Hollywood may not recognize Carl Weathers but we fans know His roles were iconic...made movies memorable...Apollo Creed,Dillon,Chubs, Action Jackson, Det. Beaudreaux, Greef Karga... We love you Carl Weathers...Rip...
'THERE IS NO TOMORROW,' 'THERE IS NO TOMORROW'. IT'S THE PHRASE/SENTENCE I WILL NEVER FORGET WHILE WATCHING ROCKY 🥊 3 AT THE AGE OF 16 IN 1982. 🇨🇾🇨🇾👍👍. R.I.P CARL WEATHERS.
He should of got so much more! He had so much potential and should of blown up big like Arnold, Sylvester, Jean Claude, Wesley and Bruce. A very underrated actor RIP CW 🙏
Carl Weathers brought the character of Apollo Creed to the big screen. The development of this character was the main reason the Rocky franchise lasted longer than expected. Big time role model especially in Rocky 3 when he helped the down and out Rocky. He will be missed
“Action Jackson” should’ve had sequels, action figures, cartoons, comic books, video games, and a host of other things that should’ve built that film into a forever going and successful franchise in cinema history. Jericho “Action“ Jackson should’ve been just as big & successful as Die Hard’s John McClane. It’s an absolute travesty.
Great point. And how about Carl as the protagonist in Die Hard? He would have been perfect. Not that I have any complaints about what Bruce Willis achieved. My point is that was exactly the kind of role Carl was overlooked for. Shame on racist Hollywood…the self proclaimed “bastion of liberalism.”
Action Jackson was supposed to be his Beverly Hills Cop or Die Hard, but a new company I think took over the filming company and it kind of got lost and put on the shelf and it never took off!
He was one of the best actors of his time and should have gotten his flowers. Hollywood was knew it but purposefully discriminated and didn’t value his talent.
I truly loved Carl Weathers. I enjoyed Action Jackson. It was rare to see a movie poster with two Blacks on a Billboard. 😊 I wish he had gotten more from Hollywood but I will cherish the cinematic memories he left us with. RIP Carl. May the road rise to meet you. God bless 😇
Carl Weathers was definitely an underrated actor and why I don't know.. He's only remembered for the Rocky movies and being killed off by Ivan Drago in Rocky 4 .. Definitely a very good actor and if there was no Carl Weathers there was no Rocky movies Sylvester Stallone even admitted it.. R.I.P My Brother you will forever be missed KEEP PUNCHIN APOLLO 🙏💙🥊
I have been a Carl Weathers fan ever since I saw Rocky 2 days after it won the Best Picture Oscar. Rocky was a character driven Drama about achieving your dream. In the first film, Rocky tells Adrian that there's no way for him to win, but if he goes the distance that, in itself, will be a victory. Unfortunately, the Rocky films turned from an artistic endeavor into a long MTV music video in Rocky III and Rocky IV. Weathers had his own starring role as the title character Action Jackson. But it didn't succeed at the box office. He also starred on his own Detective show called Fortune Dane. Hollywood has never been kind to men with muscles and he isn't any different. Denzel Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Fox had no muscles but trained as actors.
Has anyone noticed that every major role he had he died?, in Rocky he died, in predator he died, even In a comedy Happy Gilmore he died, Sounds like a Hollywood invoked curse to me.
There's just nobody like Carl Weathers! A true inspiration for just everyone. Only he was the one who could do justice to characters like Appollo... And because Carl performed these characters, Appollo became immortal!! These petty things like discrimination and all that racial nonsense just can't matter when you have people so great as Carl Weathers! ✊💪 God bless you wherever you are sir. Keep punching, Appollo!
Fk Hollywood in its entirety. They sure gave me some good movies. Alot of great memories, but the abuse that goes on behind the scenes is absurd. Hollywood is a cult following. It seems they out the actors who wont suck paynus (literally) and play ball. Carl I loved you as a child and still in death. In your sleep they said. Fitting for a Legend. Rest easy brother.
One of my Super Heroes has left me, now you can Rest In Peace. We will miss you uncle Carl. When Action Jackson came out, forget Superman. I was Carl Weather. One thousand years ago, he would have been a King of one of my tribes……..here, not Africa.
Maybe Dillon should have survived Predator and then play Glover's part in the sequel. He could have been like Chief Brody in Jaws 1 and 2. He could have known from his previous experience and then show up in a later sequel like Alan Grant did in Jurassic World.
I hope Hollywood realizes what a great loss it has! Condolences to his family but also to his colleagues and friends, such as Sylvester Stallone, Arnold...etc. God rest him 🙏🏼🕯️
Carl Weathers has a very refined, almost elegant style of acting that is a little bit niche, and adaptable to any format that requires a respectable figure who supports the rest of the cast, whereas Denzel has a very leaderlike approach, where know matter where he is, he always seems to be able to project a sense of all-knowing wisdom, and that wisdom is applicable to everything, therefore it can spread and show itself in any film he's in, causing it to be successful. It's just two different types of people who contribute to films in different, but uniquely critical ways, which is necessary for the film industry as a whole because it means you're never lacking in what you need, which is just as important as being a top tier success.
By time of his death, he was starting to make a comeback and his networth was starting to finally climb as well. He had climbed to around $8M, which is pretty good, but still an insult to his caliber.
Yes, his career could’ve been “bigger” or more successful. However, none of us knew the man. I never heard the man complain about his career. Some actors are content with supporting roles and actually prefer them over leading roles. Also, maybe he didn’t have the best agent. We can only speculate. May he rest peacefully.
Back in the 80's we didn't give a shit about skin colour We just loved great action movies and comedies There will never be another time like it, and I was blessed to grow up in the 80s
Carl. WEATHERS IM 60 YEAR OF AGE AND I WATCHED U THROUGHT THE YEARS IN ALL THE ROCKY MOVIIES LOVED U CARL 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢I. JUST. CANT. BELIEVE UR GONE FROM US SOOOO. QUICKLY RIP. UR A HUNK OF A MAN WOW WEEE😢😢😢😢😢
We are not surprised that Hollywood is racist. To compare him with Denzel, is another move to divide us as Africans people. We know that both are fantastic actors and came at 2 different times and paths. He was a talented performer . He one of the best to do it.
Man all of the guys that made my childhood and adult life awesome are making their transitions and there will never be people like the like of Him, Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Bruce Willis, Wesley Snipes, Denzel, and all the other actors of the late 70’s and 80’s blockbusters of Action, Comedy, Horror, and Drama. Let’s cherish these people while we have them ❤
"Christianity is total falsehood the so call Jesus who never existed ("l've done the historical research") has been returning for centuries its all lies ; deception"
Carl Weathers was a Smart Savy Business man and alot of his closes friend's and Big Time Actors in Hollywood knows the facts that he deserves More but sadly the industry didnt want to put him in that Number 1 Spot but Thankfully he roll with the Punches but Made roles Legendary and never be Forgetten🌴✨🙏🏾🕊️✨🌴🙏🏾🕊️✨🌴🙏🏾🕊️✨🌴🙏🏾🕊️✨
Thank you Mr. Weathers, the second the standard for us. Young brothers coming up even there. Sometimes you get wrong. I want to see you on the other side
RIP and thank you again for the great memories 🔥🔥🔥he's hooking he's hooking damn rock what's the matter with you tomorrow there is no tomorrow thers is no tomorrow big facts
Denzel's appeal is he makes all his characters believable and I always found the same to be true of Carl. Carl once said that as much fame and exposure playing Apollo Creed brought him, he believed it typecast him in the eyes of Hollywood for a long time. I personally believe that he should have easily been nominated and won an Oscar for best supporting actor for his portrayal of Apollo Creed in Rocky. He was a great actor and person who brought his best to whatever role he played.
Heck I could've told you that ! Look it how "Hollyweird" looked down on him & "Everyone Else" in "FORCE TEN FROM NAVARONE". Just because it didn't fit "Their Version" of a War Movie !.....Hollyweird had the same attitude towards "RICHARD PRYOR".
The movies Action Jackson and Hurricane Smith should have been made sequels. Me personally I enjoyed those movies. As for Hollywood, Hollywood always have been racist that is nothing new. We live in a racist society plain and simple. But I feel it will be dealt with when Jesus Christ comes back to judge the world.
I think Weathers did have his opportunities, but his shows and movies he starred in weren't successful. Also he wasn't the actor that Denzel is. I'm reminded of Dereck Luke who was touted as the next Denzel. If Boseman hadn't died so young he could have been the next Denzel. Now its up to Michael B Jordan to be the next Denzel.
Not really sure the title does this video (or rather Mr. Weathers) justice. However, it was a great showcase of his career achievements. Please edit the audio better though, the jumping of the music throughout was irritating, voice balance waa generally great. It was refreshing to *not* have his personal life flung in their also, a lovely touch.
My favorite characters were Action Jackson and Colonel Carl Brewster on Tour Of Duty, and he was a Special Forces officer at that!!!! But no matter what role he played, Carl Weathers BROUGHT IT, and he didn't hold back!!!!! R.I.P , sir, and my prayers for your family and friends!!!!!
The truth is they limit all movie/TV viewers to 1 black star while Hollywood has 50 Caucasian counters. They don't want multiple black actors because of fear it'll overshadow others. There's heavy obvious racism but that's an inconvenient conversation for those who don't want to acknowledge it, it's 2024 and nothing's changed. I just pray he gave his life to Christ.
So bc he did reach the heights of Denzel Washington, Will Smith, Eddie Murphy & others success, it must be discrimination of a black actor. Makes total sense. 😂
When Carl Weathers was on the Call Sheet he was the THE BEST on that sheet..And that includes if he acted along side Denzel Washington; which seems to be not the case
I wish they would have had him play T’Challa’s father (Killmonger’s uncle) in an extended role in Black Panther or something. That would have been a little weird though, with him being Adonis Creed’s father Apollo. Btw, they shouldn’t have killed off Apollo. Maybe he could’ve played an aged John Stewart/Green Lantern.
I think the biggest reason he did not got more leading roles was because of "Action Jackson". I totally agree that if that was a big hit he would have more opportunities. He got his chance there. I have never seen the movie. I don't know if it failed because of the production team or because of him. I suspect it was the former.
Great actor and professional athlete and yet so underrated Rip Carl Weathers you were one of the greatest ever Apollo Creed was better than Clubber Lang , Ivan Drago , Tommy Gunn and Mason Dixon
I remember an early appearance in an episode of Good Times. His character seemed convincing enough. He Should have gotten better roles and more lead roles. There's a Lot of OGs from the Blaxploitation Era that should have gotten a try at mainstream roles.
There should have been at least 3 or 4 more "Action Jackson movies with him and Vanity that is for damn sure.. With the right direction they would have been as big as the Lethal Weapon franchise..
Talking about looks back in the day Carl Weathers was just as handsome as Denzel Washington was when he started out. Even in the 2000's he was handsome. So call it as it was. Back in his early acting years the only roles that most black people got were in blaxploitation films. R.I.P. Carl! 😇🙏🏽💖
"Perceived betrayals"? REALLY? He should have had more prominent roles of significance. The man had much more screen presence that Stallone or Swartzi. Come on. Hollywood waited till Denzell and Danny Glover got old to put them in action movies. Purposefully. Mr. Weathers got "Action Jackson". It didn't do well. Yet THAT was his only shot given. Of course that stink to high heaven. Hollywood has done most Black AMERICAN actors WRONG. These British imports is another insult.
