@@MattyRox Tony Iommi has said he is currently working on remastering the albums with Tony Martin and hopefully they will come out sometime this year.
Cozy was a machine, used the biggest sticks and was shear technique with power, no matter who he played with, he always had on his base drums, Cozy Powell
@@spaceace4387I gotta imagine his look didn't help him, he looked like the Uncle next door. Fucking hell though, that uncle could belt a tune. Sabbath just wasn't what it was though until Dio came back for Dehumanizer and then Ozzy for the Reunion. Rock on uncle Tony!
I have to agree! Tony Martin brought as much of an alternative sound compared to Ozzie as Dio. I have all of the Tony Martin era albums, and each, in their own way are excellent!
Listening to Tony’s voice, he sounds like lighter and higher pitched Ronnie James Dio. Rest in peace Cozy. I haven’t heard this one since summer of 1989.
Kudos to Iommi for hanging in there and keeping Sabbath alive…. Next to the Dio era, the Tony Martin is my favourite. Martin was so underrated. It’s a shame all this great music (inc the Dio era) gets banished to oblivion when Sabbath gets talked about.
@Raphael: that’s pretty a pretty harsh thing to say about Hughes and Gillen! As much as a Martin fan I am, I think the original recordings of Idol are better. In terms of artists getting a bad rap Ray has got to be up there. If you check out bootlegs of him singing Ozzy/Dio era stuff he really does justice to them. Up there with Dio, Gillan and the rest for sure. I love Ozzy, and his style was perfect for the early albums, but objectively he was the worst vocalist from a technical standpoint.
@@ReubenAotearoa. I mostly agree with you… Ozzy was the voice of an era…. But he was a long way off the best singer. He wouldn’t even be the 4th best singer in Take That. Lol
Tony Martin is a good singer. Quite underrated. But my friend, you cannot possibly be implying that he is anywhere near the status of rock GODS like Ozzy Osbourne or Ronnie James Dio. It's OK to enjoy the lesser known Sabbath albums, I do too, but don't pretend like they aren't lesser known for a reason.
I started listening Black Sabbath with Tony Martin's vocal and instantly fell in love. This brought me into the Metal scene. Later discovered other vocalists. Though Dio is the best vocalist and the world knows it as well as Ozzy is another Godfather of Metal; however, to me Tony Martin was the best singer of BS to till date since his voice perfectly synced with Tony Iommi's dark riffs and the songs' themes. IMHO
In my opinion, best Sabbath album ever. The athmosphere, the mystic, absolutely phantastic. One of my first metal albums, when I was a kid.🤘 They really have to remaster and stream this masterpiece! Iommy should fight for the IRS-rights.
Why remaster something that sounds great already? This is one of the best (if not the best) sounding Sabbath album (of course we are speaking about the original album played on good or at least medium equipment, not shitty phone headphones from shitty 128 kbps mp3). Remastering will only make it worse, probably a lot of dynamic compression that will kill the good sound. It is NOT a good idea. Re issue - that's better, adding "Cloak and dagger" to it. Tonny Iommi announced reissue of Tony Martin Era Albums probably in 2023 - i am waiting what will come out of it, even if i already have all 5 albums and last thing they need is remastering.
Imagine i am at a coffee shop now and you came in and ordered a cup of coffee, you put me in a very difficult situation. Is that a large, extra large or a cup of java without sugar, the choices are endless. I could speak Swedish here as well but never mind, how would you rate my reply from 1 to 10, thank you.
Long live RockN,Roll!.🤘

"Headless Cross" Look through the people, and on through the mist To the hill of the headless cross Where all witches meet, on a night such as this, And the power of darkness is host They come face to face, eye to eye, soul to soul, With an Angel that fell from the sky Borne on the air, are the screams and the wails Of the masses appointed to die Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture, At the headless cross, at the headless cross How do you feel, when the locks refuse the key And the master is calling your name, Does the luck of the charm, really keep you from harm Does the talisman protect you from pain Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture, At the headless cross, at the headless cross From the first evil night, when a black flash of light Cut the crucifix half to the ground There's no escaping from the power of Satan For a people so brave and so proud Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture, At the headless cross, at the headless cross At the headless cross, at the headless cross Where will you run to, at the headless cross Look, to the headless cross
Amazing vocals and a fantastic song. Love the meaty late 80s production. Pretty sure I still have this album on vinyl somewhere, but I need to buy it on cd.
What a great song Tony iommi did some of his best guitar work on headless cross and Tony Martin was fantastic and to top it off you had the absolute drum monster cozy Powell laying it down.
AGREE. Martin was just brilliant for Sabbath. The sound of this era is timeless. Because it's classic rock and the other 2 eras had a strong style which sounds a bit dated to me now.
