Indian is an older “label” than black but it’s basically the same thing - my godmother has “negro” listed on her original bc - she doesn’t call herself a negro - especially since Jesse Jackson decided we should call each other African American - but centuries from now, you can convince a new group of people that Negro is different than African American depending on who controls history and education - just like you can convince some people that Indian never meant the indigenous “black” people of America - keep in mind, India was not formerly labeled or called India in 1492 (it’s still not - it’s Bharata or Hindustan amongst the people of the region)
