Letting Lupita embrace her Mexican heritage by speaking Spanish in this movie was so cool TBH

Not only did Lupita speak perfect Spanish with a perfect Mexican accent, but Tenoch and Mabel spoke perfect Yucatecan Mayan. Mabel said an in interview that she would practice her lines for hours until the pronunciation was perfect. The actor that plays the chamen role is an indigenous Mexican actor and I am not sure but I think he was also the Mayan coach. Mabel also said that she wanted to deliver her line perfectly so that when a member of that indigenous group saw the movie they would understand her and that it was her way to pay them respect and proper representation.
@WhiteRaven696

@@vicfig26 I knew there’s still a Mayan population living in the Yucatan, but I didn’t realize they still spoke the actual Mayan language. That’s sweet of Mabel to want to make sure modern Mayans can understand her dialogue in the movie.

Still one of my FAVORITE MCU endings of all time. Just seeing Shuri finally breathe after seeing her nephew always hits and taking the first steps into moving on and seeing how she smiles with the boy. Obviously in an ideal world I would have wanted many many movies with Chadwick but I cannot believe what they were able to do in this film to honour him and continue a story. The fact that introducing Prince T’challa, means we WILL get those T’challa stories but just in a different form is awesome

My mother died from similarly to Chadwick Boseman from complications from cancer a few years ago, and like Chadwick she kept the fact that she knew she was dying from us until a couple days before she died. So it was very hard to watch this movie, not just because of my mother, but because Chadwick Boseman and the character of T’Challa are my heroes. But it was still a beautiful and cathartic movie to watch. And coming out of the theater I met a family of 10 black people who like me were wearing all white out of respect for Chadwick and T’Challa, we talked about how much we loved the movie and afterwards they let me take a picture of them with their phone in front of the Wakanda Forever poster. One of the most beautiful and cathartic nights of my life. As for the story itself, I loved it. People think that Namor is the villain but he’s not. The real villain is white, European imperialism. Throughout history European empires plundered other nations for either resources or for slaves. Even though it’s 2023 it’s absolutely believable that either Russia, China or the U.S. would look for any excuse to dismantle non hostile nations just to rob them of their resources. The Contessa herself is a perfect example, she’s practically salivating at the idea of America owning all the vibranium in Wakanda. Everything Namor did was because he wanted to prevent what has happened throughout human history to happen to Talocan. And I still cry my eyes out at the end with T’Challa’s son telling Shuri his real name. Rest In Power Chadwick.

I am a Latino who has studied Meso American history, to see Namor deal with the Spanish Colonizers, especially the priest, was so satisfying. Namor is pragmatic and I hope Shuri can teach him to trust. Also: the French once used Special Forces to sink an unarmed Green Peace vessel. Of course the French would try something. I love the "receipts" she brought to the UN.

I may be in the minority, but I honestly felt more a fulfilling movie experience out of "Wakanda Forever", than I did with the original "Black Panther". Don't get me wrong: I absolutely love the first movie. But looking back on it, it is a pretty basic movie, story-wise. If we're getting technical, it's "Rocky III", but with T'Challa: the hero is essentially enjoy life as the champ/Black Panther; he gets challenged for the title/mantle, and loses; he has to build himself back up and challenge the challenger again, and ends up winning in the end. And that's fine! It totally works. But couple that with the pretty rough CG in the 3rd act, the seams in the first flick do start to show in parts. With "Wakanda Forever", even with the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the movie, it really feels like Coogler was allowed to spread his wings a bit more as a storyteller (even while working within the confines of the MCU machine). It just felt like a more personal movie, that said more about the human condition this time around, along with the socio-political aspects. I will admit that the first one is a *tighter* movie, as it simply had less to accomplish outside of establishing Wakanda and its inhabitants as major MCU players. "Wakanda Forever" had way more juggling parts, including upping the stakes, introducing multiple new MCU leads moving forward, as well as recontextualizing Wakanda in the post-blip (and post "reveal to the world") era. And in addition to that, they had to address Chadwick's absence, AS WELL as give the story-arc of how the new Black Panther emerges. It's a tall task that should've been a train wreck, but for me it worked surprisingly well. Does the "MCU world-building" cut into things a bit? Sure. But for me, that's always kinda been the draw of the MCU anyways, as I like the interconnectedness, as long as it's not super clunky. Not to bring the DC "rivalry" into it, but this isn't like introducing the Justice League in a RU-vid video in the middle of the third act, which does nothing for Batman & Superman's impending battle. While Riri's (and maybe even Contessa's) presences are the odd-plotpoints-out, they didn't feel as shoehorned to me, as Riri actually served a story purpose with her connection to the vibranium-detection, and Contessa re-asserts the notion that Wakanda simply cannot trust the outside world. The second movie's certainly not the "celebration" that the first movie was, but even with its more somber tone, I just felt "Wakanda Forever" had a more "mature" (for lack of a better expression) and confident feel to it, in a way that the first movie didn't. That's just me tho. I'm nuts. Can't speak for those who didn't enjoy it nearly as much.

She only shot at them when they attempted to kill Shuri So technically in every scenario Talocan attacked first.

No franchise can boast that they have had such good acting moments (not action). For example, from a movie that seems to be a bit maligned. The hallway scene in Thor 1 with Tom Hiddleston and Anthony Hopkins. Bruh, that is some damn acting. Brought the sun: Could be a small fusion generator, which is essentially a small sun (with maybe the Vibranium absorbing the radiation, making it grow so much, beneath the sea bed)?

I saw it _eleven_ times in theaters here. And I can say for certain that it got better and better the more times I watched it. Everyone should see it at least twice to get the real effects.

After watching many reactions, yours are the one I related the most to. I love this movie on so many levels. The story and the emotional journey alone had me. But the subtext, is so rich with “real” life commentaries. Grief, revenge, hate, the enslavement of people, the role of religion, ancestral trauma and pain, superpower nations destabilizing others to take their resources, corrupt politicians, binary decisions, the lost of hope and love. But light, hope, forgiveness, love, are still there if we are willing to see it.

There was a deleted scene where Angela Bassett as Queen Ramonda did get to meet little T'Challa. Of course, for obvious reasons, the scene was deleted so that the reveal in theaters would be as it was to the fans. Although the filmmakers and Angela believed that the Queen meeting her grandson was a beautiful and heartwarming scene, everyone agreed that it was best to take it out and show him at the end credits scene.

I'm so glad that they cut that scene and gave us that reveal later. Got to end the movie with hope for the future and not just grief for what/who we don't have anymore.

Actually looking back on it, while I don’t think Chaat was there, Quetzalcoatl was there in the gods scene in Thor love and thunder, which is the Aztec name for the Mayan name ku'ku'lkán which I think is VERY funny

Shuri's "Black Panther theme" is called 'Wakanda Forever,' and it's my favorite of all the Marvel scores as well!
