That seems like a pretty fun freeway to drive. It's curvy and a bit hilly, in parts. The stack interchange at I-459 is really nice; glad you filmed it at ground level, too.
Nice video. They used those reflective posts in the Netherlands as well, but I think they were banned from freeways for workers' safety. They now use metal barriers.
Thanks Bryant. Ah, let us not forget the slowpoke in the middle lane at 2:10, I swear he was doing about 40-45 MPH. I agree with on the stretch from Monty to Mobile, From Birmingham to Monty is nothing special either until around Mile 182 where it widens to 6 lanes. but before that, 60 miles of nothing but trees from where this video ends.
@WorshipHammer yes, it is; but I-65 is the main north-south freeway thru the city, so I would take 20/59, then take red mountain expressway. South of the city, US 31 and 280 split, but 280 is often congested, due to Auburn being that direction. If u don't wanna do that, take I-65 to Montgomery, then I-85 towards Atlanta, and get 280 that way
@Freewayjim That's one reason why I like to watch videos from America, you don't get centre lane hoggers in Europe, nor passing on the outside. They only exception to this that I know is the M25 in the UK, where they pass you from all sides and all over the place.
Thanks for the videos of Birmingham. It's a unique city. Also, sorry about the drivers. People in Birmingham seem to be very angry and incoherent when they drive. Driving between Gadsden and Mobile, I usually take secondary roads around Birmingham to avoid that construction mess. Everyone and their grandmother wants to live in Alabaster, apparently!
