👋 In todays video we install the Black Widow Double Motorcycle Hitch Carrier! This hitch adaptor is capable of towing up to 600 pounds! Each rung is able to hold up to 400 pounds, but overall 600 for two!
The installation for this motorcycle hitch carrier was super simple and straight forward! Basic hand tools were used, a 13mm and a 16mm. The 13mm was for the actual installation of the ramps and brackets and the 16mm for the hitch portion to help keep it secure!
After the installation, it's super easy to load the bikes! Whichever way you feel more comfortable loading a bike is the way the first bike should be loaded. For me, I like the bike on my right, so the bike closest to the vehicle was loaded that way. It also makes it more comfortable for unloading as well.
There are spots for the tie downs to secure the bikes!
NOTE!!!! I WOULD ADD A STRAP AROUND BOTH WHEELS TO KEEP THE BIKES FROM MOVING UP IF YOU WERE TO HIT A BUMP! YOU WOULDN'T WANT THE BIKE TO CATCH AIR AND SLIDE OFF THE CARRIER!!
I realized I didn't show that and that is something that I will do for longer trips with the bikes!
So far I am happy with this purchase, it looks like what I was hoping for and it's so compact, it's easy to store and quick to hook up to head out for some fun adventures!

Thank you for having this. A family member sent me to pick a used one of these ramps, then asked if I knew how to use it.😮 Your video is clear, gives warnings on what to double-check. It also has the surprise bonus of looking out the back window over the bikes to show the lack of movement while on the road. Again, thanks so much for sharing. What do you do if the rungs don’t line up perfectly with both tires? When my front wheel fits in perfect, the back wheel has a rung right in the middle of it. I tried it with or without the extra sizing bolt. It doesn’t need it. I was thinking about cutting out one rung but I don’t want to sacrifice durability. What do you think?

What bike do you have? It should work fine, I don’t have any issues with that.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed it’s an e-bike. Eride pro ss 2.0. I’m sure the wheelbase is slightly less than your bikes. I tried using it on two of the smaller rungs and it’s a bit better but now the front wheel is not all the way to the larger space. It’s in the one behind it and the back wheel is all the way back. I have two of them so the other one will fit the same way.

@@mikekellyco interesting. All the advertising I saw for this was for e-bikes. Not sure why they wouldn’t fit right.

No, not at all, that’s what they are designed to do.

@BrosFOURRSpeed you mentioned having a 5000+ tow rating but they aren't accounting for that being on the hitch typically only 10-15 percent of that weight goes to the hitch so like 750 or less an that's at the ball but this being on a arm I feel like constant bumps would fatigue the system maybe I'm wrong but that looks wild especially on a x5

@@waynerhea6649 tongue weight is closer to 1200-1500. But it’s solid steel, nothing is bending that. Or bending the actual hitch on the vehicle!

@BrosFOURRSpeed good to know. I would love to see how it holds up. I was about getting one for me e bikes, which fully loaded weight about 200 pounds for both, and no bike rack will hold them securely enough.

I would rather have this instead of a trailer but my single already scratches going down driveways. No way this dosent. I could get a hitch riser but that ramp looks like it wouldnt be any good

Just put mine together and used it today for the first time. It works, but not a fan. The ramp is so short it is almost useless. You need to turn the bike on and carefully drive it up the ramp while walking beside. Nearly impossible to get the bike off. Need two people to pull the bike backwards. The only way to do it by myself was to stand beside the bike and drive it forward down the ramp, which was a bit sketchy.

I did it fine without starting the bikes at all. It is a bit steep but works great.

I got the LED magnetic trailer lights from HF. They fit perfect on the center of the back. You just need to flip your set up so the ramp is behind the first bike instead of in the back. When not using.

I bought the same Hitch. My hitch fell apart after couple weeks. A trailer is the way to go. I seen a video where the bikes fell off due to the hitch twisting.

The whole unit or the actual hitch on your vehicle? That would be the car if your actually hitch fell off. Not a fault of this unit.

bro that is literally no weight 😂 if u have to upgrade your suspension to haul 2 little dirtbikes you need a different vehicle entirely 😂

Most vehicles have a tongue weight of 600 lbs. We used this on a VW Atlas. And the rear squatted like 2 inches and you could feel the front end being a bit floaty. This is a lot weight especially when you factor in the distance away from the rear wheels. It's like 6 feet behind. A trailer weighing in at 600 pounds is nothing since there are wheels to support it. But this is more than nothing and too much for some SUV's to handle. The self leveling suspension on the X5 makes this a very good vehicle to use this system. Without it, I'd want to stiffen the rear suspension. 600 pounds weighs an awful lot the farther it go away from the rear wheels. Basic geometry.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed It's not fine. Sean is right. Some physics are missing from your thinking. The vehicle's published tongue weight max is based on the location of the hitch ball. You have almost 570 lbs of bikes and carrier cantilevered, on average, almost two feet past the receiver. The down force at that arm greatly exceeds what the same weight would impose at the hitch ball. The max allowable tongue weight is almost half of the rated weight.

@@gk22we2 that’s not correct at all. Where do you come up with the rating being half of what it is rated at? I’ve done this multiple times now and it’s completely fine and safe to do.. You have a link to prove that, all the research I did shows otherwise..I’m not the only one who has used this system. I did try it on a Volkswagen Atlas, without the proper rear suspension and a lower tongue weight, that wasn’t something to try again. You have to have the right vehicle to handle the weight, just like my X5.
