Awesome! I wish I had enough space to provide my birbs with a designated bird room as you do. Your setup is such an inspiration. The best I can do is I have birdstands and little bird playgrounds in the living room and my office where my birds can free roam under supervision, but a seperate room where they can't get into mischieve would be a dream come true.
What we did was take our small living room, which is an isolated room with a door, and made it birdproof. We have our TV set up and a sofa but the rest is all bird stuff. Their cage, stands, the walls and ceiling, all is covered in bird toys and perches. We covered the sofa with blankets that we wash weekly. This way, they are free roaming safely but we get to use the room for more than just birds
I'm trying to make more enrichment for my little two months old parrotlet and your setups always inspire me to do something more. He's an impatient and attention seeking birdie and I wanted to teach him play by himself more so he won't be bored when I'm busy.
I always feel so inspired after watching your bird room tours! I have been wanting a bird room since 2016, and I am so close to having one! We have a sun room that I hope to convert to a bird room soon. I am always taking notes when I watch your videos! Thank you so much foe the updated tour!
Absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing how you give your beautiful parrots a fully enriched life while still being so safe. You have a really wonderful setup.
Regarding fastening a natural wood platform to the wall as you wished to: Make corresponding drill holes in wall and end of platform. Connect with dowls cut to length, and add a dab of glue into each hole for security. No need to get fancy - dowls from the crafts section of pretty much any dollar store and simple Elmer's glue will suffice. It's not like it'll be supporting your prize bowling ball, or anything.
I love your bird room tours, they're great! Your channel teaches me so much for my next bird that I am getting soon! This is the best, and I mean the BEST channel I have found to help me on my way with birds. I have actually been watching for a while and I'd like to say, keep up the amazing work! Although it doesn't have much information about big birds like the bird I want (umbrella cockatoo) it still teaches me so much!Wishing you, Mea and Newt a great year! I love you and your channel, so thank you so so much Flock talk!
I have a room for my 8 parrots. I had a climbing net that covered the ceiling but I had to take it down because at hormone time, not one of them would come down. And that isn’t safe. I have 3 GCCs, 2 moustache parakeets, a Quaker, a brown head and an Amazon. All rescues or rehomes. I feed Roudybush.
Dear Courtney, I wondered whether you'd consider doing a video about how you treat the bird space with things to deter rodents and how you employ approprite disinfectants and mite/parasite treatments. I guess you only have 2 birds currently, so their mess and food droppings are easily kept clean.
We just keep things clean, the room gets swept daily, if they had mites we’d take them to a vet. We haven’t needed to do anything beyond standard cleaning
@@FlockTalk Thanks very much for responding. That's really reassuring, your channel has been so helpful. Hope you have a lovely Christmas - and happy 2023.
My parents are moving my brother into a different room, leaving the extra room free, so I'm hoping to convince them to turn it into a bird room instead of them moving the excersize equipment into it... I don't think it'll work but if I do, your bird room will be the biggest inspo for it!! :)
You could wrap the rope with vet wrap too for more texture variation! Just gotta replace it every so often tho, cus it can get kinda gummy after a while. I love the set up! This is basically a dream for when I have my own house and can drill bird perches into the walls. Have you noticed any significant differences with your birds health/behavior with and without the uv bulb? From what I’ve heard, they don’t have any real benefit for their feathers or anything. I’ve always thought of them more as a skin cancer risk than something beneficial. I would love to hear your opinions on the matter! Mia’s adorable! I’m glad she seems to be getting along well, despite her age. ❤
My experience with them has been extremely beneficial! When I first started using them (I only had Mia and zeeb at the time) I saw rapid changes in feather quality, way more excitement for veggies, and an increase in overall activity. They absolutely do still get benefits through the UV in this bulb, and it absolutely aids in the body’s ability to absorb calcium!
Hi. I am looking to hire a bird trainer. Ideally in the Greater Toronto Area. But remote can also work. Do you have any recommendations, please? Thanks
We selected flooring that would be easy to clean, I use a razor scraper to remove the bulk then wipe down the remainder with a damp cloth. Comes off quickly and easily
