She's a sound/music artist. She takes the art of music and sound to a whole new level. She experiments and tries different things, different instruments. She also pours everything in her mind into it. It doesn't have to make sense for it to be art. You either get her or you don't. This is what makes Bjork so unique and wonderful as an artist.
With all of my natural loving musical soul, I am in awe of Bjork. John Lennon would have adored her. Her gift to the world cannot be understated. At 43 years of age, I find great inspiration with everything I consume of this wonderful individual.
I've got tears in my eyes ~ you couldn't have said it any better, friend. "Björk does music for the people who know what music is all about." One thing I love about her is she makes me love music I wouldn't usually go near. She expands my tastes. I'll follow her to just about wherever her musical quest leads..
Joga is my fav song everrr!!!! "Emotional Landscapes" -- I can never dwell on that phrase for too long .. it is sooo.. perfect. You so do not sound cheesy!! Love
Ah! I just realized the song at 3:54 is the end of the song that she later gave as a tribute to Alexander McQueen... How many other brilliant songs has she left unreleased!? It's driving me crazy!!!
I can't WAIT for the album to come out!!! Only a little while longer! Bjork is definately some goddess who graces the earth with her beauty... she is so amazing! I just have to brag a little. I'm TOTALLY going to one of her concerts in May! I can't wait! My life will be complete lol :-)
Wow -- I totally agree. Medúlla is my fav album of all time, and was the first of Björk's music that I discovered for myself, forced to listen late at night with headphones (WHAT an experience, what a Björkhood). So I have always viewed her other albums as separate .. nothing comes close to the complete immersion of that album. I love the feeling that you're right inside her mouth.. you can hear every little spit bubble ;^P But Volta ... phew..! -- it sure is up there.
An amazing talent, and she seems like a real everyday person. I'm so glad she's a work-a-holic!!! She seems as excited to make this stuff as we are to enjoy it. Thanks for posting this!!!
I always wonder how good it would be to have a musical family or band, where people communicate on levels that can't be seen, though felt... ...that would be proper communication! The environment is the key. I really could do with a constructive change of environment myself. Very different from my time at "Elmades", that was very clumsily 'afforded' to me by social services, by force. The ignorance of some systems make it plain to see that "we" still have some way to go, to make progress.
@toonmama6 that's a tremendous compliment to madonna to compare her to someone as eccentric and talented as bjork. you're right M does wish she was as creative as bjork becuase Madonna has GREAT TASTE!
hear hear, it was over a decade and a half ago and the reporter had been stalking her and her young son for two weeks, any stressed single mum would do the same. There are many rockstars who attack photographers all the time and no one cares, even saint chris martin from coldplay has done it and no one labels him a psycho do they? misogynistic bullshit. Bjork is a fucking diamond so indeed, stfu!
i cant get enough of her pronouncing all the letter "R"s and the way the she licks her lips. it's so...fascinating! love the video for 'earth intruders'. Bjork is forever young! WOOPHEE!!
I LOVE ALL THESE COMMENTS>>>> GET READY GUYS YOU KNOW SHE HAS SO MUCH MUSIC TO SHARE WITH US IN THE YEARS TO COME...I VE LOVED BJORK EVER SINCE I WAS 12......AND MAN I ALWAYS KNEW THAT SHE WOULD EVOLVE IN TO THis GREAT MUSIC SCIENTIST THAT SHE IS. TODAY ... check out my page-full of interviews with the bjork....they are truly gems to me . peace
her icelandic accent has gotten stronger... you can even hear it on the album. i shall marry this woman someday , even though she'd probably rip out my hair, chew off my ear and spit it at me within the first week. All part of the appeal. And well put adshdsjf...
(sorry about the ä-s instead of '-s... the characters are next to each other, that's why I made those typos. hope you understood my meaning anyways ;))
@serpico89 yes she is experimental, and is an acquired taste, but in her own words in interviews her eon youtube.. she considers herself a pop musician! My opinion is she claims this because she is a musical interventionalist! I thinks its her duty to expand people's perception of music and open their ears to other emotions and human dimensions that are unexplored. You will see that she just keeps getting better.. I've also herd her say she considers her self a music scientist .
P.S. I am crying because this library computer does not have sound, so all I can do is look at the pretty pictures!!! :S I am SO ordering the Dvd. It will sit next to my Medúlla Dvd ;)
her hair is so thick and greasy and bright and petrol-black! it reminds me of that of a seal-like marine creature or somtething. i'm kind of convinced she's not wholly human.
la neta si esta hermosisima!.... pero esta RE-LOCA! que no lo estoy enfatizando a ser malo... pero... ala madre! imaginate el vato que de verdad la entienda?! O.o Mis respetos...!
I wish i could just have a conversation, is that too much to ask. Bjork you soundtrack my life and 'emotional landscape' (sorry i know how cheesy that is)
Yeah, I guess I understand... so you live in Iceland? What's it like? Have you seen Björk alive? Actually it's been my long-time desire to visit Iceland. And not beacause of Björk but because it seems so exotic and so different and so like nowhere else... :D you know? Heh, hard to explain, but this is definitely the country I must go to some day :)
(continues) At first I thought she had her icelandic accent in her earlier days and she lost it when living in UK but now it's 2007 and the accent is back again. It's not like Iäm complaining, I love her anyhow and I actually prefer the icelandic way of english... but I was just wondering :D Is she doing that on purpose or what gives?
Isnät it weird that Björk has like various accents??? Sometimes she talks in her icelandic way, doing those harsh r-s, then she talks like a native british and then all of a sudden she's all so american... haven't you noticed?
