The actions of one sick person is in no way representative of a whole group of innocent people who have nothing to do with each other. Crime is a big problem here in Puerto Rico, but never did I think I should personally feel ashamed of myself or my peers because of these random people’s awful life choices.
Well that’s the reality when you’re black. It is what it is. If you ain’t black you wouldn’t understand. There a reason why we have a stigma against us. There a reason black men get the most time in prison for doing the same stuff that other races do. There’s a reason why people always bring up black on black violence and not any other race when all races kill each other. It’s the reason a black man can get the cops called on him and he can get shot just because he exist. This might be a skit but it’s true. When people that aren’t black see black people doing bad stuff, it’s the whole races problem. But if he doing something great then he’s the exception. It’s always been this way. You can’t change how people feel about you or your race. We treated as one not individuals. We the only race that gets this treatment

I honestly think it’s pretty screwed up that whenever there’s a violent crime reported, the first thing people think about is race. Nine times out of ten it’s irrelevant to the situation.

The actual sellout is the one that says nothing and refuses to take honest action to establish a safer environment. I live in Houston, one of the more diverse cities in America and from my totally anecdotal experiences and evidence I would say maybe a strong 25% of people I see are black. I've had to travel to many of the surrounding cities in Texas, excluding Dallas and Austin the percentage point plummets. How many blacks occupy the heartland of the U.S.? In big cities yeah we are represented well, but outside of them in my life I see a complete drop off which makes the 13% make sense in my eyes. I'm interested to hear an opposing opinion and open to changing my mind though.

The whole "set us back" thing isn't literal. It's a method of us internalizing the failures or mistakes our people make so that we can collectively learn and increase our own personal discipline. In the past it was literally for freedom, or the right to vote. These days it's moreso about how your behavior can affect your opportunities in life. When you see people who work low paying jobs because they can't stop getting high, or a chick with 8 kids and no man and they act crazy over the smallest thing in public..... The rest of us can use that as motivation to be more disciplined and represent our people. "Set us back" doesn't have to be true, it just has to be useful. Some people think ruining your greatest moment for slapping somebody is cool. And that's okay for them. But everybody else who want to win when opportunity arrives can use the feeling of the set back as motivation to go harder. How do you think we got to where we are as a people? Because years ago people figured out black people can't afford to make the same mistakes others can make. The same mistake might kill us. It's not about white people. It's about taking accountability for ourselves.
@@mrdump4512 an individual black person has every right to ignore the realities that exist in America. If you choose to ignore the way we get judged as a collective, you can do that. I subscribe to my own individuality as well. Your decision however, does not change the fact that who black people are collectively can kill us individually. If a cop kills us, harasses or falsely imprisons us, etc. It's because the feel like they can. They have the impression that we are vulnerable and can be exploited with little consequence. If you think that our collective actions can't help or hurt us all individually, then you don't understand how social systems operate. The reason why Asians aren't as often victimized by police, is because police assume there may be more risk. He may have family with finances to fight a BS case. Look up the term "model minority" as it relates to Asian people. Our individual decisions have an effect wether you acknowledge it or not. Nobody is implying that black people are now worse off because of one person, but some of our people tend to get excited by stupid shit. Goofy people get empowered by goofy behavior. A lot of women love what will did and a lot of men hurt themselves because of that woman's desire. That's about us. You all decide it's about white people because of what you believe or the lower class mentality people that you interact with. That's on them and that's on you. Get around some kings and self made men and see how they carry their perspective.
