It looks too dry. I don't know if that was the 8 hours of trying to hatch or the problem in the first place. Too late for spray mist? Hope he perks up.
Yeah it was very strange the way the egg was. I think it might have dried being open overnight. We have only had two babies like this in the years of raising them.
This was. Minnie and Papa’s baby, a pair who I rescued in 2018. They had several clutches of babies in 2018 and 19 and then then two babies in 2021 like this, a single one that could not hatch on it’s own. I had no idea the parents age but now suspect their were older. Which is possibly why the chicks did not survive. Minnie passed a few months ago but I still have Papa and he has bonded with another mate. The dutch blue baby Puffin is a grand baby of Minnie and Papa.
