As for the stolen valor, my oppinion and experience on this is that the people who do it cant actually step up. maybe mentally (not dissability, usually kind of lazienness), physically or they have self esteem issues, so they fabricate to feel better and get some validation. I genuinly think its the same mental motivation that makes a lot of social media including myself, but the need dialed up to 11 for these people. I also think the a lot of 'influencers' have this exact same issue at the dangerious level, the partner shamers on tiktok, the instagram models that alter their photos, or the political podcast spewiers that are just lying their ass off, as opposed to the funny tiktokers, real models, and actual commentators that put out facts. Its all the same cause and problem, just the stolen valor is far more disrespectfull. In this kids case, he wasent doing it to one up people, he was doing it to fit in, And he was in a place with a LOT of masculine men and capable women, i can easily see why any person coming into that place felt like a child, and thig guy more so. By far he wasent the only one, i could do decades of stories on that place alone, but he was the most prominint example.

yeah i think that definatly dose help, i saw it with alot of kids, and then a few of the workers, and jumping on people did stop it. In this guys case thow he was never called out until the accident, and in part it was bullying, people laughing at his expence and him not realising, but also because he was a little special, so noone wanted to be the guy to dump on him, even if it was well meaning. Maybe its something we all have in the beginning and we grow out of, but we dont all grow the same way.

Similiar in a way that some people are impulsive and want to be liked a little too much, the combination not compatible with good judgement, they arent bad or stupid, just can't help it

We actually call that sergent syndrome in Scotland. Mainly someone who has been in the army, but never deployed, and then when they come out they know everything about everything. Its a Big problem here in finland too, because sometimes u get 20 year olds that have done their 6 months nationa servace and come out thingking they know how to do everything better than anyone else. However with the exception of automatic rifles and tracked vehicles, their actual training is on par with a scottish kid that went to the scouts for a few years. And funnily their shooting qualification is shorter range than my master at arms badge i got in the scouts when i was 16.

Interesting assumption, but this wasent in an office. i think your miss understanding the situation , this wasent 'at work.' We lived on site these things are what happened in yout time off, evenings , days off etc. The people there work 80 hours a week plus in the busy periods, 48 hours a week outside of that time. As an example, when i sttarted doing thir job, i was on a 48 hour a week contract, and had 6 weeks holiday a year, if i worked over i got my time back. at the 'end of the year' they had to pay me my holidays (they had refused them so i had to be paid in lieu) plus 2 weeks they couldent give in time, and i still finished on the 4th of october, while being paid the rest of the year in back pay.

i think / hope its more Hanlons Razor at work, and that CCP just arent considering or thinking about how most people play. The majority of eve players have been solo for along time, as it is for everyone in the beginning of playing. They realised this with abyss, but then steered back into the multi aspect with the later developments. But by their nature solo players have no representation. if someone dose represent them and become part of ccp, they then become more intergrated into the multi aspect by just being in the office and playing with others, they move away from the origins and forget it. They need some peopl to feed ideas from the quieter sides of the community, problem being if you ost any ideas like that on the forums or reddit the toxic side shouts them down. Ive made a fair few posts over the years, and every single one without exception that suggested any kind of change (some that eventually happened) always had agressive toxic replies from some people, people that dont get banned fromt he forums, just their posts removed. So people are less likley to comment a second time.

that toxic crowd's shut down and turned off a lot of players who had good questions and points (that no one ever seems to hear) and not just in the forums and comments. i won't go near corps (except to cull a few of their chickens while flying cheap fits). also, won't spend a real penny on the game, or plex, either. love the game, though; and i'll be playing it till the day it shuts down (or they kill alpha). still, the sky's are emptier more and more. flying through a lot of lonely systems. so that toxic crowd (and hilmar's "vision") is continuing to drive away players...

@@CruentusV yeah they are loosing players, and i think not talking about it is aslo part of the problem, the allience sheep are in their bubble and dont really care about the game outside their experience so they dont notice the quiet. even people that live in caldari space dont see it as bad because people migrated there. And thats part of the issue the most vocal player base in the game cant see the issue, so they deny it exists because 'ccp ihasent said that' even though by almost all metrict asside from new accounts opened, even is getting smaller. But new accounts opened isint the same as players actually joining the game. CCP them selves show in one statistic that over a third of new accounts never entered the game!
