be in the company have done that all by themselves. I do feel for the men and women that are working hard on these games, but they can point the blame solely on those above them.

What concerns me with EA in particular is that they’ll roll over and do “cosmetic only” boxes but when the game gets successful they’ll add a pay to win style system that the game was grooming you for the whole time.

I want Anthem to do well for BioWare. However I'm not going to support EA's "games as a service". I refuse to play s slot machine with guns in it. I still have a sour taste after Mass Effect Andromeda and Starwars bf2.

Guys, I just want to say that I absolutely hate [love] when the intro begins to play, you both start talking and I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the beat to drop. And, when it finally does with the Layman Gaming logo I get so frickin hyped. I love your videos, love the coverage, love the commentary. Please keep it coming. Finally, from a business perspective I “let” EA get away with a lot but they have just been running rampant as of late. I think I have been one of the few that was hoping Anthem would be the big new IP. But alas, it does not seem so. I used to think Ubisoft were the bad guys, but EA are making them look like saints. At least Ubi attempts to stand by their products working to productive changes in an effort to keep their player base. 2018: the year of EAs downfall? P.S. make that damn shirt. I’d buy it.

Brilliant intro. And nice 4th wall breaking lol. I certainly don't scour reddit for drama, and this is a great place to get gaming updates especially because you guys are just fun to watch.

1: that intro hurt more than it should have. 2: Hearing that about Dragon Age made my heart sank. I just finished Made in Abyss I didn't need even more depression. Best case there is, is that the "live" feature is nothing but an improved version of Inquisition's multiplayer. Worse would be if they found someway to pay wall content outside of DLCs. I will gleefully throw my money at Bioware for expansions, but that's different than withholding story bits till you buy a loot box that gives you Magic Wand A needed to get Dialogue Option B just so you can have Ending C. Speaking of expansions, while the Liara DLC of Mass Effect 2 was totally worth the money, "paywalling" Liara of all characters leaves a bad taste in my mouth. So lets avoid that. Another "Shale" wouldn't be bad but if they paywall Morrigan we riot. 3: Since loosing mircotransations in Starwars doesn't hurt their bottom line, in a game where A), they can't make paid DLC for because of promises, and B) have to maintain servers for, I don't see why they need to take the microtransaction route vs the DLC one. Double points since Bungie put so much focus on Eververse in D2 because they didn't want to make substantial DLC content and such. When you add that to the equation is seems you just need to take either or. I totally get the microtransation make a STUPID amount of money, but wouldn't it make more sense to play it safe. I wasn't planning on buying Anthem before all this went down and I really don't feel like it now. How many others besides me have that same idea. "This doesn't look like a bioware game, but they have never done me wrong bef---- oh right EA. Welp forget this game then". 4: Bioware Dev: "Hey he may be an evil overlord but he signs my pay check, so he's not evil to me"

YongYea would be the first to report on good news about Anthem, he just recently did. This "inflammatory" remark just tries to shut down criticism as uninformed, when in actuality, it's very informed and simply has nothing good to report on. Also: Plenty of people from the "ground level" have contacted Jim Sterling and YongYea over the years and prompted such stories themselves.

LOL I'm one of those that came across your channel dueing the SWBF2 debacle, liked what I saw, and subbed. Rock on, guys.

Bioware is loooong dead. Mass Effect 3 and the way EA forced MP into it, the dev troubles (and the rumors that they pushed for that ending, because it's less costly) was the last straw for Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka. After that EA basically hasn't produced a good or even a decent game. Inquisition was one of the worst RPGs I played in a long time (bad writing, very few interesting characters, 0 meaningful interactions, clicker-level gameplay, story that does nothing for 98% of the runtime, boring quests), they botched their 4-player coop game (don't remember the title, but it was like Left4Dead, but with magic powers in the modern world), Andromeda was... Andromeda... And now anthem is a grind-based micro-transaction-driven Destiny clone from the studio that made it's name on story-based character-driven games. And let's face it- Bioware always got away with mediocre-to-bad games on the count of great or phenomenal writing and world building (ME1 wasn't a good game, especially on the technical level, but the way it built a fantastic universe with good characters is what carried it). And now ALL the people that would stand up to EA are long gone, the majority of the talented writing staff is gone. So what's left? Bioware isn't alive. For several years already it's just been a corpse being electricuted from time to time to give off some semblance of life. Just let it rest already... Bioware traditions live on in Obsidian IMO.
