If you look at her interviews over the years, this is about authenticy. If she is not completly happy with the interview - it shows, if she and the journalist hit off in a great way, it shows. Also travelling and having different amount of energy on different days.

I've loved Björk since i was a teen. For many reasons, but mostly for her authenticity. People who embrace their authenticity- no apologies; no explanations- are so magnetic and inspiring. I do a little internal jump-for-joy every time I discover a new eccentric just doin' their thang. Authenticity is the key to happiness and personal empowerment

I think creative people are curious people . When you are curious you have a lot of questions and you get a lot of answers and when you don't get an answer from someone or something you try to figure it out by yourself and this pushes you to do think and be imaginative. And creativity is, i think, "just" the consequence of curiosity .. There is nothing more sad or boring than people who are not curious and imaginative and who do not ask questions or do not try to find answers by themselves, to what they don't know . This is why i do not make any difference between artist and craftspeople or scientists , all these people are people who are curious and thirsty for answers , and this is why they are so creative . We owe everything accomplished by mankind throughout its entire history, to creative people, both the best and the worst . Bjork is one of those people who brings out the best in human's creativity in her own field(s). This is what makes her so unique . A lot of artists are driven by fame , money, recognition, etc... For them art is not the aim, it is the way to reach the aim. Bjork and people like her , are like scientists , and for them the path is as important as the goal , and just like scientists try to figure things out because they are curious, true artists create things because they enjoy the creating or creative process as much as the outcome and understand that true art is truly its own reward . I have to stop writing stuff when i am drunk and stoned . Anyway i'll read that again tomorrow and see if it makes any sense. If i can remember i wrote it . .

I want to "like" this comment a billion times! Curiosity is such an endearing trait, IMO. I couldn't agree more with what you said: "There is nothing more sad or boring than people who are not curious and imaginative and who do not ask questions or try to find answers by themselves". There is no way to gain intelligence, knowledge, or garner meaning from experience without curiosity. Sadly, many schools ( and parents :( ) seem to still be on a mission to quell this natural trait in children ( examples of this include: limiting kid's interests and choices based upon their gender; not letting them express themselves adequately- creatively or otherwise) , and as a result those children grow up without any imagination, creativity, or critical thinking skills/ intellectual autonomy. If we want innovators, we need to allow and *encourage* curiosity! It's better for the kid's mental health, too, as they are allowed to explore their natural talents and be whoever they authentically are- WITHOUT shame. Anyway. I know this is an old comment, so you may not see it, but sending love and high-fives back in time to you! Peace from Aus x

@@3leggedsharkkickssurferinballs It seems that the time travel that is youtube is still functioning. I had forgotten about that comment and that evening, but i am glad you reminded it to me and i thank you very much for the kind words. I couldn't agree more with your ideo of a proper way to raise kids. We live in a strange society where parents do not want kids, they want robots made to fit their every expectations. They get a pedigree pet which matches what they think a dog or a cat should look like, they get an architect to built there dream house based on HIS idea of what a dream house is, they choose their look according to magazines, and their job according to the common trend, and sadly they choose even their personality based on what other people might think. So of course they want model kids, they can brag about and parade around. The doctor son, the lawyer daughter, god forbids the boy shows any sensibility to art or fashion and hell forbids the daughter to favour becoming a F1 mechanics. Fortunately some parents are different and embrace their kid's natural tendencies and inclinations, and some kids are lucky enough to be raised by parents who know the importance of psychological stability and freedom for a child. Bjork was that child and it sure paid off. I was lucky to be raised by scholars who saw school as a waste of time and a totally antiquated institution, they mostly raised me until i was 9 dragging me along with them wherever work took them (and it took them everywhere) so i was lucky to grow up in many countries and among many different cultures. Then they sent my twin brother and I to a very progressive boarding school and let us develop by ourselves based in this school's teaching but more importantly what we had already experienced and learned in the first 9 years of our lives. I asked myself a lot of questions and tried everything i could try without fear of the consequences and never allowed anyone to influence my choices based in their belief system (or what they believe to be theirs anyway). I think being gay was also a blessing (in disguise first but as it turned out, definitely a blessing , looking back on it), because it made me question everything and first and foremost, societies and the world in which we live. I didn't change the world and just became a wild life veterinarian and ethologist, as along the years it became very clear to me that my empathy toward people was conditional and very relative and subjective, while my genuine love for animals, wasn't. I hope things turned out the way you wanted to as well. And i hope you are in a happy place, both geographically and figuratively. Be safe and let's survive this pandemic and then when we can finally rejoin the world, let's try to really make it a better place. We won't be given a better chance to do so. Greeting from Hornstandir (the polar opposite from where you are) where i look after arctic foxes in my cabin. I'm Sigur by the way. (Morgan is my middle name).

@3leggedsharkkickssurferinballs 4 года назад
@@morganolfursson2560 Hey Sigur, I'm so happy to read your lovely reply. It seems to me that we are very much on the same page regarding these subjects! Your parents sound amazing; I hope that there are many more like them out there in the world. Your wisdom, kindness, and insight is testament to the wonderful job they've obviously done, and reaffirms to me how important it is to raise children to be their true selves, and not, as you say, to turn them into robots/ "model kids" who are treated more like some kind of status symbol than actual human beings. Good on you for looking after animals! They are so precious. You are actively working to make the world a better place :) Yes, you're right: we are being given a chance to really make a positive difference in the world. I know I'm not alone when I say that this period of isolation has given me the perfect chance to engage in introspection and contemplation...and as a result to realise what is ( and is not) truly important to me. For me, I've realised that the mental health and wellbeing of humans ( especially children!) is my primary concern. I'll definitely be trying my best to raise more awareness/ engage in mental health advocacy. I really want to be able to help kids. That's my plan! Even better if I can incorporate creativity into the mix somehow. My own kiddo is still quite young, but is also quite open about not being straight. I am very lucky to have access to a school which is quite progressive, but it took several disappointing experiences at several different schools ( and a stint at homeschooling, which unfortunately was too difficult for me to sustain as I am a single parent) before I managed to find it! It makes me feel sad for other kids/ young people who are battling it out at schools that are still stuck in the dark ages. It's hard enough being a teenager in general...I can't imagine how difficult it would be to be growing up gay in the confines of such institutions. I also see non-neurotypical kids struggling.....and..pretty much all kids who don't neatly fit into rigid, outdated ideas of what it means to be "normal" ( who is- and WHAT *is* normal, anyway?? I don't think there's any such objective thing, otherwise we'd ALL be able to agree on what it is!) I really think widespread reform needs to happen in our schools. It frustrates and depresses me sometimes, but I also see glimmers of hope- I do see more and more teachers and parents realising the importance of mental health and emotional wellbeing; some now even introducing mindfulness meditation into the daily routine. It's a start! I aim to help this movement gain momentum. Anyway, I have written soooooo much, now! So i'll go, but I do hope you're well and wish you all the best for your future ( and your present moment) ! It's so nice to talk ( well, type, haha) to you. I've not been to your part of the world ( yet!) - I've only seen pictures and videos....but from what i see it looks spectacularly beautiful! Sending love to you and your foxes from down here in Oz! ☮️ 🦊 🌟

I love what you say about minds shaking hands! This is a great description. I think I could also apply this to the feeling I get whenever I read a book : it's as if the Author has allowed my mind to "shake hands" with theirs. I hope your day is a good one, kind human! Polycube I agree. Although I think it would be best if we declared money obsolete, & we have a resources based economy instead, with a completely alternative purpose for our existence on the planet. One of fulfillment, liberation, freedom, & getting the best out of our brief time here. Not just for artists, because I believe every human has art within them. For everyone.
@Maltcider
@Maltcider 9 лет назад
Caldera Records I am for that as well, a resourced based economy would be great if it were decentralized like in Cantons. There's a potential for a centralized one to become too Authoritarian and unresponsive. Basic Income is universal as well. It's not only for those with their 'artist' card :)

Polycube I was talking to a friend about this the other day. And it's funny that only scientists, philosophers & artists can see the way to the future. A thinking man's world perhaps. But that's only one part or plane of her attractiveness. My family has been mostly farmers or lived simple lives. I'm tired of people who have IQs like 140 thinking that they deserve everything like my stuff because my IQ is lower. 140 is like the median IQ in my family for the most part, minus the few who were diseased. My sister got that result and declared she was average. They made tons of art, past generations and then this generation. They were good in school, but no one behind the generation of my grandparents dreamed much of upwards mobility in society, just good at school and hyperactive on the farm or building houses. We all have a bit of ADHD in us. That's probably the "evolution" they throw at everyone, especially the disabled. On another note, I don't like when people think that we can't do other things besides our jobs.

you call everyone who are different Asperger? You may as well label every single person on Earth with diagnoses.

Hmmm....Ok...I have to admit, I always thought she was a little pretentious and attention seeking with some of her stunts. Her music is just OK in my book. Some songs are good, nothing I would lose my mind over. But...I dig her vibe here. She seems to have a decent head on her shoulders...And some of her videos are pretty cool to watch...She might...MIGHT be growing on me.

She's anything but pretentious. Unless knowing what she wants and being uncompromising is pretention.....it isn't. A decent head on her shoulders is an understatement. I think that it is difficult for her to explain exactly what goes on in that wonderful, complex head, because it's beyond the understanding of most.

In an older interview she said that she doesn't like giving autographs because she feels like people who ask her the autograph are humiliating themselves in front of her, and it's pretty stupid to treat her like she's some higher being. She would really like people to be equal to her and not kneel in front of her just because she's a celebrity or something. To her, the musician and the bricklayer are equally respectable.

She's the antithesis of American. She thinks about what she's going to say. She doesn't just rattle on about nothing. She herself said that Americans can talk for an hour and say nothing.
