I was following sesse .. at some point it was "Black mates in 36", and there was only one suggested move to continue. After few minutes Magnus made a different move, evaluation became "Black mates in 29" loool .. You can almost hear sesse thinking "nice one Magnus" :D
That conjures up a funny image in my mind, almost a pokemon-like battle, a wild Agadmator leaping diagonally past Aronian, the latter being immediately frozen before then being violently dragged off of the board. I mean path.
Magnus is just on a whole 'nother level right now. I firmly believe he felt like he mastered positional chess and is now trying to be the master of attacking chess. He said in his documentary those are the two types and he was a positional player who slowly grinded wins. But now he is coming all out at his opponents. It's amazing to watch.
Lol carlsen considers himself slow and grinding? I havent followed chess for very long but when Im watching his games im just trying to follow his constant attacks
@@nemdenemam9753 Of course he is always trying to get the initative, as any other super GM. Brandon is meaning that Carlsen usually tries to achieve solid positions in the middle game, trying to avoid risky and complex lines. Then in the endgame he goes for the kill.
This is the Carlsen style nothing has changed but the opennings. If you are following the Capa Saga. or know Fisher's games you has seen this before. Mate threats with light infantry.
His words not mine about being more of a positional chess player...watch his documentary on Netflix. And @lukinhas matos...exactly! Yes he is the best in the world and has been playing for a long time, so of course he has had quick/fierce attacking games. But in general, until the last year or so, he was always playing very solid chess trying to gain a small advantage to carry into the endgame. Whether it was maintaining the bishop pair or winning a pawn, or even being even on material but messing up his opponents pawn structure. But now he is doing that and more each game. Agadmator has said it himself it's like this alpha-zero inspired barbarian approach. I think the players of today's chess just aren't used to it on their level and that is also why we are seeing more blunders. Anyways it's fun to watch and I love agadmators commentary and analysis. It's an exciting era of chess.
This is the year of Magnus. He is consolidating his n1 position in the chess world without letting any doubts about who is in charge here. Plus he is playing much more exciting lines rather than conforming with draws.
Magnus' game seems to have ascended to a new level. I think defending the world championship has relieved a lot of pressure. He's playing with a freedom and a confidence which is pretty scary considering the opposition. I think he's also drawn a lot inspiration from alphazero. It's amazing to watch.
Congratulations Magnus Carlsen, you are an excellent winner of games against players you have never before defeated in classical time format with the black pieces.
His videos from over a year ago and older looks like he literally just woke up, or was recovering from a bender the night before. Now, the lighting is better, the quality is better, he seems more upbeat and energized, more natural and comfortable in front of the camera.
And of course, on top of us having Magnus and all these other extremely strong players to watch, there is another factor which makes this an excellent era of chess. I'll give you all a few seconds to pause your reading of the comment to figure out what makes this era of chess so amazing....If you thought of us having agadmator excellently showing us all of these great games daily on RU-vid then you are an excellent lover of beautiful chess videos on RU-vid.
I am a professional musician and I went over 15 years without playing chess because music became my love and still is, but your channel has me playing again. I have followed this channel very hard since I found it. Thanks, even though I am still a professional musician, I still play one game everyday and go through at least one of your games daily.
Super Grand Masterful game. The way MC takes over a game that is seemingly drawn, especially against the world number 2, is just mind-boggling. No matter how many times I see him do it, it never ceases to amaze me.
I recently came back to chess (though I never was a very good player in the first place) and I have to say, I enjoy your content quite a lot. The age of youtube has really made lots of hobbies a lot more enjoyable as you can virtually share it and learn from so many fascinating people like you. Thanks a lot for your hard work and amazing board, you should definitely keep it.
I wached the game live, Carlsen went from being at a disvantage with Sesse giving +0.8 at some point to Ding to -1 for Carlsen at the beginning of the end game, then Carlsen crushed Ding with the Bishop pair, incredible !
Without further adieu...Agadmator extended the board while Levon was running...but this just doesn't work😂😂😂.....what he should have done is jus gone after Levon after the game....but rather he chose a different line😂😂😂....I'm saying all this while sipping on my glass.of water😊😊
We will never know. Kasparov, Fischer, Morphy or Capablanca with the possibilities of today may have had the possibility to get as good as Magnus is today
This is really a very clear game, Carlsen excellence in this endgame reminds of the greatests at their best (I mean the classics, from Lasker to Karpov). Congratulations for this channels success, if compared with others with high Elos and grandiloquent fide titles, You shows that the RU-vid reality is quite different.
I'm almost positive the signature on the dark square is Magnus. Fits his personality perfectly though. Just an outlier as far as mental capacity and beastly endeavors.
Plot Twist: in future where man and machine mix with each other, future Carlsen with Alpha Zero installed on his brain, traveled back in time to break his own record. Note: he couldn't travel much further in time because their technology isn't advanced enough (relatively speaking) so that's why would champagne match is still 12 draw!
I like agadmater. Quality account of chess history, players character, background and goals in addition to a balanced account of the game. An account for chess players, not too laborious, but with sufficent analysis to maintain interest. A friendly voice also helps.
Having watched this live, Ding resigned after Carlsen took the pawn on a6. But you could tell that this was absolute torture for him. Carlsen played top engine move after top engine move and by the end Ding looked like he'd lost the will to live. A truly great performance by one of (if not) the best.
The best for sure. Not demeriting Fischer, Capablanca, Kasparov etc but Carlsen is far more prodigious and also stronger. His intuition is literally frighteningly powerful
Thanks for making these videos, I never miss them. One of the things I enjoy as I follow along with an engine running in the background, is to try to understand your choices for which comments to make, which lines to point out, and so on. You clearly give a lot of thought to it, but sometimes I understand your choices better than other times. For example, after 52. Kf1 you remark that White has nothing better than to repeat moves. But it's not so. The engine shows a mating attack available after Kf1, starting with 52. ... g2. Instead White could force Black to grind it out using 52. Be2. Maybe you didn't mention this because Black's mating attack after 52. Kf1 was going to be similar to what happened in the game. But still, it was a little incongruous to hear you say that there was nothing better than repeating moves, when the engine was saying there's a mating attack after that same move.
If you are watching. Have a very nice day. A little bit anoying every thing is just very nice. Water- photos- moves- games- victories- Even very nice- seems very nice- But the flow in the games is just very nice- as is his work. Congrats overall.
Dings move A5 deserves some more credit than just "with A5" :) . Blocks a straight forward winning idea of retreating the bishop to B8 and getting it onto the A7-G1 diagonal.
9:33 -- Trading queens is optimal here, but it should be done on the c6 rather than b7 square, as a knight on c6 will fork Black's remaining queen-side pawns. 12:59 -- Nf1 is in fact White's best move here: Nf1, hxg3, Nxg3, Bc6 (and the White king cannot approach the trapped bishop), Bd1, a5, Bxg4 (relinquishing defense of the knight), Bxa4, Kg2 (forcing the trade), Bxg3, Kxg3, ...Black is up a pawn, but they're all on one side of the board, and White's king is closer to the queening squares, and so the game should be a draw.
Nice board. On my wall i have behind glass my first notation book of 1982. There was the TV-World-Cup in Hamburg/germany 1982. Big event, because it was the only way to watch games on TV-good old times without Internet. I watched live. On the front side i have the signatures of all competitors: Karpov, Spasskij (thats how he wrote his name), Nunn, Seirawan, Timman, Bouaziz, Torre and Lobron. In the final Karpov won against Spasskij. Nice game btw.
#suggestion Why don't you send them invites to interview them? I think they will be very happy to have an interview with you since you have excellent subscribers :)
Even with all the complication, its amazing how magnus always ends up with a small advantage or better position with equal pieces. He will take whether its an Active pieces, better position, or small advantage. He is always ahead against top GMs like they are just an IM.. I guess his roots as being a positional player are still there even switching to a more offensive player. To reach 3000, he needs to be aggressive in the offense
Masterclass chess by Magnus. It's not about opening that matters cuz everybody knows it, they play same opening from 100 yrs. What matters is the endgame and Magnus has almost mastered it. There will come time when people will be studying on how to master end game like Magnus in next 100 years. It will be carved on book. Also not to mention, this signed board will cost million in 50yrs, You should keep it safe cuz it will be antique.
Agadmator has been presenting these analyses for quite a while now at a torrid pace. He has a special and unique ability to make the games understandable, exciting and fun ( I’m ~ 1800). I think it is time the chess political establishment recognize his contribution to our game... Jim Gilks
In 100 years time, there'll be someone doing a RU-vid series on the Carlsen Saga, doing this game with a title of Legendary Streak Continues. Where has Magnus found this next level from!? It's so impressive.
Do try again at the tournament, shoot a vlog of yourself there. Collecting signatures are cool, but the best of all is a video of you interacting with the Masters.
The players are signing the board because they think it's a contest to win prizes written under the squares. Sign one of the lucky squares and you could win a refreshing glass of tap water, a slightly used sofa, two tickets to a ZZ Top concert in Austria, or a "Hello Everyone!" hoodie.
I've asked this question in the past, why the bishop pair is superior than two knights or knight & bishop and not one reply 😂. Thanks Agamator for explaining it. For those who dont know 9:13
