Trevor from the Black Dahlia Murder wasn't a poser as far as I could tell. Dude knew bands like Protector (cited "A Shedding Of Kin" as a great deathrash record) Demolition Hammer, Assassin, Sarcofago, etc and his vest had a lot of underground old school bands on it. Even bands I never heard of. The guy had a pretty massive CD and vinyl collection. Some fans are annoying for sure but their vocalist was far from a poser in my book. A case of fan/artist disconnect.
That's nothing. He knew WAAAY more. His collection was amazing. There's a video of him showing it off. They call him a walking encyclopedia for a reason.
I always thought Black Dahlia Murder was ok, not bad but extremely overhyped. The fact is, they did come up in that early 2000’s metalcore scene where all the hardcore kids were emulating Gothenburg style melodeath, which is why some people would consider them posers. Trevor did seem like a genuine metal fan though, just by an article or two I read by him talking about some of his favorite death metal releases. Anyways, just my two cents
I’m a black dahlia fan fursure. They get a bad rap cuz they played warped tour a lot in their early days and it got them a lot of fans who are knobs. Good Gothenburg style melo death.
I'm one of the guys who brushed them off back during those days. I finally got around to checking them out (maybe 5-6 years ago) and thought it was pretty good music. Not my favorite stuff by any means, but it definitely has its place.
Honestly like The Black Dahlia Muder or not Trevor (the vocalist) was really into "the real metal" the dude was literally a walking encyclopedia when it came to Death Metal. Very knowledgeable.
JDawg had a few cars leave his house the other day and it was a bunch of men he hired to come decimate his anus with their overwhelming girth. He spent the rest of the night farting loads into the toilet.
Bit of a downer, she simply wasn't triggered enough, prefer Mickey's vid from yesterday. Forgot just how nerdy Melanie is, if you were to remove her arm tatt's and replace her Black Dahlia band shirt with a turtleneck sweater she could easily pass for a librarian.
@@distributorovkvlt-points5481 I like Melanie's channel. She has good taste in metal and seems like an all around awesome person, BUT on camera SOMETIMES she can have a bit of low energy. And other times she has a lot of energy. I love her laugh. The librarian comment I can understand. She's smart and obviously well-educated. Those are never bad things. Myself, I'd rather see more blue collar fans of extreme metal showing off their collections then the university types. And there seems to be A LOT of them that have popped up over the past few years. Unfortunately record collecting may have begun to become too expensive a hobby for most people who have physically laborious (low paying) jobs. J Dawg is such a breath of fresh air to YT. And oh, there is more than 1 metal community on YT. THANK SATAN!
@@wikkddevil9336 I recall watching a few of her vids earlier this year and I remember that's what my inner-monologue was trying to tell me, that she, for the most part has good taste in metal, but lacking in her delivery. Most Metal hosts do seem to lack the verve. And you're not imagining it, vinyl is too pricey for most at the moment, thankfully that's a problem I've never had, I'm CD guy.
Owww Rocky's too shy to go on camera he only shows his hands. Maybe your face is as ugly as your voice in which case I appreciate your consideration of others brah brah

Crystal Logic is one of the best albums of all time by one of the best bands of all time. The Veils of Negative Existence alone is worth listening to on the b side.
Okay thanks for the Update I’m a snob when it comes to pressings and Black Metal. Btw ordered Dawn of possession on CD to play it on the car. I have my first press signed by Ross and Rob.
@Interfacer the person who hates on black dahlia obviously lives a depressing life in less than clean conditions. Just wallowing in filth and squalor. You know exactly what I’m talking about.
GWAR is the greatest band in this universe or anywhere else. I've asked this question many times. I'm sure j- jizz dog doesn't like em. And if he is a lame ass bohab throw him to the maggot.
I saw King Diamond play a show in 2004 with Nile, Behemoth and The Black Dahlia Murder. A year or two before that, I saw TBDM play with Cannibal Corpse. I like them, but I always considered them to be the AC/DC.. because you always knew what you were going to get with each album. A tweak here, a tweak there, but you just knew it was going to be Black Dahlia served that day. The other alternatives were Arsis and The Darkest Hour (at the time).
I played a show with the black dahlia murder guys back in the day and they were all very nice guys. Can't say anything about their music, but they definitely weren't posers.
@@mikeviolate666 I get it every once in a while. Because they think I’m a giant Mexican. Then they hear my white dude name. Then I inform them of my Hawaiian name. Then they’re all apologetic about whatever they said
suffocation is my favorite band all time and those r their best albums if were not counting human waste . i might b one of the few who loves pieced from within a lil bit more then effigy
Not in the '90s, but my brother bought a copy of At Death's Door (the one with Fear Factory and Brujeria) at dollar store in our town, back in 2005. My brother and I grew up on the Nuclear Blast compilations (Death Is Just the Beginning, and 5 years of Nuclear Blast). We bought them second hand from Record & Tape Traders. 🙂
What toppings Nargaroth likes on their pizza??? That's a hot one, I've been pondering that question for a very long time. Has there been any feedback on this important matter or better yet an "official statement" by the band? I might buy up their entire back catalog (box sets in all) if I agree with their choice of toppings, doubt they favor pineapple.
@@NevermoreRules I'd likely deduct unless I had recently suffered a serious head injury. What if you could actually put Kvlt-Points right on your pizza? Whooooaaaahhhhhhh, imagine the possibilities.👍
I was a huge fan of BDM’s Unhallowed. Always dug their attitude towards the scene and how they worked their butts off touring throughout the years. Miasma was cool but after that they weren’t keeping my attention.
I remember buying their first album when they were fresh on the scene. Didn't know anything about who they were. "Deathcore" wasn't even a term yet. I thought the album was great.
I could understand how people liked them. They just didn't do it for me. I saw them live on a Summer Slaughter that they headlined. I went for Vader, Aborted, Kataklysm, and Cryptopsy. Kataklysm and Cryptopsy were kind of disappointing. Black Dahlia was good live. I will give them credit as a good live band. I'm not a fan.
@@distributorovkvlt-points5481 I wonder if my mom listened to death core. Because that's what claimed her in 2006. Death core came out sometime around 2003 right? Yes I made a stupid joke about my mom dying of colon cancer.
Great video, J-Dawg! King Diamond is undoubtedly one of the Greats. *Them* is one of the scariest albums ever made (along with the Return... by BATHORY, Wicca by Mystifier, and Kataklysm's first 3 releases: the Mystical Gate of Reincarnation, Sorcery, and Temple of Knowledge, to name a few). I have a slightly different opinion: given his immense, awesome catalogue, he doesn't have to rush a new album if he doesn't want to. That said, I'd still be excited if he released a new LP. 🙂 This might be an unpopular opinion, but perhaps underground music is what keeps tangible media (CDs and analogue formats) from becoming obsolete. Fans of underground music -- especially Metal -- love to actually have something they can hold and absorb: the art, the thanks list, the atmosphere of the release. Having a tape, a CD, or a vinyl definitely adds to the experience. Unfortunately, at this juncture, I don't get to buy as much physical releases like I used to (I live in a fairly small flat), but I still support the artists and distros by buying from them digitally. Regarding Nargaroth, this is the first I hear about René being racist, lol. Most of the criticisms I hear about René is that he's a compulsive liar who makes cookie-cutter black metal. I'm not too familiar with Nargaroth, other than some songs from Black Metal ist Krieg, which are okay. BDM is not really my cup of tea, either, but I'd still like to see them live. Trevor seemed like a funny, genuine, warm guy from interviews. I would've loved to chat about Death Metal bands with him. I geeked-out when I saw a photo of Trevor in some article with a copy of Stillbirth Machine. 😄
I think King hasn’t released anything in 15 years cause he probably has writer’s block and would rather milk the older albums with touring and rehashed merchandise like that stupid Abigail comic. I’m also tired of the excuses over the years. It’s like shit or get off the pot King brah brah!
@@aegisraven1284 Stop. Making. Lame. Posts. That. Are. Poorly. Thought. Out. And. Illogical. Here's a tip: Remastered CD's almost always sound better, technology can and does make a difference and in this case, usually for the better.👍
Although I agree with 99% of your opinions I have to disagree on the King Diamond not having a good setlist. Yes, I agree I quit KD after conspiracy and I'm not familiar with most of his songs now. When I went to see KD on the Abigail tour back in 2015 he played songs from all his 80's/90s albums and was a hell of a show.
There is a really good interview with King Diamond. Comedian Dean Delray interviews him. He just lets King tell his story from the beginning. It’s pretty interesting.
Annoying TBDM fan here, I really do consider them one of the greatest modern death metal bands but I understand if you guys don’t like it it’s very clean as far as death metal goes and it def doesn’t have that OSDM grit which I know you guys are all about, and which I really fucking love as well
No joke, I legitimately thought Black Dahlia Murder was some kind of screamo band based on the stupid name and the only photo I saw of them looked like a promo photo to sell skate shop clothing. I also remember the logo looking like it was drawn by someone that thinks Static X is a metal band.
Thats a understandable judgment of the cover of a book. And you could have been right. They are death metal in my opinion, but super watered-down. I don't dig em but alot of real metal heads do.
@@Daedalus4 I just looked through Jon Zig’s metal-archives credits and the only band he has worked with that I like is Baphomet. Not sure how my assumption that Black Dahlia Murder is screamo was an indication that I listen to any of these bands, nice try though!
Ohh, I dunno. People talking facts that can be totally seen as talking shit, as always, always depend on the context for it to be made talking shit. I spoke to a famous metal guy about a performance he did that everyone just knew shit. There was no need to talk to him about it; he was embraced and I felt like an asshole for bringing it up.
black dahlia 100% attracts the poser crowd but they were the first band i'd ever heard with blast beats. i like the first two albums but lost interest after that. most of their fanbase is legit super lame i can't stand em.
Ok I just back from hearing some of unhallowed from black dahlai….BORING to much chuga breakdowns for me death metal to me is like mortuary and autopsy
Despite Unhallowed sounding unpolished and amateur at times due to the fact that the band was still finding their sound, It still shits on boring ass AutopZZZy even at their peak. (Melatonin Snoozeral)
@@embalmed_existence I'm not an Autopsy guy either and I don't think Brisket was trying to disrespect them and was just giving his take. That said I do feel they had a more new school sound with a lot of that Swedish melody mixed in. It wasn't traditional death metal so I can see where Brisket is coming from. He's good people so I know he wasn't just trying to be a dick.🤘😃
Yeah I'm not detecting a steady stream Kvlt-Points emanating from Nargaroth either, watch it come to light that all the current members of the band are invested in Hot Topic's brand AND own stock with company. If that doresn't scream Poser Certified I don't know what does.
@@distributorovkvlt-points5481 I remember being bombarded on AOL and MySpace with that Black Metal ist Krieg shit in my formative metal years and even then I could tell it was crap. That guys so far up the good bm bands asses he should be paying them rent.
He lied about a lot of weird shit. When his band started, being friends with Varg Vikernes, I think he lied about shooting someone one time? Just embarrassing shit.
I have seen The Black Dahlia Murder at least 3 times in my life, while they are not bad, I just don't see what's the big deal about them. I always felt that scene deathcore kids love this band. Their fanbase is annoying. The only album i kind of enjoy from them was Nocturnal but that about it. Then again I never liked that style of metal.
@spectral visage Complete nonsense take. Try actually listening to the music you criticize instead of hopping on a hate bandwagon. You are trying SOOO hard to copy J-Dawg's speech and mannerisms to fit in rather than give a coherent opinion which proves you are nothing but a parroting poser.
@@spergerkang5291Oh come on now with this crap...the fact that most of the metalcore poser shit is based off Slaughter Of The Soul (and obviously Terminal Spirit Disease that came before), doesn't mean that the album is shit.
