So I'm tired of getting narrow minded comments and questions online questioning my sexuality. I decided to make a video and attempt to put this issue to bed once and for all. Hopefully I can put things in plain enough terms that even the most simple people out there can understand...

I most identify with Bisexual, but I've made a new label for myself. It's called "I don't give a fuck." It's the abbreviated form of "As long as you're a wonderful person, and we're compatible together, I don't give a fuck what you have in your pants."
@thebigchickenn
@thebigchickenn 9 лет назад
I coincidentally made up a gender for myself that's also called "I don't give a fuck." I'm not transgender or even (very) androgynous. I made it up because gender is pretty much bullshit. I don't mean you can't be feminine or masculine, or even that you can't act different than what's normal for your sex. I mean that gender is basically just a stereotype, and you should be able to do whatever the hell you want without getting your own fucking pronouns.

Hello there friend, have you looked into things like pansexual, and panromantic? Because those sound a lot like what your talking about. But if you don't want those to be your identity that's cool too. Just thought I would let you know. Sometimes people really like labels, others don't.

I had a talk with Davey a while back about this because a lot of gay people DO use bisexual as a stepping stone for coming out and it really does hurt true bisexuals.
@TheNotAdam
@TheNotAdam 10 лет назад
Why they insist on doing so is beyond me, because being gay is actually more "convenient" at times.
@DearestClaudio

TheNotAdam Because it's an easy way to test the waters when you're not sure how people will react. It's a safety thing. You're not pulling the rug out from under everyone's feet right away and knocking them over, you're just kinda nudging them off to the side so you can pick it up later when people are used to the idea of no longer standing on it. This, of course, doesn't excuse that it's a shitty thing to do in the grand scheme of things.
@indigo_broseph
@indigo_broseph 10 лет назад
TheNotAdam Honestly, I did come out as bisexual to the first person I told; however, it wasn't out of any sense of "convenience" or intended to be used as a stepping stone. The truth of the matter was that I was sexually (self-)repressed for years, and in addition to that, was also an artist who was used to drawing and painting nudes of both "binary" sexes, and therein seeing the beauty of "both gender binaries." The thought of "anyone else in between" never even crossed my mind because I was that naïve. Needless to say I was very ignorant to a lot of discourse surrounding sex, gender, sexual orientation and sexual conduct: and of course, to my own sexual desires. After I came out for the first time (and told said person that I was, admittedly, confused), I was led to different resources that made me realize that I was, in fact, gay. This whole process took less than a day, and the only person to know about this "stepping stone," was this one person. I reiterate: this took less than a day: though I will say that this isn't to say it will for every person out there. As a result, grouping my case with other cases of coming out as bisexual instead of gay, granted, might be misleading. Nevertheless, that was my case, and it was a tad more difficult to navigate the waters of self-discovery at the time (I'll get to that in a second). To this day, I'm probably not 100% gay, but that is how I identify. With today's resources though, this is something I would have been able to do much more easily...so really, if someone were to be in my shoes, they would have less difficulty figuring this out, or so I would hope. So hopefully we can see less of this confusion and trivialization of bisexuality and pansexuality in the future. In this case, knowledge is indeed power, and has the power to dispel any (or at least most) misconceptions surrounding this discourse. Side note: I have a feeling I had an ADD moment and forgot where I was going with this mid-post lol. Hopefully I reined it all it and made some sense out of it...

TheNotAdam RJ, I completely agree with you! I've been grappling with my sexuality since I can remember and am still having some difficulties. Problem I have is that I just used "gay" for when I came out to make it easier for people to understand and now in hind sight, I probably just should have said I like guys (which means i could be gay, bi or whatever) It's just more generic of an explanation and probably would have saved me a lot of stress over the years...uuhhh life!

It really is harder to come out. The gays in your life tend towards thinking that it's a stepping stone. The straights in your life now think you want to get it on with them (nope!) and others just go "what's that?" So much harder.
@QbnHunk

Zeke Krahlin Bisexuals ARE far more persecuted than gays, because we are persecuted just like the gays outside the lgbt community and by the gays too. Case in point, YOU and all your hateful comments in this video's thread. But at the end of the day, its not about who has it harder in life. Just about acknowledging that it is hard and that needs to change, period. And btw, hate only breeds hate. Your heterophobia is just as bad as homophobia. Even worst, its hypocritical. We, the queer community have been victims of marginalization and persecution simply because we are different, but that is no excuse for you to attack those that are different than you.

Please can you explain to me what pansexual means ?
@lindsayosterhoff2459
@lindsayosterhoff2459 10 лет назад
Pansexual is defined as someone can be attracted to anyone on the gender spectrum. Whereas someone who identifies as bisexual can be attracted to two biological sexes (usually male and female), I, as a pansexual individual, could be attracted to someone who is male or someone who is female, but also someone who identifies as agender, bigender, transgender, etc. Basically, just more options. Bi means two, whereas pan means all. Hope that helps!
@AdrienneWilliams
@AdrienneWilliams 10 лет назад
Lindsay Osterhoff bi's say this too. I'm Bi and I like everyone. Its not a true statement about Bi people only liking biological male/female.
@lindsayosterhoff2459
@lindsayosterhoff2459 10 лет назад
I have heard many who identify as bisexual say that. All I can say is that I tend to go by the most popular definitions but if you are bi and like everyone, I am not one to say you are wrong. I think the most important thing is being who you are and using the term you feel comfortable with. I hope that my definition did not cause any offense. I just gave what seems to be the most general, widely accepted definition.
@lindsayosterhoff2459
@lindsayosterhoff2459 10 лет назад
There are more than just two genders. Even if we only look at chromosomes and body formations. Gender and biological sex are much more complicated than the binary we are taught in basic biology classes.

Thank you so much RJ >.< This is exactly what I needed to hear. I'm bisexual, and so is my boyfriend, and we both get the label "gay" stamped on us by other people ,especially the gay community, and it gets on my fucking nerves. I honestly gave up on having to fucking explain my orientation to people and just started to call myself gay because it is so annoying to deal with that shit all the time. But I don't feel comfortable calling myself gay, its just not who I am. My boyfriend doesn't want to call himself bi anymore due to the biphobia and refuses to call himself gay cause that's not what he is, which is completely understandable. Anywayz, your video made me realize it's nobody's fucking business and it's so insulting to me that some ignorant dumbass fuckers comes to me and my boyfriend and try to tell us who we are. They don't know us. How dare they shame us for our sexuality and minimize our experiences...and to pretend to know who we are or what we stand for or what our turn ons and turn offs are!!! I'm bisexual, and I'm not gonna let people get away with that shit anymore. You made me proud to be a bisexual man again RJ ^.^ I was starting to feel ashamed but this video helped so much! I use to get mad when a guy would say there bisexual but I've learned to be more open minded about it. Sexuality is less black and white as I previously thought. I never been with a girl and I know many guys who have and enjoyed it. So for me that's something that I can't relate to. But again it's all this labeling stuff that really doesn't mean much. Were all human beings looking for love in this crazy world. lol

Personally, i use "bi" as an all-encompassing term for pan, poly, demi, etc... 'cause the dictionary definition is: "attracted to at least two but not restricted to two genders", and people have enough trouble coping with "bi" so i ain't gonna drop pan or poly on them when i'm not even sure myself of which one i identify as. So "bi" it is. Plus i get more puns. I see no downside to using the broader term.

+Micah Manabat That's true, demi- does mean attracted to someone (beyond gender) based off of a pre-established (usually positive) relationship; I didn't say they were the same thing, and if that's how it came out, I apologize, but my point was that it falls under the bi+ umbrella, but also that each term under this umbrella has its own properties, which is why we need separate terms, and that I, personally, prefer to use the broader, umbrella term, out of simplicity and practicality, also for the reason that I haven't completely made up my mind yet on the matter. (I also failed to mention omni- and many more, and for that I apologize. I will strive for more precision in my future statements) :D

I had the pleasure of attending the "sexual orientation" panel at VidCon last week. I am a bisexual man in his 50s. To see and hear you and the other four panelists speaking in such a positive, caring way about the rainbow of sexuaity made me almost cry. I'm a member of several gay groups and constantly have to re-explain that identifying as bisexual isn't a dodge or a white lie, it's me. I feel like it's a special talent, like speaking Parseltongue for Harry Potter. Thank you, thank you for being a bright voice for the "silent majority" of LGBT people.

Thank you for not being a person who dismisses labels. Yes, it is hard to label things, especially sexuality. However, language is a big part of society, and in order for language to do its job and in order for us to communicate our feelings, desires, etc., we have to use words and labels to describe ourselves. It's just a necessary evil.

Thank you so much for this video! For the past few years, I've had to constantly try to explain the fluidity of human sexuality to people who live in this black-and-white, strictly-set mentality. I'm a woman who identifies as straight (because despite the hotness of other women, I've never wanted to bone one... but I haven't ruled out that I never will want to), and I've been in a relationship with a man who identifies as gay for over 3 1/2 years. Obviously, he is the one whose sexuality is constantly questioned. And questioning is fine; what we both hate is when people insist on defining his sexuality for him. He's gay; his inclinations are toward men. Anybody who knows him has absolutely no doubt about that. He's been in relationships with men and most of his sexual partners have been men. More telling, a quick check of his Internet browser history will reveal all kinds of unmentionable sites that revolve around the male anatomy. And yet, he's with me: a woman. How does that work? Because human sexuality is far too complex to bog it all down to such strict orientations... but that's what people want. It's what they feel comfortable with, because it wraps everything in a neat little bow. And anything that deviates from that system is sneered at... and this is perpetrated by straight people, gay people, and bisexual people. We *hate* it when people keep trying to dictate his sexuality to him. "If you're with a woman, then you *have* to be bisexual." Yeah sure... because *one* partner completely determines a person's identified sexuality. It's also incredibly arrogant for people to think that they are in a position to tell *you* what kind of a person you are. It's like you said: nobody knows what's going on in your head except for you.

It would be nice if, at some point, someone saying this FINALLY got it through people's heads. Biphobia is frustrating. And as you said, despite being in a monogamous relationship with a man, I still label myself as bi/pansexual (yeah, both, whatever's easier) because that's what I am. Being married to a man doesn't make me heterosexual. I'm not suddenly done staring at Kaley Cuoco's chest the whole time she's on screen on BBT. I don't miraculously not think women are nicer to look at than men in general or more desirable in bed. I mean, if I can have Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley at the same time in my magic happy place, I'm all for it, but if you make me pick, I'll take Keira, thanks. Or, since I don't actually know the celebrities' personalities, Eric Northman and Willow Rosenberg. I might whimper, but I'd pick Willow. Hypothetically, of course. Pre-marriage ;)

Sorry if this turns into a rant but I thought it was worth mentioning. For those people that say "oh what about Will, wouldn't he be insecure about R.J being Bisexual?!" That is complete bullshit. First of all Will and R.J are engaged so if he had an issue with R.J's sexuality then they wouldn't have lasted this long! I also think Will is a very self-confident person, I mean for anyone who was bullied so severely like Will you have to build your own self-confidence and not be insecure or else you will be crushed. Besides that if R.J ever cheated on Will with a girl, that wouldn't be at fault because of R.J's Bisexuality, it would be at fault on his character. Hopefully this makes sense, it did in my head, and I hope people will just stop bothering Will and R.J so much, with such superficial questions. Just enjoy them for the entertaining RU-vidrs that they are. I know that for me, Will and R.J taught/showed me that it is ok and normal to be LGBTQ+ and that I shouldn't be ashamed of who I am! So please let them be the awesome guys that they are and resume putting out videos that I know they would rather be doing! ~end rant~

love this comment! so true! I also have to point out that these ignorant people say they're afraid he'll cheat on him with a WOMAN. I mean, what does the gender of the other person have to do with it? Cheating is cheating no matter who you do it with and no sexuality is void of cheaters, even asexual. I highly doubt cheating would ever be an issue with them because its obvious they are in love and they are better people than that. :)

You mention the problems people have when they find out about you. I honestly couldn't really care less with regards to me, but I'm also stupid in many ways. I've made a number of really bad mistakes that I am ashamed of in terms of reactions to friends I highly respect, and I'm gay., and I will be forever ashamed of how I acted to this person when presented with what they felt comfortable to share with me. They did it out of love and respect, and I trampled all over that. :( Being arrogant and stupid is not the providence of the Straight and Cisgender only. The main thing I want to say publicly is: I'm really sorry Zach. I should have been far more supportive than I was the last time we spoke. I doub't you'll see this, but i hope one day you will. aside from it getting weirdly hot hearing you list off the celebrities, I really loved this video. I'm a gay man and as such I hang out with a lot of gay people. And the whole "bisexuality isn't real" schtick is something I would be disappointed but not surprised by coming from a straight person. When a gay person says it I want to punch them in the jaw because we already get so much crap from people telling us we're sick, we can't do this, we can't do that etc so it seems mad to me that any gay person anywhere, having definitely encountered those experiences at some point, would be a dick to someone who is also outside of the heteronormative majority. I hate that bisexual men are thought of as gay but too scared to say and that bisexual women are just horny straight girls wanting attention. But worse than that are the people, gay and straight, who do accept how bisexuality works and then say they couldn't be in a relationship with a bi person because they don't know what they'd be feeling that week. Which goes back to your sexual conduct thing you said, they can't grasp that. If I were committed to a bisexual man I wouldn't be worried that while I'm plowing him he's thinking of going down on Rihanna, I'd prefer to focus on the speed of my thrusting.

Zeke Krahlin Your reading comprehension is amazing. So selective. Also, using a derogatory for a straight person? Way to be heterophobic, and a hypocrite.
@NaruSanavai
@NaruSanavai 9 лет назад
Thank you for resorting to petty name-calling, thus showing your lack of intelligence. If heterophobia "doesn't exist", then why, in every one of your responses on this video, do you target straight people, directly or indirectly, with vitriolic statements about how they're "bad", or, you refer to them with a derogatory ("breeders")? Seems to me that you're the very thing you described: fighting bigotry, with bigotry. Way to go nowhere, fast. I'm not heterophobic, I'm not homophobic. I'm not anything-phobic. But, I do despise idiots that resort to vitriol and name-calling to try and prove their point. Back to the original post: you called a gay man homophobic. That's fuckin' rich.
@MrTwentington
@MrTwentington 9 лет назад
I don't really know what's happened to the replies here but I'm pretty sure it's not what I was aiming for with my comment. But to Zeke Krahlin I'm a very proud happy gay man who has done work for a number of LGBT charities and efforts to spread awareness. I am not in the least bit homophobic. I am however, deeply disappointed by gay people who spout bi erasure because we've all experienced crap for not being straight so it's maddening to see fellow gay people throw that onto bi people. I wouldn't actually hit anyone in the jaw so chill with caps lock there, it's exaggeration and we all do it But to Naru 'Ecksanavai Zeke's actually right, being heterophobic is not a thing. You can be rude to straight people but you can't be heterophobic, just like you can't be racist to a white person. "Heterophobia" if it were a real thing does no harm, at most it hurts some straight people's feelings when they go on urban dictionary and find out breeder was meant as an insult. Homophobia on the other hand gets people killed, harassed, bullied, suicidal, strips people of their basic rights and is embedded in seemingly innocent things, like jokes or even not mentioned as if it doesn't exist in popular media, and pushing LGBT people out of what is considered acceptable or normal. So while I thank you for what you're saying there, the fact is that heterophobia doesn't exist.

I know this won't remotely come close to comparing to what you have to go through on practically (if not literally) a daily basis, though it does raise a related point. I once told an acquaintance (IN the Sexual Education Centre wherein I volunteered, no less) that I have been attracted to transgender men in the past and would have no problem dating and having sex with one. Said acquaintance then stated that I'm not really gay; now it would have been one thing if they had said sexuality is fluid and gone from there, but instead he or she (who will remain nameless) insisted that this made me pansexual. Not only is it "none of their goddamn bidness" how I identify, but that in turn undermines the identity of transgender men. The saddest part is that we had to be TRAINED and sit in on multiple lectures and workshops to even volunteer there (and that was definitely a topic discussed almost ad nauseum). Moreover, who knows how many people said acquaintance peer-counselled and fed this bullshit to: and in turn, just made them feel either confused or misplaced or misunderstood or even ostracized. What I'm getting at is that dumbasses, unfortunately, are everywhere. I wish I could simply say this shouldn't make you feel ostracized, or even frustrated; however, I realize that it's a feat easier said than done. As for everyone else reading this; no one has the right to dictate to you your sexual orientation. You, and only you, have the right to identify yourself as any given sexual orientation; it's also certainly not something that has to be done on a schedule. Okay, I think I'm done. *End rant*.

Those people have insecurities about their own sexuality and for that reason, they support bisexual erasure. The less RJ talks about bisexuality(the less anybody talks about it) the better these bigots feel about themselves and therefore go into denial mode. Biphobics are usually bisexuals in hiding.

Zeke Krahlin Nitpicking much? I'm acting partly like a...what's the name? Ah.."butch"? I'm driving a motorbike, I am fixing Computers, I am completely helpless with children (but this part gets better due to my nieces), I am wearing boots and workers jeans. So this is affirming that I'm a lesbian instead of being bi? The point is - and this is pointed out pretty good: If *I* am the one who is defining herself as *bi*, then it is simply nobodies business to question it. You are not in my head. You don't know how I feel, how I think. And judging about my "acting" is exactly what people are constantly throwing at homophobes. "Don't judge me by my acting." So, he is acting campy in parts - so does a good friend of mine and he is straight as a pole. Can we now all treat people as "humans" instead of black, white, gay, straight, bi, lesbian, transgender, asian, freaking flying spaghetti monster? Thank you.
@Tantejay
@Tantejay 10 лет назад
Zeke Krahlin So being gay or straight - according to you - is the business of strangers who also are being gay (or straight)? I call bullshit. This is the exact problem we have: People who are caring too much about the sexuality of a person. Whatever a person does, whoever said person is sleeping with: This is not the business of ANY person on this planet aside the two people involved. I am not ignoring that people get bashed for being gay. But you, derailing the fact that bisexuals have their own tiny little problems and aiming to: "BUT THE GAAAYS" is not helping one thing. With your attitude you are happily fulfilling all prejudices about "campy gay divas". Tone it down a bit. Go after those who are *really* your enemy. Like Michelle Bachman or almost any of those bible humping bigots in the bible belt. But here you are actually complaining about things you are agreeing with - they are just not said the way you would like to have. And this is as narrow minded as any homophobic bastard.

THEORY ON BISEXUALITY: Many gay people do claim to at first be bisexual as they tip-toe out of the closet as a way of making the "coming out process" easier. These people however, were never truly bisexual to begin with. I believe that most people who truly are bisexual, instead choose to live a heterosexual lifestyle. Consider the amount of gay people who say they would have chosen to be straight if they could have. Well, for someone who is bisexual, the pretense of being straight isn't quite as much of a struggle since they are not being 100% disingenuous with themselves. Also, consider the potential number of "straight" people who secretly have homosexual experiences in private. One quality that differentiates sexual orientation from other personal characteristics, such as ethnicity or heritage, is that there is no concrete way to determine sexual attraction aside from what the individual claims, thereby making sexual orientation completely subjective. I believe that if there were less of a stigma attached to homosexuality, that there would be a significant increase in people claiming to be bisexual. Thoughts and opinions?
@tcampbellnm

I think your last statement is probably true. I believe our sexuality is much more fluid than commonly accepted. The key word is accepted and by that, I mean by society in general. If we were more open to sexual experiences, I think we'd see many more people claiming to be bisexual, perhaps favoring one gender more than the other, but attracted sexually to both.

Gosh! I'm loving you so much now! Subscribed! (Not in a creepy way. Taken, madly in love, committed). You address so many issues that I wish people understand. Trust me, I understand how shitty it can be. I'm panromantic asexual, with a strong female lean. It's so hard to explain to people what that even mean, because most people have no clue whatsoever, and are blatantly blind. I have people constantly telling me that they feel bad for my significant other, and that I'll get cheated on and left because I don't have sex with him. I respond to them saying "If Thomas doesn't have a problem, what's your problem?" I get responses like "Because sex is natural and healthy". Who are they to decide that? I don't naturally feel the urge to have sex, therefore, in my reality, it isn't natural. People can be ridiculous. How does my sex life (or rather, the lack of it) even affect them? I wish people would stop being half as narrow minded as they are, and maybe then, the world would be a better place.

I can completely relate to what you're saying. Labels are supposed to help people understand someone not box them into someone else's parameters. I'm not really a big fan of labels myself because I think that you should just be yourself and that's that, you shouldn't have to explain who you are or fit into a category. But for the purposes of helping others understand I tell people I'm pansexual which can turn things into a whole disagreement on isn't that the same as bisexual or that you're "thirsty" because you're attracted to whoever you're attracted to and not just 1 group. But don't worry eventually one day these people will hopefully learn to accept everyone and we won't have to focus so much on what makes people different, we can all just be ourselves and love who we love and that'll be the end of it.

What I find amazing about this whole conversation is how limited and boring the question of who we find sexually attractive is when it just gets reduced to the 'plumbing'. One person's sexuality is almost totally about the act, it's all physical. For someone else it's all about the emotions, and the act is just a way you show that. We have no word for that distinction, at least, none that I know of. One person gets totally hooked on one person, and while they are with that person no one else gets a look in. For someone else whilst they're shagging this person they're thinking about their next conquest. We do have a word for the first of these, monogamist, but that's not widely used. For some people, it's all about the genitals, for others it's a whole body experience. And yet all people can see is 'you've got to be gay or straight', or 'gay, straight or bi,' as if that was the only thing worth talking about. No two people have the same sexuality, heck, I don't have the sexuality I had 10 years ago, and I bet it'll be different again next year. Just learn to be comfortable with your own sexuality, respectful of others, and consensual in your actual conduct. Nothing else matters. End of rant.

thank you so much. I had a conversation with my wife today that brought me nearly to tears not 12 hours ago about this topic exactly. I've been faithfully married for over 10 years now and yes I identify as Bi (though pan is probably more accurate). I told my wife that i'm bi before our first date and to her credit her response was and i quote "and?" Her response to my reaction was equally fantastic, she told me if that guy wanted to be an idiot that was his choice and i can be her little slut puppy any time. I didn't hear about bisexuality until I got to 13 or 14. I didn't even know what the term gay meant until I was 12 because I'd only ever heard it as an offensive slur. But not knowing about bisexuality made me deny my attraction to girls for a long time because I liked boys too, and didn't think you could like both. It really sucked, and like you said, school doesn't seem to teach anything other that heterosexuality, with a brief mention of homosexuality.

Yesterday me and my friend were discussing the new vocabulary and termology of our generation such Heteronormaty, Pansexuality, Heteroflexible, and much more. Being an open minded person, I loved learning all the ways our social and sexual society are changing and this video taught me even more. I have recently began to realize or explore the possibility that I am bisexual or even pansexual, I of course wish to learn more through experiences and gain knowledge so I can make the personally correct decision. However, there are times knowing that i'm unclear about my status could hurt me in the sense that even the queer community can be a bit judgmental especially at the college i'm attending to; or at least I get this feeling they're more elite than they realize. Either way, I'm looking and slowly finding people that are supportive of my explorative and curious mind and will help me in knowing both how the world is growing and my own sexuality is growing. Great video. I'm not bi (I think, anyway) but my fianceé is, and she gets a lot of this shit when people know that she's a bisexual woman engaged to a man. Even though she's probably more attracted to women than to men in general. I do have one question, though: Do you think "bicuriosity" is a real thing, or is it just a way to dismiss actual bisexuality as mere experimentation or a phase?
@vnorthru
@vnorthru 10 лет назад
I think bicuriosity, though it may be true for some, is a way to dismiss bisexuality. Unfortunately many people do not understand that sexuality is a spectrum instead of black and white. So even among bisexuals there is variation and they could be attracted to both genders but lean more towards one than the other. My sister is bisexual and definitively more attracted to females than males, but is currently in a committed relationship with a male. Her being in a relationship with a male has not changed the fact she is bisexual since she is still very attracted to females.

vnorthru That makes sense. I have always identified as straight because I've never been with a man, but even though I've never doubted my attraction to women I've often had fantasies about what giving a man a blowjob might be like. I don't think I could ever do anal though, with a woman nor a man.
@vnorthru
@vnorthru 9 лет назад
Eli Mullis It could be that you are bisexual but lean towards females. Actually when my sister came out to me, she started by asking if I had ever questioned my sexuality? I hadn't, I'm a straight female and have never felt a sexual attraction to another female. How you describe your fantasies with males is somewhat similar to how my sister described how she felt about females, although once she accepted she was bisexual she loved the idea of sex with women but didn't think that was acceptable before coming out since we were raised very religious. Since she has accepted being bisexual she is much happier and accepts herself. You need to find what will make you happy, so you may be bisexual but still prefer to be primarily with females. And when it comes to sex, everyone is different in what they like, so if your not comfortable with something then don't do it.
@elimullis9940

vnorthru That very well could be the case, but I can't say with 100% certainty if it is or not. Like I said I've never been with a man, so to me it seems kind of silly to identify as bi or even "possibly" bi. I'd have to experience it firsthand to determine whether or not I actually like it. I'm very happy with my fianceé now, so I may not find out unless we agree to an open marriage (a topic on which we have already had a rather honest and positive discussion) or get a divorce. All things considered, I'm not particularly worried about it right now.
@vnorthru

Eli Mullis And that's fine. Sometimes we get to hung up on labels, which can sometimes confuse things. The thing with sexuality is it is a spectrum and sometimes with labels it is not clear cut. As long as you are happy with who you are then don't worry too much about what to call yourself. Best of luck to you and your fianceé.

I had much more respect and admiration for you and shep before you moved to LA. Seems like everyone loses touch with themselves. I should know i lived there before. You have 67k subscribers and maybe 400k max on your main channel. You aren't the biggest fish in the sea and no one is getting upset about your bi-sexuality

This is the most ignorant and irrelevant comment ever. RJ has not changed at all, he has always been RJ. He has also ALWAYS been bisexual. A bisexual making a video about biphobia? Shocking! I guess that means Tyler Oakley (nor any other gay youtuber with a large amount of subscribers) should never make videos talking about homophobia because they're popular in youtube. How in the fuck does that make any sense to you? A large amount of subscribers does not mean" discrimination no longer exists." Everyone in the lgBt community still suffers from it, and it is disgusting for you to attack a bisexual man for making a video about biphobia. You lose respect and admiration for someone because they chose to make a video in their own damn channel to talk about discrimation? Really? You got issues buddy.

Well done, RJ! Probably the best, most thorough, most accurate description of a bisexual identity I have ever heard on RU-vid! The only part I agree but would add onto is that some people do make a bisexual identity a transition point. I like to think of this as the bisexual train station. To those in transition between straight and gay/lesbian, I say "Yes, you are in bisexual land, but have a ticket elsewhere. We love you and support you. But please recognize there are those of us who live here and a bi identity is a stable, lifelong label. Thus when you get to your final destination realize that bisexuality does exist, even though you were just on the train!"
@joedirt4109
@joedirt4109 10 лет назад
That's not a bad analogy, although I feel a lot of gay guys have the easy ability when they realize they are gay to take the express route or to fly a jet over the station to get where they know they need to be.

Fun fact : I identify as a gay man, but I still have a small "bi fringe" (I might be 90-95% gay), strictly on the sexual side, but I wouldn't like to spend my life with a girl. I get loads of shit about it, because I'm causing "bi erasure". My friend identifies as a lesbian. She is as lesbian as I am gay. She gets loads of shit about it, because guess what. She isn't causing "bi earsure". She is "hurting the lesbian community". Come on, people. Bigotry doesn't suit the minorities well. If we have to have "acted" or thought 100% gay every second of our lives to be admitted in the special gay club, all those who had children with women before coming out would be bi, and that's ridiculous. They might be bi enough that they could survive in denial of their gayness for some time, but that's it. Same would go with me : I could at best fool myself for some time, but I would always have a longing to be with a man. Unless orientation fluidity hits.

I have recently began to not deny who I am (denial in fear of rejection), and be my honest self; that I am bisexual. Now, I'm not announcing it all over my Facebook or to everyone I know because like you so hilariously stated... it's none of anyone's business :-). I've been so depressed because I know if I did tell some of my family, I would be rejected. For instance, my mother, and maybe even my husband's parents. Just so you know perfect stranger, your video helped me a lot, and I thank you for being my voice, and explaining bisexuality so well. It goes without saying and I will be sharing your video whenever the opportunity calls for some explanation. Thank You! And now, I subscribe...

Real talk though... Scar Jo in Avengers, Don Jon or Lucy? In all seriousness, you sir are a great role model in the bisexual community. It's unfortunate how much we have to validate to people our orientation but in doing so we're educating others. This video would make great reference material not only because it's informational but it is witty and humorous. Thank you sir for being you.

I would find it difficult to be in a same sex relationship with somebody who was also attracted to the other sex. I wonder if there is another video here, asking Will how he feels about it? It is not about accepting bisexuality as real, but for instance, if I was in a relationship with somebody who's browser history was full of straight/ bisexual porn, I am not sure that I could accept that. Probably for many rational and irrational fears. I also find it interesting that you chose to close down any of arguments around bisexuals experimenting with somebody different to the gender of their partner by saying that you are in a committed relationship. Obviously that applies to you, but I also see that there are many bisexuals that need to have that other part of their sexuality a part of their lives. For instance, I think there are a lot of straight women who would simply refuse to be a part of a bisexual relationship. I hope none of this has come across as prejudiced and if it did, please correct me, because I want to learn.

I'm a straight female and my ex was bisexual. Really the only way our relationship differed from a regular straight relationship was that we'd sometimes fight over our taste in men (his was just dreadful). I feel that if you're constantly afraid of your partner experimenting with others, it's not their sexuality that's the the problem but your trust issues. There's just nothing different.

I've never been attracted to bisexuals and there is no real reason other than I just find gay men more attractive. It's attractive knowing they are gay and that they are like me, so we get each other in that way. When I tell bisexuals that they get pissed and say I'm discriminating and that I hate bisexuals lol. Theres a lot of unnecessary drama surrounding bisexuals.
