Hi Kullike and Dennis. Awesome weather hope it lasts. Praying to Mother Nature we get a good summer. I usually go up to northern Ontario for the whole summer to a little house my dad left. It's outside of Kirkland Lake, 7 hour drive. It's almost like you folks moving up to Northern Saskatchewan from the city in the south. In Northern Ontario it stays lighter longer in summers. Maybe till 10 p.m. end of June, and July. How long does your daylight last? It could be cool in the City and warmer weather up north. Maybe it's the same for you. We don't see Magpies in our area. 3 huge regular crows come to the feeder. They love peanuts esp in the shell. I watch them fill their beaks with unshelled peanuts, sometimes 4 peanuts Crows are so smart. They fly to the tree nearby, and watch me putting the peanuts out. Soon as I'm inside, they fly down to the feeder and take their time collecting unsalted shelled peanuts and peanuts in the shell. They are so fascinating to watch like your little guys who like being outdoors. I love watching them flapping around in the water bowls.. The first time I ever saw Magpies was in Canmore, Alberta, camping there. I left a bowl of my doggy food outside the trailer for him and he left what he didn't eat. We went somewhere and always took him with us. When we came back the bowl of dry dog food kibble was gone! I asked owner of campsite about it. He said Magpies ate it same as they eat his dog's food. First time I ever knew about it. So I left a bowl of dry dog food out and watched from inside the trailer. Sure enough, Magpies were coming back and forth carrying off the dog food kibble bits until the bowl was empty.😅 They are amazing to watch. I can see why you and Kullike keep your guys close to your heart. They are beautiful with their own personality. Almost human in a way.❤❤❤
Hi Kristina. It sounds like you would experience the same kind of atmosphere as we do in northern Sask. Sun sets about 9:30 and stays fairly light till after 10 and even at midnight it is not totally dark as we are a little farther north. Sometimes it can be warmer here than in the south but not often. We are a few degrees cooler than the south. This year is weird as the winter was not that bad but spring has been rainy and cool. There has even been light frost the past couple weeks off and on. That is not normal even for here in June. Farmers are starting to complain that the crops are not maturing properly because of the non stop rain and cool weather. Some parts of Sask have been very dry over the past few years and welcome the rain but it is getting to saturated here and many farm fields are under water in some places. Yeah, magpies are very interesting to watch and love getting at the dog food that was left out. We do not feed kassie outside as it attracts the wild animals but sometimes there is the odd treat around. Do you have any pictures you could share of the lake and your cozy northern house? I got excited when you described going up to the lake for the summer. If you have any pictures, please send them to chv72@hotmail.com You don't have to but would like to see some. Dennis

Enjoy the nice weather. 👍We just had 4 glorious days with a max temp of 30C or 91F. I even had to protect my new seedlings in my pots against the sun with shade cloth, but now we are going back to colder temperatures. Next week we will even go to 17C or 63Fand night temps are going to drop to as low as 11C or 51F.
They are so scared of toys that we put in. We have tried but why stress them out. They enjoy being in the aviary and exploring in there. They act totally different when I'm not in there and have all kinds of fun. Its not that they really mind me being in there but act different.
