Konami is such a huge scum-bag of a company. They try and cash grab on the Metal Gear name with a zombie game lol.

MGS4: Guns of The Patriots is still to this day the greatest video game I've ever played. Since then, they dragged my two fav franchises (MGS & Silent Hill) into the ground..so since no one else is saying it...FUCK KONAMI

I respect the integrety of your choice to NOT touch this game at all. I'm not a Metal Gear fan at all. I don't hate it, I just never played one before, but I recognice the impact that the series and Kojima himself had on the industry so I can totally respect this stand that you have. Not giving them any Money from your pockets at all, no matter what is something I admire and hope the majority of fans follow. Konami earned itself lots of criticism and hate from very engaged and dedicated fans and other people that hate to hear how one of the greatest game creators ever got mistreated and disrespected and obviously hate how Konami might be ruining their beloved franchise. This game is a sign though. An opportunity to kick Konami right in the balls by making their spin off flop. Show the people in the suits that it is important to respect the art and the artists alike... I do feel sorry for the actual developers of this game though as they for certain try their best to impress the audience with a decent job and if the game flops, they will feel the hit too. Konami's first business mistake was allowing Kojima personally to eclipse their own branding in the first place. I can't think of any individual who "owned" the IP of his employer in the public consciousness the way Kojima does. There are good business reasons why there is only one Kojima. Wait, wait, wait... Del Toro and Kojima are working on a game together? WHEN CAN I BUY THIS!!!?

What Konami needs to do. 1. Go forward with MSX Metal Gear 1&2 remakes while updating the gameplay and story to reflect retcons made in later games. 2. Hire Sutherland to voice Venom Snake and Hayter to voice Big Boss/Solid Snake in those remakes. 3. Make MSX remakes a dedication to Hideo Kojima and all the work he put in into Metal Gear franchise. 4. Release MGS3 remake with Fox Engine. 5. And ONLY after all this is done they can try and milk MG franchise with spin-off and sequels. This will never happen, sadly.

Metal Gear will always have a fond place in gaming for me. After the initial excitement of finding out my grandparents bought us a NES we went to the flea market where I was allowed to get 1 game. I would enjoy Metal Gear and the Mario/Duck Hunt combo for several months before we were allowed to buy another game.

I lost alot of respect for kojima after what happened with David hayter. I'm still salty as fuck.

As a non kojima fan who only played mgs5, the beta was actually really fun. Shame there's so much drama behind it all. I do plan on getting it eventually especially if enough of my friends get it. Monster Hunter and dragon Ball are gonna keep me busy enough if they don't.

I'm sorry to say this, I'm a big fan of yours but you are a bit amiss with this whole thing. I really don't mean to defend Konami, but you give Kojima way too much credit. There's no doubts he's a capable game designer and to some extent a decent producer, but he's no genius. You attribute way too much of what was done in his game to him. These games are done by massive teams and attributing it to the genius of one man is a sign of a terrible misunderstanding of how games are made and the amount of work they represent.

Dang I have heard a lot of horror stories about Japanese corporate before but this is just insane. So many good games and tv shows have met their deaths at the hands of these authoritarian corporate entities that have absolute control over every single aspect of development. I remember reading an article from the creators of Dragon Ball Z and how they would write out a story line and their team would create a few episodes and then the boss would call and say he didn't like it and demand broad sweeping changes to the story line mid season and they had no choice but to make something up or get fired.

The vision of the developers like Kojima and the stories they create is what we love. No one really offhand could say who produced the Harry Potter films, what production team, or publishing house printed the books, but the author we all know immediately. By the little footage I saw of the game, it reminds me of a Division looter, with zombies. I saw of what it looked like, a weapon that had a green background. Maybe a rarity. But a game like that would be really cool. Sounds like Fortnite. But without the building.

Metal Gear Poker Machine - sounds good, actually

I personally think of a few other things before I think of metal gear. The Aformentioned Castlevania, Gradius, Silent Hill, Yugioh, Ganbare Goemon, Contra, Suikoden, Rocket Knight, and fucking kick-ass late 80's/early 90's licensed games like the TMNT beat 'em ups, Xmen the Arcade Game, etc. Honestly, I kinda think of Kojima's works outside of Antarctic Adventure as kinda their own seperate entity because of how different they are from the rest of their projects. Konami games used to have a sense of humor and not take themselves TOO seriously, but Kojima's games kinda take that out-of place levity to the next level. I consider Snatcher, Policenauts, Zone of the Enders, and of course the Metal Gear stuff toalmost be a seperate entity in the same way that Hudson Soft is their own thing but lives under the konami umbrella.

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance was actually Kojimas idea Konami was just not able to realize it in time so they started working together with Platinum. Kojima than let others care about story and gameplay details because he focused on other things. Metal Gear Survive is a completely different story, its more like Gearbox and Alien, the title and certain models in the game remember you of something you know but the rest is shockingly different.

I agree, however it should be noted that A LOT of people made metal gear, not just one man. And I'm sure most of those people still work for konami. I feel for those developers.

Metal gear solid 5 was a phenomenal damn game. Snake Eater was my first MG game and after that I went back and played them all and since then.
